Will Skyward Sword HD (assuming it's going to get confirmed later this year) release in late 2016-early 2017

Posted

assuming that zelda breath of the wild is going to get delayed again to late 2017, we'll need a remake/remaster of a game to hold us over I guess because the producer of the zelda series, himself said that Skyward Sword HD is possible. Keep in mind that just because Skywrd Sword HD has wii controls doesn't make the game likely for it to be remade. A great example of this is DDDHD. Despite having 3ds touch screen controls, SE somehow made the game playable on the ps4 with slight gameplay changes

If Aonuma-san himself said it's possible, then I guess it's possible. Although I don't think making a remake just to "hold people over" until BotW is a very good reason to make it. I mean, TPHD came out in... March...? I think .-. Also you did predict TPHD while I didn't think they'd do it xP But I digress.

Anyway, if they did remake it, would they change the controls to be button-oriented? Because seeing how a lot of the combat is based off of the ability to be (somewhat maybe) precise with your sword movements, they'd have to completely adjust a lot of things... or idk, use the Touch Screen /shotshot. Granted, having lots of change might make it different enough to make it a fresh experience, but it would probably take a lot of effort, and it'd be in the span of... not even a year. (Meanwhile in DDD, the mechanics that were adjusted weren't as fundamental, except for the few times Reality Shift is necessary I suppose. Speaking of DDDHD I wonder how you pet your Dream Eaters and play Flick Rush.)

If they do go through with a SSHD, I think they should wait until after BotW to do it.

I'm not sure if we need yet another Zelda remaster for the Wii U. Didn't they delay it for the 2nd time to port it to the NX and have it as a launch title? Why would Nintendo want to delay it again?

Well, I did remember reading something about a Skyward Sword HD being possible, but I dunno, I think Nintendo should focus on Breath Of The Wild and finally put it out there!  They could leave SSHD for after that, ya know? :)

Skyward Sword HD test was made during breath of the wild's development, so it's not much of a push that nintendo could announce Skyward Sword HD near the end of this year because they already, and I repeat, already have idea on how to make a skyward sword HD. I don't think they have to mess with the motion controls in the game because it's called zelda for wii  for a reason, so in my opinion, it's better if they don't mess with the motion controls. If they toke away the motion controls, skyward sword wouldn't really be zelda for wii anymore. Skyward Sword HD doesn't have to work with the wii u gamepad. It could just be an HD version of the same game

Releasing remakes/remasters doesn't cause other games to get delayed

Already having an idea isn't the same as already having it executed, or in the process of being executed, though. Although if they don't change the controls then it's probably not a big deal. (Although I didn't see anything about keeping it as a "Zelda for Wii" in those two articles either.)

But if it would actually just be SS on the Wii U but still with Wii controls and just in HD... I just don't see the point, unless they make adjustments to segments of the game or add content or something.

That's what I think they'll do

if they do make it I doubt it will be before BotW, anyone that wants to play it can just buy it for the wii u. They may make a port for the eshop on the NX but they really need this new Zelda game first to boost sales of NX on launch or no one is going to care.

oot3d released five months before skyward sword released and it still received good reviews, so if a skyward sword hd were to pop up five months before zelda breath of the wild releases, the same thing could happen depending how good the remake/remaster it is

also, twilight princess for the wii can be played on the wii u and it got a remaster on the wii u this year so, the same thing could happen with the possible skyward sword HD

I'm sure it can get great reviews, but ocarina was like 13 at the time and SS isn't even 5 yet. and it's not going to increase launch sales if BotW gets delayed.

I'm pretty sure that if Skyward Sword HD gets confirmed, it won't delay zelda breath of the wild even farther. The number of years the game has been out doesn't really matter because DDD came out in 2012 and it's getting an HD version on the ps4 this year so, it's possible for the same thing to happen for the possible Skyward Sword HD

but the KH remasters are are for fans that didnt buy all the handheld titles and for people that want to play everything leading up to kh3. I'm not rejecting the possibility of an HD remaster coming out soon, I'm just saying no one is going to buy it now, it's too young and people will probably rather save up for BotW.

The last of us got a remastered version on the ps4 in 2014, a year after the original game came out so you can't say since it's too young people won't buy the HD version

If Nintendo was smart, they would release Skyward Sword HD sometime this year or something and then have Breath of the Wild be an NX launch title.

the difference is that that was right before the launch of a new console with a critically acclaimed game that was still brand new and even then the sales were only about 15 percent of the original games total sales.

Based on the fact that the director of the zelda series said himself that it's definitely possible that Skyward Sword HD is possible, one could assume that they could have the time to develop it. Since breath of the wild is releasing less then a year from now (might change in the future) they could co develop Skyward Sword HD with another company similar to the development of Majora's Mask 3d

I never though Skyward Sword HD could even be a thing but I do remember reading that Aonuma(I believe)said it could happen. If the NX is compatible with the Wii remote it'd make sense otherwise I wonder if Skyward Sword can work with a regular controller. They could probably map the sword swings to the C-stick or the B button + a direction on the stick and all items that uses motion controls like the bettle or the bow could easily be rework to fonction with the regular control stick.

It'd be very surprising to see an other Zelda game out before breath of the wild assuming its still coming out on march 2017,but this year is the 30th anniversary, its been 7 months and Nintendo barely talked about it and they said already that they have plans for it so who knows, maybe that's one of the reasons why BotW was delayed, but personally I'd say its unlikely that we see Skyward Sword HD before BotW.

What if the possible reveal of skyward sword HD is for zelda's 30th anniversary?

But as of now there is a new game on the horizon, twilight princess JUST came out, and the 3d remasters were on a handheld that had way more sales. there will be no hype for SS right now and it wont sell nearly as well if they released it before a game as built up as BotW. it'd be better to wait at least a year after BotW when SS isnt the last true console game that came out.

I still disagree with you. I think it's still possible. I'm not giving up until the very end.  the possible skyward sword hd doesn't need to be released now. It could be released a few months from now. oot3d was in the "new zelda game on hte horizon" back when Skyward Sword wasn't released to the public yet and it still was very successful. If oot3d was able to release five months before skyward sword came out, the same could happen with the possible skyward sword hd

I know it could happen but sales would be ass unless it was like a $20 port. OoT was the first 3d zelda that was widely recognized as the best 3d game to many fans and it was put on a handheld, not the wii, and it sold MORE than SS! unless the somehow shove SS on the 3ds your arguement doesnt transfer.

Yes, it does. If they make immibo functionality with the possible skyward sword HD, it's still possible. Again, i'm going to see this through til the very end. I'm not giving up now. People have said that Twilight Princess HD wouldn't happen for a few more years and look what we got this year, Twilight Princess HD. There is no way the possible Skyward Sword HD is going to be on the 3ds because it wouldn't be zelda for wii anymore. unless they decide to totally remake the game, they can't change the controls for the game at all. Skyward Sword will lose the gameplay element that made it skyward sword, the motion controls. Just to let you know, all of the things i've been saying about SSHD up until now will be 100 valid IF SSHD gets confirmed, so just because you say that my argument is invalid now doesn't mean it will be in the future.

Yeah,if they remaster Skyward Sword on Wii U for 2016 its definitly not gonna sell well unless there's some major changes for this port that would get people exited.A lot of Zelda fans don't like the game and the Wii U doesn't have a big install base like the Wii had

If nintendo is managing to release  Color Splash this year, then they could release skyward sword hd this year. I mean the director of the zelda series did say that it's definitely possible. Definitely possible meaning that the director of the zelda series thinks he can HDify the game. If nintendo gives the HD remaster to another company like they did with Twilight Princess HD, it shouldn't be a problem.

I think they said simlar things for Majora Mask 3D,Twilight Princess HD and more DLC for Hyrule Warriors after The Hero of Hyrule pack DLC, before they all came out, they said some thing like they were willing to do those and they all happen that's why I think there's a chance we see Skyward Sword HD at some point,I'm just not sure about when it will happen
