No voice recording done for Axel?

Posted

Source of information:

Someone asked Quinton Flynn, the voice of Axel/Lea from KH and Reno from the compilation of FF7 if he was reprising his role as Axel or Reno anytime soon, he replied with no not yet and that he's hoping too. The question specifically asked about Axel and Reno, not Lea and Reno.

It's possible that since Axel is playing a large role that Quinton wasn't allowed to say anything, same with Bill Farmer and Goofy (Goofy's accompanying us through most of the Disney worlds, he's gonna have quite a big role.). Jim Cummings plays Pete, Pooh bear and Tigger, which aren't big roles at all (Pete is Maleficent's sidekick, he's helping Maleficent go after the Tome of prophecies, not nearly as big a role as Goofy or Axel)

OR he could be taking it completely literal since the question posed was about Axel, not Lea. Also FF7 remake is a while away so it's expected that Reno hasn't had his voice acting done yet, since he's quite a minor character.

What are your thoughts/opinions on the topic?

Well I can understand the Reno part since he doesn't show up until later in FF7 I believe so he might not be in Episode 1 maybe, I don't know it's been a while since I've played FF7 and don't remember when he first shows up.  Also maybe it might be because Axel won't be in Kingdom Hearts 3 but Lea (something that really annoyed me of that video is that yes although Lea is Axel's Somebody he won't be voicing Axel but Lea, who are two different people but whatever) so he could be taking it that way.  Or, now I might be crazy about this one, is that voice acting for Kingdom Hearts 3 hasn't started yet, regardless of what Jim Cummings has said, I still think that it's something similar to the Bill Farmer situation that we had last year, or it could be like he said in the video that maybe Square is getting the smaller roles out of the way first, but I don't think that is the case since Jim also voices Pete, someone who will most likely be a big part of the story, a bigger part than he had in Kingdom Hearts 2.  While I don't want to discredit Jim Cummings for saying his work for Kingdom Hearts 3 is done I just don't believe it, and sure Square hasn't said anything yet about the matter but they probably haven't heard about it yet, (or they are probably trying to think of a pun like they did with the Bill Farmer thing again), or this could be different since Bill said that the game was coming out that year and Square probably wanted to get that it wasn't. I just don't like the fact that everyone is thinking this to be true because if Square dose come out and says that they haven't done voice acting yet for Kingdom Hearts 3 I feel like people will attack Jim because of what he said when it's not his fault.  I don't know I will only believe the developers when it comes to stuff about video games, like how it's coming along and whats being done with it so far, again not to discredit voice actors but when it comes to this I trust the people who are working on the game the most.  But who knows we will see around E3

Just because Quinton hasn't started VA doesn't mean the voice acting hasn't started. And its not like everyone records at the same time too... So sure, Quinton might have not started yet, but possibly other people have.. And Jim Cummings could be telling the truth.

But like what KingdomKid said, we can't know until the developers say something.

At this time I also expected this. I believe it's still too early for english voice recordings.

A global release isn't entirely out of the question though. Rough drafts for English voice acting may have started.

You're right. That may be true. Considering that Jim Cummings said that he's done with his part in KH3.

Its odd, but many different studios and companies run there processes differently. The idea behind recording smaller roles first is odd, and pretty confusing but there is no doubt he will do his recordings at some point.

Have they even started in Japan? I mean they're not even done with the game. I know animated movies do voices first, but I'm not sure about games. Even so, I would expect them to at least have the Japanese voices done before moving on to other languages. I think it's just too soon to tell considering the game in question is still in delevlopment and not going to be released anytime soon.

Or he just simply hasn't started voice work yet. Just because Jim Cummings and possibly Bill Farmer are done with their voicework doesn't mean that everyone else is, or has even started yet. Flynn will voice him in good time, don't worry.

It's not even halfway done yet, and people are expecting VA's for the game?

I have to admit, seeing as how he hasn't gotten there yet kind of hints that we will see MANY characters in KH3 and the process to record all voices for every character will be a while. I assume they do it one at a time to avoid any confusion and to get it right the first time and Quinton Flynn hasn't been called on yet, but will in due time.
