Square Enix is going to make more HD remasters of beloved games of the past. I sort of noticed this trend, with the X/X-2 Remaster, FF7 Remake, etc, But here you go folks, more HD remasters!

Also, classic SQEX games will be getting HD remakes while others while just be remasters.

They say they're revitalizing old IPs. This goes in-line with what they said earlier this year with rebooting old IPs.

 

This does not mean remake. This means what they're doing with franchises like Tomb Raider, Star Ocean & SaGa.

 

And what they're doing with FFVII is a remake and they've already explained FFVII is a special case.

Should point out here, a "reMAKE" and a "reMASTER" are two completely different things. Final Fantasy X/X2 HD and Final Fantasy VII Remake are two completely different ambitions that follow separate paths. One is touched up while the other is rebuilt from the ground up. And like 96 says there's likely other meaning in the language that they use there.

Incorrect. They remade I, II, III and IV almost a decade ago. V and VI have never been remade. And anyway, they haven't actually done that many remakes or remasters over the years.

 

And Final Fantasy titles do not count as an old IP otherwise FFXV would be a new IP. Lol.
