Cool, Xenoverse 2 is official.  Definitely looking forward to more news on it.

This list more than likely won't have EVERY character ever as at the very least Dragon Ball Heroes is updating with new characters and forms for existing characters all the time, but it includes most of them. If I miss any out, just quote me and  tell me who. Also no idea why Spoilers aren't working but I'm gonna keep them there because it puts them in a nice neat box. I was going to include Dragon Ball but I honestly cannot be bothered.

It's cool. The only spoilers I really care about are the Super ones. I'm trying to avoid those until the US gets a dub. I may try the first few episodes of the Asian English dub, but I'm picky about Goku's voice. I really prefer a male for him as an adult.

So happy there is a thread for this. I can't wait for 2. I loved the first one a lot.

Well gee, thanks for ruining the "Take That Shulk" joke, mods. Now it serves no purpose. I wanna to the OP, dammit. DX

Here is a follow up scan for the game that was translated two weeks ago (my apologies for not finding this sooner) in an article from ShonenGameZ.com.

As implied by both the trailer and this scan, the game seems to be suggesting that a big feature of the story will be that players can alter the DragonBall storyline instead of just correcting it like in the first game.

I still don't get it actually ._. Makes more sense knowing that you made it though.

Wait, I get it now. xD

It's cool that we can have more of an impact on the overall progression of DB. That makes this one sound even more interesting. I'm going to have to finish the first soon so I can move on to this once I get a PS4.

I wonder how much impact we'll have. Like ChrononTrigger Impact or older DBZ alt story route impacts.

I hope Future Gohan will have 1 arm. It completely defeats the purpose of Future Gohan if he has 2.

Every other video game featuring Future Gohan has had him with two arms.

Not counting DragonBall Z Sagas.... because it sucks.

That's because most of the hardware couldn't handle him. But PS4 and XBOne can most likely handle it.

That's because most of the hardware couldn't handle him. But PS4 and XBOne can most likely handle it.

In any case, it wouldn't be too complicated regardless of what hardware was being used. BT3 and RB2 proved that as long as you centered most of Future Gohan's moveset around him using one arm to strike or grab while still having the model have both arms attached, you can easily get around it. If Dimps can apply that to their Future Gohan, it would work out. Of course, there's also other things you have to factor in, like how their Future Gohan might be an alternate slot for their Buu Arc Gohan model like it was in the first game.(EDIT: 6/14/16)

E3 has brought us a quick look at the combat for the game, featured in a battle between Future Gohan and Tullece.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORpUy3WNtZ4This clip shows that some changes have been made to the overall structure of the gameplay system: there's more environmental damage taking place, there seems to be some new movement burst-type sequences similar to the Budokai Tenkaichi/Raging Blast series, new vanishing attacks/sequences, possibly new SSJ or general form transformations ala Future Gohan, and either the system now has some sort of new "finisher" mechanic where you can end your combos with a special attack or it's part of the fixed combo.

I'm liking the new gameplay, it seems a lot faster paced than XV, it's 60fps this time AND it shows two new character's styles. Now to wait for the official E3 trailer. Because this won't be the official one.

YouTube channel Rhymestyle has uploaded a video reporting about an official press release from Bandai Namco EU, as well as details featured in this article by Game Informer.

EDIT:

YouTube channel DBZanto Z has uploaded a video compiling various high quality screenshots of the game, all taken from new content in the game, including a screenshot that suggests Cooler will appear in a segment in the game involving the Freeza Arc of the timeline.

YouTube Rhymestyle goes further in-depth with his coverage of game information from E3 in a video where he talks about fandom feedback and game elongation past its release date.

As well as with this interview with Masayuki Hirano, the game's producer.

YouTube channel Rhymestyle is reporting a new (untranslated) scan for the game.

EDIT (6/24/16)

Gaming website Siliconera posted an article featuring an interview with producer Matsuyuki Hirano about what changes and fixes from the first Xenoverse are going to be implemented into the sequel, as well as other miscellaneous information.

Here's the rundown:
  • [*]A new mechanic called the Reverse Dash, which can be used to automatically pursue an opponent during battle. Cited as a fix to the issue in the first game where players got cheap wins by letting the clock run out and spamming long range attacks. "If you’re pursuing the enemy and they suddenly do a ki blast to you, you won’t be able to avoid it. During this dash if you put in a special command after you dash towards the opponent you will be able to change the direction you’re flying to get behind them. You will be able to dodge and prepare for a counterattack at the same time." - Hirano. (This is most likely a mechanic we've seen in the Future Gohan vs. Tulleuce video). [*]Another new mechanic called Stamina Break where you can siphon off your opponent's stamina in order to fix the issue of easy combo breaks due to abusing the quick teleport counter. "If you’re doing a combo they won’t be able to avoid your attack that easily." - Hirano [*]Hirano commented on how he and the team are very open to fan feedback, but that it would also be difficult as they want to reach a balance between pleasing casual players versus hardcore fighting game fans. [*]The character creation options are going to be heavily increase, although there will be no new races. Instead, the team is focusing on expanding the experience with the races already pre-established in the first game. [*]As speculated, Conton City, the new hub world for the game, is going to be much larger than TokiToki City, so much that the player can fly around, as we've seen before. Hirano also mentions there will be side-quests where the player can travel to places such as Planet Namek or Freeza's Spaceship, and can use a brand new teleportation system to "see more of the DragonBall world". - Hirano. [*]Being able to talk to other players in said areas is also touted as a new feature which is most likely hinting at some sort of expansion with the regular chat services from the first game.

EDIT: (6/25/16)

Another interview with Matsuyuki Hirano done by gaming website RPG Site (which can be read here) has surfaced, and Hirano continues to dive into specific territory concerning the game.

  • Once again, Conton City will be much larger than TokiToki City and thus, able to interact with more players at a time. Hirano also comments that there will be a lot more online features implemented and will be one of the biggest differences between this game and the original Xenoverse.
  • In terms of roster balancing: the characters will be balanced accordingly to how powerful they are in the show i.e. SSJB Goku can easily beat Yamcha, but there will also be some breathing room where if you're good enough at the game that you can still have a chance at beating opponents regardless of this power scaling.
  • The team is also working on the issue of spam by balancing out attacks so that people will use different attacks while in combat.
  • On the subject of character customization: there will be more costumes to choose from, more features, and the ability to essentially wear whatever costume you want without being bogged down by stats like in the first game.
  • Hirano comments on co-op features that the team is working hard to make it a great experience, but can't comment further than that.
  • Hirano says that it will be difficult to include DragonBall Super characters into the game due to the time it takes to make one character, but hopes to include them in the game either during release or possibly after release, most likely as part of a season pass or other DLC content like the first game.
  • Since the game will only run on current-gen home consoles, the team is given much more freedom to maximize the power of the PS4 and Xbone for console releases.
  • On the subject of the RNG issue that many fans complained about in the first game, the feature has not been totally eliminated from the game, but Hirano confirms that acquiring items through this system will be much, much easier than in in the first game.
  • PVP battles will not suffer from as much lag, and benefit from the new Stamina Break feature, which I mentioned in a previous post, but have a clearer definition thanks to this interview: "... you can hit a specific attack against an opponent they’ll lose their stamina so that they won’t be able to avoid your attack during a combo." - Hirano
  • Also mentioned is Burst Dash, which again was already covered and clearly explained earlier.
  • The last bit is regarding the story: Hirano confirms that players can change events in the storyline as the conflict is focused on the character's choices to change history versus putting history back together again. Another deeply implemented theme is "generations", with characters Future Gohan and Trunks, Bardock and Goku, and the original Time Patroller and your new Time Patroller cited as examples. This may also be a hint to certain gameplay mechanics that will be available in the story mode as well.

  • 2 weeks later...

Nice to see there will be more options for created characters.  Another big plus is actually being able to wear whatever you want without having to worry over certain stats.

At least item drops will be better in this game than the last.

I have a feeling I'll be traveling around Conton City for a good while, whether by hoverboard or flying on my own.

Wait, so the old Time Patroller and the new one are both going to have a role in this game...? I'd imagine those of us that got the game on PS3/X360 won't be able to do so, but it would be cool if it's possible to transfer over the same character from the first game (unless that is possible and I just missed it ._.)

I really hope that's the case.  As much as I like Xenoverse 1, I don't want to buy it again just so I can transfer some stuff.

I don't think there'd be a way to transfer over from the PS3/X360 to PS4 or X1, sadly. If there is, I'd be very happy. Otherwise, stuck with the default stuff I guess.

Based on what we've seen, the original Time Patroller that you played as in-universe is going to be, like, revered as a hero for his actions in the first game story-wise, but beyond that, we don't know what it means gameplay wise. Maybe you can transfer data, maybe you won't, but as of now, it's just sort of up in the air.

I figured that much from the big statue of the default Patroller in the teaser trailer. Having a way to transfer him/her over would be pretty cool, though. xD

I had the first one on the xb1 so I'm losing out on the transfer if anything, but you should be able to do a ps3 to ps4 transfer as GTA and Destiny both do this. GTA can transfer from ps3 to xb1 or ps4 same if it goes from 360. Destiny is account based so it's technically not a transfer but your characters exist on ps3 and ps4 simultaneously due to the connection it has to the bungie account. Unless they're too lazy to do it as well, they should be able to work out a transfer system like this for Xenoverse 2.

An account based one is what I initially thought of, but the first Xenoverse didn't use any sort of account so I didn't think it'd work that way. GTA allowing transfers gives me some hope, though. I'd love to see statues of my character around the new town. xD

I'd personally would like to bring over my original time-patroller and expand upon their story rather than that of a new one.

That would also be fun, but getting a new perspective sounds nice too, especially if the old and new Patrollers are supposed to interact.
