Businesses say things like this all the time. There is always going to be some backtracking. The Vita does indeed have potential, but it can't live up to it because of the lack of support from developers. It's an expensive system to develop for, which is one reason why it failed. They say that they are still supporting it now, but give it about a year and they will stop and possibly even discontinue it.

Not with features like Remote Play, they won't. The Vita is still an integral part of playstation, much like the PSP was.

Remote Play is available on Android phones. If your phone is not Xperia however, you'll need to install the unofficial port (and root access for connecting Dualshock controllers, but that isn't mandatory). So, no the Vita will likely be discontinued in about a year. Remote Play on a handheld console isn't anything special when it's available on a much bigger platform.

My best friend/soul brother Jonathan talked to me about the PS Vita, and about how it's basically a perfect handheld because of the fact that it's basically a portable PS4, because of the fact that you can continue playing your PS4 games on the Vita via Remote Play, if I'm not mistaken!  That's one of the things that really makes the system shine, but unfortunately, without much support from developers, the system hasn't truly had the chance to shine!

Like I said, Remote Play is available on Android. And the Vita is apparently difficult to develop for because of it's hardware. As a result, good software did not come to the Vita, which is why it failed.

Yeah, that's why the Vita was literally mentioned ZERO times at Paris Games Week.

They can't really mention it , if they didn't have any triple A titles ready for it, or in development.

They show more than just AAA. Lol.

Oh, I see.  That is most interesting! :O

The vita support is pretty much over, regardless. Gravity Rush is making a full move to the PS4 due to the fact that the Vita has done quite poor in the handheld market. I have no care for it and seeing that Gravity Rush is getting a port and the sequel has been moved exclusively to the PS4, I have no doubts that we'll see games like Freedom Wars and whatnot getting ports in the near future and full vita support dropped.

Never lose hope. Unless they got another game changing handheld in development, the Vita ain't going nowhere, and neither are it's games.

I'm hoping it does lose support completely. It's a handheld not worth my time and the games I wanted I for are being ported over to the PS4 so now I don't even have to pick up the vita.
