Your top 5 favourite fictional characters and Why?

Posted

Who are your top 5 favourite fictional characters? It can be from any entertainment medium such as: an anime, a videogame, a comic book/book or TV series and even a film! Explain why, it doesn't have to be a long explanation but you need to provide a justification for your opinion :DChose up to 5 characters only, let's try to avoid huge lists that have no reasons.  :) Oh and post a picture/gif of them in here as well! So we know what they look like.

For me this is tough, in no particular order I'm going to go with moss head

I haven't even caught up to OP yet but Zoro is in a league of his own. His fights are always entertaining and his loyalty never wavers, that is something I respect a lot :D. He threw all his dreams and his pride away, just to protect Luffy. I also like the way he fights and the maturity he displays, it's weird to think he's 19 when he sounds and looks like a 30 year old man.

I think this guy:
Posted Image

Has the best character development, in any entertainment form I've seen. He goes from a stupid street punk to a powerful demon hunter who risks his life multiple times to save the world without even hesitating. It doesn't even feel forced either. I like Kuwabara because his actions are realistic and expected of any person thrown into a supernatural world. He's brave and not afraid to get emotional, he has a lot of hidden potential too.

I was going to either chose Might Guy or Lee but in the end I chose Guy, cause he was the original loser (besides his dad). Guy is the whole package, he's funny, powerful and inspiring. Not being able to use ninjutsu made him look dumb in front of the academy students but he kept at it. Whether he was doing 5000 laps outside the academy or thousands of sit-ups, Guy pushed himself to his maximum. The Guy (Pun) managed to cut half of a God's torso off using his own strength that he mastered. Enough said.

The most well thought out villain, ever. Sensui was so complex he developed another 6 personalities to cope with the mental stress of seeing torture and mass genocide as a young man. I love his fighting style and his prodigious nature. He doesn't even seem like a villain cause his motivations are so well explained. Sensui just wanted to see the world from the perspective of demons because all his life he was taught that humans are good and demons are bad. I feel sympathy for him. Besides that, he is a total and utter badass who no one could beat, besides Mazaku Yusuke and the 3 Kings.

The last one was difficult, either Obito, Shikamaru, Hiei, Nagato or Madara. In the end I chose Madara because he is just a badass. The way he defeated all 5 kage at once? His SOS mode? The battle against the allied shinobi forces? In the span of one day, this one human took on half of an army, the 5 Kage, 4 previous hokage, Naruto and Sasuke, Kakashi and Gaara, before turning into Jesus and surviving Might Guy using all 8 Gates. Then he faced 2 teenagers with Jesus' powers and still couldn't be beat. Madara was a product of his time, his mind was torn after seeing Izuna's death and the effects of the war between the Senju and Uchiha. Tobirama's semi racist views didn't really help him either, Madara just wanted peace and went by any means necessary. In the end, his goal wasn't bad at all, but the means turned him into a psychopath.

Honorable mentions: Obito, Hisoka, Shikamaru, Yusuke, Kurapika, Pain.

I just love this guy. He's the coolest anime character I've ever seen, he cares about his friends more than about himself, he always tries to protects them. He's funny as shit, a bit dumb (or more than a bit xD), and just awesome!! His rubber powers seems at first to be ridiculious, but in the end he has made so much out of it, it's unbelievable.

Luffy will always be my all time favorite anime character! :D

Sora

Posted Image

Kingdom Hearts is my favorite video game series, with KH2 being my favorite video game. And this guy is one reason of that. Just like Luffy he tries everything to protect his friends, is one of the kindest persons and has a good heart, and just like Luffy is Sora a bit dumb xD. Even though Nomura always says that Sora is an ordinary boy, is he in my opnion the most special character in Kingdom Hearts.

Uzumaki Naruto

Posted Image

Naruto reminds me a lot of Luffy, and that's why I also love this guy. He had one of the worst childhoods in an anime in my opinion, but he still never never gave up his dream to become Hokage. He always gave his best, even though he wasn't liked by many people at first. The point that he wanted to save Sasuke after everything Sasuke did to him and his friends is one of the most important facts that prove that Naruto is an awesome character! :D

Killua Zoldyc

Posted Image

Killua is such a badass. I like him way more than Gon, even though Gon is the main character in Hunter x Hunter. Killua has such a great character development, from a boy who has no friends, and who doesn't really care about anyone, to a boy who would sacrifice his own life to protect a friend. The moment when he said the first time that Gon is his best friend, and that he has to protect him, is so epic!

A really great character!! And his Godspeed technique is just awesome :D

Nico Robin

My second favorite One Piece character. She had in my opinion the worst childhood in One Piece, was alone for 28 years, had no friends, no place she could call a home, and just no reason to live.

Then she met Luffy and his crew and her whole life changed. Robin is one of the funniest characters in One Piece, even though she probably doesn't know it xD.

Her character development is amazing, and I love her now even more than at the beginning :D

5. Luigi. Obvious reasons.

4. Lagiacrus (Monster Hunter Tri). He is a cool electric alligator-like monster with the perfect life; top predator of the sea, lives on a beach, and he can swim whenever he wants. Everyday is summer to him. http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/mogapedia/images/8/80/LagiacrusArt.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/230?cb=20130131173543&path-prefix=fr

3. Lucario. He has a beautiful set of moves he can learn, has great Special Attack, he is a cool original Pokémon, and he is playable in Super Smash Bros. By the way, I am aware that he is dubbed the "Furry trap" or whatever, but here's some news, I'M NOT A FURRY FAN! Good lord, I cannot use this awesome Pokémon in Smash without someone calling me that.

2. Sora. Main protagonist of the Kingdom Hearts series.

1. Goofy. He is the cartoon manifestation of me, in my opinion.

1. Goofy. He is the cartoon manifestation of me, in my opinion.

Lucario is one of my favourite pokemon, i always found him badass! :)

1. Gandalf.

Posted Image

What's great about Gandalf is that he's one of the most powerful figures in Middle Earth, being a Maia spirit and essentially only being a few steps down from a demigod, but has willingly accepted his job as trying to help the people of the world help themselves. Unlike a lot of the other older characters, from the elves to the other wizards to Sauron to perhaps even the Valar, Gandalf seems to have an appreciation for all of the races he encounters, and learns their languages, their cultures, and learns to accept everyone as they are. Both of his incarnations have something special about them. As Gandalf the Grey, he comes not as a conqueror or as someone who would be necessarilly held in high esteem, but he comes as a wanderer in grey, who's humbleness makes him approachable to both kings and common folk. As Gandalf the White, he's the beacon of hope the world needs when everything seems dark, and his true power is simply making others believe that they can indeed stand against all the trouble that is coming. Gandalf is just a lot of things: he's hope, tolerance, wisdom, bravery, and, perhaps most important of all, he's a firework maker for the joy of silly hobbits, and that is no small thing.

2. Ebeneezer Scrooge

Posted Image

There's something wonderfully endearing and truthful about Scrooge, and it's why he's lasted so long in popular culture. I think we can all see a bit of ourselves in him, in a way: sometimes we do shut our hearts to others, and we forget the things which might have mattered to us at one time, and replaced them with worries and fears of a more physical nature. The things about Scrooge is that he's not necessarilly a bad person: though some depictions have him care about money for the sake of money, he's more miserly because he's lost all of the things that made him happy in his childhood, and grew increasingly more and more insular, with his money giving him the power to be as such. But what matters most of all is the fact that he can change. Once he recognizes that his humanity never really left him entirely, and that there is still joy to be found in a world even as soulless as industrial London, he can still find that happiness which eluded him for years, and that is something that I think anyone can take away from the story.

3. Benjamin Franklin "Hawkeye" Pierce

Posted Image

This one way a bit tricky, because I love all of the characters of MASH in their own way, but I think Hawkeye has probably influenced me more than all the others. The biggest thing, I think, is how he's in the middle of a war, patching soldiers together, slowly losing his mind, but can find the time to make jokes and try and laugh his way through it, because "it's the only way I can open my mouth without screaming." I also love his attitude towards his patients, and how he is willing to treat any and all wounded, whether they are an enemy or an ally ("When they come in here, the uniforms come off.). And, of course, his solution for world peace is something that I still feel should be put into practice. "We throw away all the guns and invite everyone over for a cocktail party. Last man standing wins the war." He's cynical, self righteous, and possibly a nymphomaniac, but the grit that Hawkeye can show with a smile is something that I can relate to when I find myself in a lousy situation.

4. Charles Foster Kane

Posted Image

What I love about Kane is that we see him from all of his angles. When he's funny, triumphant, golden, and on the rise, to when he's bitter, fallen, broken, and miserable. We love him as he's growing up, sticking it to the more conservative people he meets, ushering in energy and style and wit, and the fact that he's willing to call out people when they do wrong and stand up for the little guy. And then, as life goes on, he eventually becomes the very thing he hates, trying to use money to solve his problems, growing more and more reclusive, and beginning to take his friends for advantage as he expects unconditional love from them, but finds himself unable to give it in return. Most interesting of all, though, is that we never really see Kane from his own point of view: he is always presented as how other people see him, with his only real time alive being at the start of the movie, where he dies. But if you put the pieces together from the stories of everyone, you can begin to fill in the gaps and discover why Rosebud was so important to be his dying words.

5. Tevye

Posted Image

Tevye is a fun character, because his needs and wishes are simple: he wants to provide a good life for his family, uphold the traditions of his beloved town of Anatevka, and, should God be willing, be granted a small fortune. But fate, of course, is not so kind: Tevye's world is changing around him, from his daughters refusing to marry those he approves of to the Russians in town becoming increasingly animate in deporting the Jewish community. And as Tevye watches all of this happen, he has to find new truths in this new world. He accepts that maybe his daughter's love matters more than his choices as the papa, that the love of his wife matters more to him than he thought, and that, sad as it might be, sometimes things will change, and there's nothing you can do about it. Tevye's acceptance of a world that is passing him by, and the need to grudgingly adapt to it, is a bittersweet story, like a fiddler on a roof trying to scratch out a simple tune without breaking his neck.

Since I'm trying to find all the right pictures, I shall show my list as I find the pictures for them. Here ya go.

First one on the list... You guessed it.

Posted ImagePosted Image

This guy, he is BY FAR one of the greatest characters I have ever seen. Not just Davis's friend Veemon, but the Veemon species in general. They are really energetic, filled with courage, and aren't the types to give up so easily. Many have complained about how similar he looks to Sonic the Hedgehog, but to be truly honest, I don't even mind that. His digivolutions are all really awesome; Flamedramon, Raidramon, Magnemon, Exveemon, and so on.

There are a few other reasons why I like this guy the most. With blue being one of my favorite colors, his color really caught my eye. His primary weapon in Digimon World 4 is none other than his Blue Sword, which again, is totally awesome! He's a really fast Digimon, especially for being at the rookie stage. His signature golden "V" on his forehead gives the full definition of Veemon. It is said that Veemon is a digimon that brings good luck to itself and its allies. The simplicity and complexity of his design just brings a smile to my face every time. When things get rough for me, I just think of Veemon and I get some of my determination back. :)

Next on the list, the Back-handed Keyblade wielder himself!

Posted Image

The only back-handed keyslinger in the series, Ventus has become an awesome favorite to me. He fights in a unique fashion, and he's really quick about it. And since he gets a balance of both light and dark.

His story really moves me, like, I can really relate to him. Ventus just wants to be with his friends, but in order to save his friends, he had to sacrifice himself by destroying the X-blade before it was fully forged. Many of us have our opinions about who had the worst fate of Terra, Ven, and Aqua, and mine is of course Ventus. A long, if not eternal slumber sounds pretty harsh in my opinion. And Ven's design, along with his armor's design, both look well-fitting for his character. Dark Green and Olive Green really suit him I think.

Posted Image

Greninja is a pretty Epic Pokemon, one fact to straighten out. Now, there's more reason to why I like him than that. I have grown a liking to water in the past, both the Large bodies of water (oceans/lakes/etc.) and the Type in Pokemon. And what's more is that I really like Reptiles (Plenty of examples of that). Now, when you put those two things together PLUS the power of a Ninja, it's just so easily defined as Greninja, the Ninja Frog Pokemon. They are pretty calm Pokemon, and they are pretty serious most of the time, but when you get to know one, you begin to realize they are actually kinder and more peaceful than what they are usually seen as being.

This... Is Milla. From Tales of Xillia 1 and 2. She is incredible. She has some incredible powers, including the power over the Four Great Spirits. She is one of my top favorites for plenty of reasons.

Fights with grace, can use strong spirit Artes, and dresses so well! <3 OH, uh, sorry, did I say that? I meant she has an awesome design. Heh. I luv u Milla

The moment you've (probably) been waiting for...

Posted Image

Gon Freecs is my official top ANIME hero. Such a simple kid, really, but his goals are strong. His bonds with Killua, Kurapika, Leorio and the rest of his friends (or so-called "allies") have made him one of my most likeable anime characters. First a Fishing Rod, then he gets Nen powers. I haven't watched HunterXHunter all the way through, but I plan on doing so soon. Gon's overall design is kind of stereotypical to a certain extent, but he still satisfies me in terms of character development!

And that is all of my top 5 favorite fictional Characters, thank you so much for reading! :D

Rock on!

Edited by Steven Drake (SteVentus)

This is pretty hard but here I go

Shere Khan

Posted Image

I just love this guy he's so different from other villains. He's laid back and has quite a unique humor not to mention his british accent. I love him because he's a patient and confident character who often get things done in his own manner yeah he's a villain but he's a very cool villain and he's a tiger, tigers are awesome.

Harry Potter

Posted Image

Now where should I start with this. Harry Potter is a character who affected lot's of peoples childhood with magical memories cause he did so on me. I especially love his character in the films where he is portrayed as the kid who's very special but from his point of view he just wants to be treated like a normal kid. He's such an awesome character cause he has his flaws and feels very real yet through all the hurt and pain he goes through he always has that optimistic and curious personality where he just can act proud and share lots of joy with his friends. There is nothing that can kill this hero especially not since he has made several people's childhoods magical.

Ventus

Posted Image

You pretty much saw this coming huh! At first Sora and Roxas were my favourite characters from the series but then when I was introduced to Ventus in BBS I saw a character who not only I could relate to but a character who gave me something worth fighting for. In Ventus story he wanted to make friends on his way while he grew as a character and learned a lot of important things about confidence a similar path I was having trouble with. But simply Ventus personality is exactly my personality, I saw a lot of myself in Ventus. (But I still hold a very strong liking for Sora & Roxas as well so they are honorable mentions for me)

Simba

Posted Image

Growing up I was obsessed with The Lion King and that was because of Simba. I was very similar to cub Simba who was curious, playful and very confident when I was a kid until I reached adolescence. I feel like I have grown with this character as I have aged and Im only getting more closer to older Simba as Im growing. I think that's actually pretty cool though since he has been with me ever since I was a child Im sure he won't leave any time soon.

Hiccup

 Posted Image

And my absolute favourite fictional character and role model is Hiccup from HTTYD franchise. This character is super important to me and he is one of the very good reasons to why I am as open for the thing that means so much to me despite what others think. Through my adolescence I had a very hard time fitting in and trusting myself. I felt that I had no real person/character to look up. But then days after my 14th birthday HTTYD came out and I had no idea of what it was or knew any books about it. After that screening I was completely surprised and I had so much joy to see that Hollywood could finally diverse it's males in media. I finally had a character who was different from his people, who was creative and imaginative but was to insecure to show it, he was not muscular he was skinny and had no interest in violence, he loved art, he was left handed and was not ashamed of it. He was, he was simply me. Never ever had I been so connected to a character in my entire life. I have tooth gap so did he, he was the character that embraced myself to see myself as a person that was special and for that I am very grateful that he was created. I used to be scared well Im not scared anymore and that is all thanks to this amazing well written character. And just like Simba he's a character that is aging with his fans.

Edited by IwasBornAsVentus

Yeah, there is no way I can do this. I have a ridiculously hard time choosing my top 100 favorite characters, let alone my top five! There are just too many characters I love to death!

In no order at all,

Roxas: (We all know what he looks like) (Kingdom Hearts)

Reason: I related to him a lot. His story is very tragic, but hopeful, in a weird way. It always makes me feel sad to play the ending of Days because of this.

Thomas Sharpe: (Crimson Peak)

Posted Image

Reason: I feel sorry for him, and I really like that he tried to be a good man even with everything going against that. Even at the end he tried, although that got him killed.

Ellen Rimbauer: (The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer/Rose Red)

Posted Image

Reason: She's an innocent thrust into a nightmare, and barely makes it through. She's devious and crafty when she needs to be, but still has a bit of the young woman she was in her. (Except for the fact she turns into a ghoul later on, but i'm ignoring that here)

Cecil Baldwin (Welcome to Nightvale book/podcasts)

Posted Image

Reason: I've liked him since day one listening to the podcasts. His sarcasm, dark humor, and general "K, whatever" pretty much made me like him. I don't have any other solid reasons  than this.

Hook: (Once Upon A Time)

Posted Image

Reason: Hook was already my favorite Disney villian, so I guess this isn't suprising, but I also like his character progression, and story arc from dirty pirate to a decent person trying to right old wrongs (and then to a Dark One, but that's off topic)

Hope I did this right.

Oh boy...Top 5 Favorite Fictional Characters

Note: Some of these are kinda obscure or not well knowned for many in this Forum also you are going to hate me.

5.-Bunga from The Lion Guard

Posted Image

(Sigh) Here goes nothing. I just love this character he doesn't give a crap of what he is up to, i see a lot of people hating on Bunga beacuse of how "annoying" he is. Well what i could i say, i just love everything about this character even when he farts (Yes, i'm dead serious).

4.-Ren Höek from The Ren and Stimpy Show.

Posted Image

I felt identified with him and it's just plain disturbing for me, later it turned into my favorite character.

3.-Spoilers!

Asriel Dreemurr from Undertale.

Posted Image

Same with Ren Höek. i felt identified with the character. It's just that quote he says "Just Let me Win" i just saw a part of myself in his character. It's just very true with me...he isn't higher in the list beacuse he doesn't have an special place in me.

2.- Oh boy the conterversary will start with this one...so i'll spoiler it.

Spyro especially his Skylanders counterpart.

Posted Image

(Sigh) first of all people always have an arguement when it comes to Spyro people say no to this one just beacuse how he looks. It's this one is even better the classic one, just read that quote just wonderful. i just love this character to death it's just sad how people has treated Spyro over the years, don't judge a book for it's cover.

1.-Sora

Posted Image

No need to explain more, i just love everything about Sora. The reason he is number 1 it's beacuse if it wasn't for him i would love a

fictional character so much. Since the one i love so much spongebob  Gets too much hate these days...Sora was my only escape for liking something Fictional.

I have a lot of them but i'm just giving to the characters that i love the most.

I can't bring myself to arrange these in order, so you get a random list of my upper tiers of favorites.

1. Athrun Zala (Gundam Seed)

Posted ImagePosted Image

Probably one of my favorite mobile suit pilots (from any Gundam series), I feel like I can sympathize with Athrun. It's difficult to decide what true justice is when you're being pulled into two entirely different directions at once, when all you want to do is follow your heart. You have allies on both sides, they both seem to be firm in their beliefs; where's the compromise? No matter which side you choose, you always seem to be the one in the wrong in some way, to the point where your own best friend can't trust you. His true allegiance is to his own heart, and I think that what reinforces my love of him as a character is his journey to that goal. Pretty deep for a 15-year-old.

2. Ryoma Nagare (Getter Robo Armageddon)

Posted ImagePosted Image

...what can I say about Ryoma? Well...he's a badass, for one. Total badass, and it doesn't even matter what incarnation of the Getter Robo series he's in. Being part of a three man team that controls a giant robot takes courage, determination, and connection between you and your fellow pilots, not to mention being hot-blooded and willing to fight no matter what the cost. What drew me to Ryoma was his insatiable drive to never give up; when things got bleak, he found a way to rise above it no matter what it took. Also, can't forget that he pilots one of the most edgy and awesome mechs in the series. He's...probably an exaggerated image of what I wish I could be: strong-willed, powerful, and above all? Badass. Yep.

3. Yukari Yakumo (Touhou Project)

I really have no reason for liking Yukari except for her design and the fanbase's interpretation of her character. She's witty, lazy, and pretty. Maybe that's a way to put it. There's also something I love about her design that I can't describe for the life of me. Her abilities intrigue me: the control of metaphysical boundaries, which can involve the breaking of said boundaries via pocket dimensions. Think Portal, but with the creation of gates to realms where physics and logic may or may not exist. Combine that with the fanon's interpretation that she's a dimension-jumping youkai with a penchant for screwing around with the main cast, and you have an entertaining character. I think the keychains, mousepad, massive wallpaper collection, and plushie explain it better than I can.

4. Reiji Moritsugu (Linebarrels of Iron)

Posted ImagePosted Image

Chief of the JUDA Corporation Special Task Force, Reiji's just...cool. Cool's a good word, actually. He's cold, calculating, intelligent, and a damn good leader. I sympathize with his character because of all the hardships he dealt with growing up, from being unable to feel pain to losing his sister at a young age. Sounds like the perfect edge-tier character, huh? Not quite. As a child, he was seemingly the only one of his classmates to believe that justice had to be served, at all costs. No matter what he did to be an "ally of justice," he would always bear the brunt of the pain directed at his friends, to the point where he often got into fights with the bullies; he would always stand up for the weak, by any means necessary. In a way, I can relate to his courage, and the wish to protect the weak. During the anime, he plays a sort of abusive father figure to the main character, Kouichi Hayase.

5. Black Rock Shooter (Black Rock Shooter)

Posted Image

Design. I think that's a reason above all for BRS's favoritism. There's also the obvious "THAT IS A GIANT CANNON AND I LOVE IT." Not to mention that she's probably the most interesting of the anime's Otherselves, and shows the most connection with her designated human (Mato Kuroi). It's neat to see how Mato's stress is given form through Black Rock's point of view as she deals with her classmates and her feelings, and the fights are awesome to watch. But yes. The art is pretty, so I'll stick with that.

Yeah, there is no way I can do this. I have a ridiculously hard time choosing my top 100 favorite characters, let alone my top five! There are just too many characters I love to death!

:( i would love to have seen your top 5.

You did it fine! ! I always loved Hook in KH1. The Diary of Ellen, is that about that woman who's son goes missing? I remember seeing a trailer for it, it looked quite spooky xD

Ren brings back some nostalgia, he always looked like he was high :D

It was her daughter. And yeah, it's a horror/drama, and a prequel to a longer film.

I would probably put other characters that aren't from only anime/manga or games, but I thought of these to make it quicker xD

EDIT: I changed the last one, I put in Seymour Guado because I didn't want to spam One Piece, but I'm just lying to myself xD

Honorable mentions: Seymour Guado (FFX), Dysley (FFXIII), Exdeath (FFV), Sephiroth (FFVII), Lightning (FFXIII), Golbez (FFIV), Tidus (FFX), Kuja (FFIX), The Emperor (FF Dissidia, FFII's story is so bad that he doesn't even develop as a good character), Saïx (KH), Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece), Roronoa Zoro (One Piece), etc.

Awesome man! I love Madara! Pain is amazing too, Seymour and Lucci also :D. Don't you like Obito? Try to add some explanation as to why like my original post says, even one sentence for each is fine. xD

I'm a bit short on time, that's why I'm not explaining xD

Obito was good...

Until he took his mask off, duh

I editted it now, I like Seymour, but not that much xD
