Got a flu shot weeks ago, still sick

Posted

Ugh, I got a flu shot 2 weeks ago and it's supposed to take full effect by this Thursday...and now I have the flu. What's more, I finally have a whole week to catch up on school related stuff before I preoccupy myself with celebrating my girlfriend's birthday this weekend, but now I feel too weak to want to do anything. And to think all I needed was to stay healthy for at least 4 more days, ugh what a headache...literally. -3-"  xP  x.x

Talk about bad timing. Hope you get better soon.

I'm sorry. I got my flu shot in early October so I would have some protection. I currently have a mild strain of it, but it could be worse if I did not get the shot. Get well soon.

That's too bad.  The flu shot isn't 100% perfect anyway because the virus changes so fast.

I'm sorry things turned out like that. I can only wish that you'll you'll return to full health quickly and soon.

Did you take the killed virus vaccine or attenuated live virus? Also did you take the flu shot while symptomatic with an oncoming flu?

Eitherway, be sure to drinks lots of fluids to stay hydrated as well as stay well fed with nutritious foods (since your body probably needs the nutrients to fight the infection).

I believe it was the killed virus kind, and I took it before I got sick. I got it about 2 weeks ago on a Thursday and the nurse said that it would take full effect by this Thursday. The real trick was trying to stay healthy the whole time until I was in the clear, but I guess somewhere along the line I must have caught it before I could get fully immunized. There were a couple of storms this past week, maybe I stayed out in the cold and rain too long. And yeah, I'll do my best to take it easy and keep up my strength.
