An interesting 'What If' for the KH series.

Allow me to elaborate, if you've played FF13 or seen footage you can't deny the graphics look gorgeous, there are tons of interesting sound effects and the sheer quality of the game is just  .  We've never received a KH game even close to that, we're in 2016 too!  The art in the original BBS and Days are just  (handhelds titles ofc), if the series was like I stated-the devs would have more time to work on the game, thus less restrictions and dumbing down of the art style, more resources. Heck, even the combat systems could've been better (no more floaty combos).

What do you guys think? Please read the whole post before you type anything

I hugely disagree with this section. The reason KH has never looked anything similar to FFXIII is due to difference in art style, not because of restrictions. The games are made by the same company for godsake, of course they could have KH look FFXIII if they wanted to. As for "dumbing" down the graphics, that's a result due to SE and Nomura's decision to spread the franchise across other platforms. And that desicion has nothing to do with it all being one big story rather than being a bunch of stand-alones. It would have happened anyways. FF too is spreading like wildfire across platforms. FF Tactics for example isn't exactly on pare with FFXIII's graphics. There is also no reason for why the combat would have evolved anymore had the franchise taken a different path. Besides the gameplay of Kingdom Hearts has evolved a lot since its first game, and the franchise has tested out a bunch of new things with each game.

Your thoughts on how KH could have turned out after KHII are interesting, but I gotta agree with JTD here!  The KH games are fine the way they are, and the way they are designed makes 'em unique, ya know?  I mean sure, it can be like Final Fantasy, but I don't want KH turning into Final Fantasy, ya know?  KH has its own identity that's uniquely mashed in with Disney and Square!  That's the sandwich I love to eat! :3

And true, I understand what you say about each numbered entry being different, because all numbered Final Fantasy games are different from each other, but I like Kingdom Hearts's story structure the way it is, ya know?  We get a slow build up of drama, and we get to literally grow with these characters, ya know?  But yeah, that's just my two cents on this whole debate! :3

KH is doing fine. A KH saga without Sora, Riku, Kairi, Terra, Ven, Aqua, Xion, or Roxas is a KH I hope I never have to see.

i definitely feel like KH2 should have wrapped up the trilogy containing KH, CoM and KH2 and then Nomura could have release KH3 to kick start a new saga. an eight game saga is a bit overkill, imo.

i wouldn't agree that the series would become like Final Fantasy with new characters in each story arch. i don't think there's anything wrong with keeping Sora, Donald and Goofy as the main protagonists and i have no issues with them.

as for the gameplay, they've actually sort of been doing what you suggested. ever since KH2 they've been experimenting with the gameplay to find something unique and they hit that goal with the command system, in their opinion, because that's what they decided to run with. personally i prefer the combat of KH1/2 but whatever.

bottom line is this: KH2 had such a perfect ending. the game had a strong feeling of closure throughout it. Plot lines were wrapped up with Disney and Final Fantasy characters alike, Sora fulfilled his promise to bring Riku back to the islands as well as return Kairi's good luck charm. The world was saved and everything was fixed. Bada bing bada boom. Great ending, good night.

KH2 should have been the end of it, you've earned a like just by saying this xD

As Headphone Jack said, the gameplay has been changing slightly, that's already been achieved.

Also, while this really is a cool idea, there would be no point for Square to do this, FF already does what you say, why make KH do the same? They just want a game that's got a lot of games that join up forming a story because FF already does that other part by itself (having a different story per game). I see where you're coming from, and at first this would be good, but only one of the two would end up standing if they were this similar.

As for the graphics, I totaly agree with you. People have said that KH focuses in cartoony graphics... this shouldn't make a difference, it could be done a lot better, just take a look at Zelda Twilight Princess or some Tales of game, those have got good graphics and are cartoony, KH has good graphics in their games that aren't in handheld consoles, the rest of them aren't brilliant (actually, they're terrible, especially the DS and GBA ones).
