I know this isn't a recent game, but I am almost finished with this game. All I need to do are a few sidequests and then see the final cutscenes. The gameplay was something I wasn't familiar with in any RPG I played so far. Once I knew the controls, it was fun to play. However, there were times when I was really frustrated. I think it might have been my fault, but there were times I wish I was blocking when I was pressing the B button rather than continue to auto-attack just because I was close to a foe. I also wished I could have controlled other characters longer for more than just because of the plot. I also didn't like how I had no checklist for the sidequests. I had to remember which ones I did or which ones I still needed to complete. I also had to go around Lazulis City a lot of times to find those sidequests in the first place. I still think the good outweighs the bad. The sidequests were a good break from the story and I love the interactions between the characters. Some of those sidequests (maybe just a few... I don't remember) had character development. I love how equipping armor changes the character's outfit (like in Xenoblade Chronicles) and how upgrading them gives some armor on their arms and legs (I forgot what they are called).
My favorite character is Syrenne for the playable characters and General Asthar for the supporting characters. I choose Syrenne because her personality stuck out the most in comparison to the others. I seem to remember her the most when thinking back on this game. I choose General Asthar because he is an awesome guy. He seemed imposing at first, but sometimes makes jokes. For example:
General Asthar: Therius, no need to be so formal, it's just you and me.
Sir Therius: As you wish, General.
General Asthar: I - ugh, no wonder you're not a hit with the ladies.
For those who know or played this game, what are your thoughts about it? Who is your favorite character?
