Why Doesn't Nintendo Put NGC Games On Wii U VC?

Posted

Seriously. They've put, GBA, N64, and Wii games out on the Wii U's virtual console but, uh...WHAT ABOUT THE GAMECUBE GAMES!? Nintendo has some great GameCube titles that I can see be on the VC like Paper Mario: TTYD,  Mario Power Tennis, Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour, Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion 1, Star Fox: Assault, and Smash bros Melee. Seriously, do they have any idea how much of a smart move that would be? Especially since they gave us the NGC controllers for Smash Wii U. Those controllers have only been used for Smash bros Wii U. Having NGC virtual titles would give us more games to use with them (and give me a reason to getting a NGC controller for a Wii U).

Yeah, that will definitely affect their revenue. They are probably still working their way around it because it took quite a while for SNES games to come on 3DS. Even when it did come, it only became available on the new 3DS. So, give them a bit of time, even if they did take longer than necessary.

Its possible that the reason why they havent put Gamecube games on the VC is cause of the gamepad. With the gamecube controller, the trigger buttons had a unique function as to where if you tapped them lightly or pushed hard, youd get a different reaction. Games like Super Mario Sunshine and Melee designed the games with that feature in mind(Fludd would put out more or less water depending on how you tapped the button/Melee had the whole light shield mechanic). But when you jump to the Gamecube to WiiU, that feature is gone with the gamepad(the triggers are automatic)

With that in mind, games like Sunshine and Melee wouldnt work the same cause the gamepad got rid of this small feature that the Gamecube controllers had. So unless they decide to make Gamecube VC games exclusively playable with only the adapters they released for Smash WiiU, I honestly think we wont be getting Gamecube games anytime soon.

I really want them to release GC games on VC. I have 98% of the games I would play on vc already but it'd be fun to put a use to the gamecube controller adapter I have that only works on smash bros

Given that they're already missing a lot of important games for the systems that are already supported through VC (Especially here in America, where we're lucky to get something 6 months after Europe), I'd say it's for the best that they're not adding in another system. It'd be better to fill in the gaps on the SNES, N64, GBA, and DS if you ask me.

I think if the Wii U had been a huge success then the VC library would be far better than what it currently is, this includes the option of Gamecube games. Nintendo aren't updating the Wii U VC as often as anybody would like and the prices on some games (Wii ones in particular) do put people off even getting them. That said! I do believe they had plans to put the Gamecube on it, but simply didn't bother. If they added Gamecube games to the eShop now then it'd suffer the same fate as the N64 and DS titles... As in, there is barely any of them and they update them very infrequently.

Although lostmemory123 makes a good point about the controller issues too.

Oh, the irony.

maybe they are waiting for the NX?

What lostmemory123 said,Nintendo really like the gamepad and some GC games wouldn't work unfortunatly.Hopefully the NX will have GC games on VC

I feel like it's simply because of emulation. Unless there's already a GC game running, then I dunno why they haven't yet.

It's definitely strange. From what I have seen, hackers have been able to run GC games near-flawlessly on Wii U via Wii mode, so "emulation" wouldn't be an issue, I would think? They could have run them like the Wii game downloads you can buy on the eShop. Maybe it's something different, like the triggers, as stated above, I dunno.

I imagine it could come to NX, but I really don't know. If Nintendo was smart, they would launch NX with a whole mess of VC games; some Gamecube and Wii Games the entire Wii/Wii U/3DS library of VC titles and then some. Heck, throw in Dreamcast even! But, Nintendo doesn't always do what seems logical. They do things their own way, regardless of the reception. Yet, I hope they realize that if they want to make money on the NX, then they'll really have to offer up what their fans want, bringing out the big guns. We'll see in due time. No later than E3, hopefully.
