It looks like a sequel to Splatoon is shaping up to be on the cards. According to producer Hisashi Nogami, the Wii U shooter might eventually get a follow-up if enough fans show their support toward the original game. Since Splatoon is the start of a brand-new franchise, Nintendo wants to make sure it is handling it with care. You can read Nogami’s comment about a potential Splatoon 2 below:

“We want to raise this new IP with care, so maybe we’ll get a chance to make it happen if players support us.”

Honestly, I would love a sequel to Splatoon. I really enjoyed the original game and I;m even enjoying it now. Speaking of which i can't wait for the Pokemon-themed Splatfest this week. I'll be voting for Pokemon Red. But as for the sequel, I would like one but not this soon. the first Splatoon still has good replay value. Let's just enjoy the original game and take time for a sequel. But if they are going to make a sequel, than there are some changes/improvement I'd like to see such as:

More content. I seriously would love it if they could add in more content for the sequel like more weapon choices/customization, and more gear. Especially at launch and as well as the single player campaign. Like, the single player campaign could definitely use more replay value.  Also let's ditch the stage rotation. it gets very annoying. The 2 stages per rotation is flawed imo. Also maybe you could expand on the amiibo functionality.

So long as they don't milk it with a yearly release like Call of Duty.

I want to play as an Octoling.

Also, #TeamBlue

Something tells me the sequel is going to be a new 3ds exclusive.

As long as they balance it out or don't over saturate it like Mario. Mario in my opinion is used a bit too much. Yes his games are almost always different but some of them could work for other characters or completely new ones. Yes he is their mascot but you don't see Warner Bros. slapping Bugs bunny on every theatrical film or Namco making a Pacman Tennis. They need to balance new IPs with old ones to get an equal amount of love.

More like Nintendo NX exclusive.

I agree. I really wish they made another F-Zero or Earthbound game.

It would be very surprising if this didn't get a sequel. Unlike other Nintendo IPs such as Metroid, Splatoon sold very well (more than 4 million). A Splatoon sequel would be a good launch title for the NX.

they had better make a sequel. they have a golden opportunity for a pun title.

"Spla2oon"

go for it nintendo

Quite a while ago Shigesato Itoi, Earthbound's creator, said that he was done with the series.
