OK, so I've been examining people's reputation report lately.It has occured to me that some members are like "heres a rep for nothing" or "heres a rep to make you even" Not to sound mean or anything, that sounds like a insult to me like they didn't deserve the rep. I think we should describe exactly WHY we gave the person the rep, not like "heres a rep for nothing" or "heres a rep to make u even".

I totally agree. I mean, if you really have nothing to say, just don't rep me. >.> It's annoying.

Exactly, do not rep someone to make it "even" or for "nothing." Making it "even" looks bad and can be taken as an insult for some members, please add reputations with a good reason and really think about why you are giving them that rep, please do not give reps out for "nothing." And of course, if you have any problems with the rep system then please contact an admin or mod.

Nah not possible. Unless we looked at each rep individually, which is a ridiculous amount of work.

well, people who rep for no reason are generally people expecting reps back, trying to increase their count

I thought it was optional to give a reason.

 

And I do see that a lot. It's not a good reason to rep someone like that. Reps are for commenting on a member that has done something good. Not for something stupid.

Like let's see who can get to 100 reps first or why don't we just get postives only and not neutrals. I say, we remove the rep system and have a friends list instead. No one can view your "friends list", only you can so there won't be any arguments. Isn't this site just to post and have fun anyways. I admit I was all about reps at first but now I'm too busy IMing people and having fun. ^_^

You should. It's completely true. I honestly don't see the point in rep. When HellFire told me about it when I first joined, I was thinking, "Why in the world do we need this?"

He told me that basically it's a level of respect that you earn on the forum.(or something along those lines)

what if you have the ability to delete positive reps you don't want?

an alternative is getting rid of neutrals and being able to delete all reps

Deleting rep ratings, would be rude and pointless.

If you have a problem with a rep rating, then PM a Mod.

Some people like the rep system. Some probably try to go into competition into who can get the most reps (Even though I think that's quite ridiculous.) I wouldn't care if we had a rep system or not

But DChiuch removed it.

Random suggestion, but what if instead of the Mods & Admins checking that, we had someone who looked through the reps and approved them or something?

I know, but I meant someone ELSE. Not the Mods or Admins, 'cause that's too much with everything else they have to do.
