There are Technos, those who wish to create technology. Anthros, those who want to connect with Earth itself. The Medivals, those who focus more on the Dark Ages. And The Citys, which treat each culture equally and experiment by combining them in unique ways. But soon...A great evil is about to arise...The same evil that came in the past...And I assume you all want to hear the tale that will be told...The story of how an unlikely team...Allies...Friends...Came together and saved the world while facing hardships, discoveries, and regrets...This is the story...The Legend...The myth of how...In the City of Aquila...Where classmates joined together to explore the world never tamed....

A building that was the size of a Skyscraper stood alongside buildings of unthinkable height. People came and went on their normal lives, playing on their phones, trying to get to work on time, and of course, kids playing around on the sidewalk.

With everything that was happening outside, it was a very important day for some at the Aquilia Combat School. (The building that was as tall as a skyscraper)

In one room, many students, roughly 30-35 students, talked and roamed around Room 408, a class that specializes in offensive and defensive skills. One student wore a Red Mage outfit with a black feather instead of the traditional white feather. Her body was laid back in her desk, with her feet crossed and resting on top of her desk. Her hands were behind her head and her hat covered her eyes. Sure, the class was bit loud, but it didn't bother her. She was used to it.

"Today's the big day!" A female student said.

"I'm a bit nervous...I-I don't know if I'll do well..." A male student said.

"Hey, cheer up! We're all doing this together you know. We'll be by your side and help you out." A male student said with a higher-pitched voice.

"Hah! Don't make me laugh." Another female student suddenly said. She looked to be about 17, given her appearance and height. Her hair was long and blonde and her clothes were more on a rebel styled attire. A smirk was on her face as she overheard the recent conversation. She leaned on the side of the wall with her arms crossed and her eyes closed. "You low-lives won't even remember how to punch once you get there. Unlike me, you don't stand a chance." She said with a very confident, yet rude tone.

"Says the garbage bagged girl." The Red Mage said. The classroom giggled a bit at her comment. The Rebel clothed girl growled at the Red Mage and opened her mean eyes. "Shut it, Solisa. Once I'm through with you, you'll be "Sol-Loser"." The Rebel responded.

"Wow...." The Red Mage replied. "That pun was as outdated as your clothing. Not-To-Be-Sold." The class bursts into laughter. The Red Mage wasn't afraid of this cocky-bully. "Why you little...!" The Rebel then walked to the Red Mage's desk and slammed her hands on the Red Mage's desk. "Listen, you peeping pipsqueak. I'm trying not to get in trouble today. So shut up or else I'll pound you before the exam even starts! Got it!?"

"....That's it? You'll pound me? Sheesh, for trying to be a good student I'm glad you ain't an angel Sara."

"SHUT UP!!" Sara yelled out with rage. "Don't make me come back, you Mage maggot." With that, she took a deep breath and walked back to her spot, leaning against the wall and crossed her arms.

Aaron gobbled the great food of the connosieur cook. Barbecued ribs, seared steak, sweet delicacies topped with strawberry preserve... So tasty and amazing! Aaron became so carefree and helpless that he couldn't help but down all the food, making casual conversation as he gouged it down... But someone was missing. Ms. Genka was likely within the cockpit with Cid, but... Laz. He hadn't seen her since he left with Sara around.

An ominous chill tingled through Aaron's body. Something wasn't right... Something just wasn't. Taking his leave, Aaron entered the main hall with a cautious sense. The Crimson gem on his right arm imbued a neon glow, and rays of red and silver shot into the air next to Aaron. They bounced in a wild frenzy, until what came to materialize in Aaron's hand was a silver sword, where the seams of the blade seemed to seep with lava. His eyes flashed a neon green, and a symbol of a similar color flashed shortly on the palm of his hand, then the Rays that created it danced in a cloud of neon and dissipated in the air.

Aaron cautiously stepped through the ship's main hall. A sudden thump boomed through the air. Aaron jerked his head towards the four rooms, but they made no sound... Instead it seemed like the sound came from another part of the ship.

Where the hell is she? Is everyone downstairs alright? Aaron pondered. I have to warn Ms. Genka!

The airship was making sudden rough movements that was making everything shake. The lights in airship flickered on and off. Then suddenly, the entire ship made a 'thump' sound and tilted to the right, making everything move down against the wall.

"WOOOAH!!" The girls' exclaimed as their seats and tables were sliding down. A loud impacting sound was crated when the tables hit the wall. When Sara's table jerked, a plate full of food hit her face. The plate slowly slid off showing her food covered makeover. "....This ain't me day...Not at all." She said.

"Attention! Attention students. We have reached our destination...In a unfashionable matter." The explorer laughed heartedly. Solisa sighed along with Snow, who sighed also. "That's Uncle Cid for ya. Hee Hee Hee!"

Ms. Genka and Cid helped the students get off the knocked over airship. Cid nervously chuckled a little while rubbing the back of his neck. "Sorry about that."

"It's fine. Really, it is. The class is okay and that's all that matters." She replied.

Kelon shook his head as he got off the ship, looking at it before then glancing at the exam site. He also looked at the others, and at the exam site. He was thinking about what he would do after it was over. Now that he and the others got there, he couldn't let up on his cover for a second. He began to think of something else entirely, and folded his arms. "So, it was just an airship quirk, eh? At least it wasn't... It..." Muttered Kelon, whispering to himself.

Aaron didn't feel very safe after that ride on the Ark. His face squashed along the side of the ship and he almost felt like he'd fling off any moment when the show tilted. Gladly he was okay and it was only Cid.

"Ouuuucchhhh!" It wasn't Aaron's day today it seemed. He was glad that Ms. Genka gave him a helping hand up.

He he looked a bit pathetic and queasy off the ship, and his eyes a sickly green color, but he was alright. For the most part. Aaron wanted to believe it was anything but Cid and the ship...

Aaron's leg twitched

It seemed that the ship shaking like this was far more common than Cid had let on, as his newest message came up on the speakers.  Not to mention that Ms. Genka wan't at all fazed by this as she helped Laz off the ship before going back and helping the others.

Normally, the Anthros teen would have been ecstatic being out in the open and seeing something new, but she was too preoccupied by what had happened earlier.  Was that really just a dream?  But it felt too real, and I still got the stuff I found there.  But... I guess I could've gotten them from somewhere else; I didn't exactly have time to stash the treasure I found earlier before that guard found me.  Those daggers though are missing, and I couldn't have left them in a dream.  But maybe I dropped them somewhere... oh I don't know what's going on...  She was still worrying over her thoughts to be paying attention to anything else.

"Oh! Lazuli." Ms. Genka called out. "Catch." She said before she tossed Laz's daggers in the air. "I found them on the floor while you were unconscious. You'll need them for the exam. Speaking of which..." She began to walk forward towards the large, silver dome behind the class. "Welcome to the Combat Exam Site class."Solisa let out a grin of excitement. She could feel her blood boiling with anticipation. This was it. The Combat Exam was finally here! She jumped in the air with her fist up. "Woo-Hoo! This is gonna be awesome!" She blurted out of excitement.

Still feeling a bit queasy, Aaron was excited to see that Solisa was ready to get this exam on. The conditions of the exam intrigued him.
What was the next step? And where were they? Aaron followed Ms. Genoa in bewilderment.

Grace chuckled when Solisa got super excited about the exam. "Slow your hor-" she then saw Sara and the others got covered in food as she giggled. "I'm sorry. Hope everyone's ok." She smiled at them.

Millicent had eaten her food quietly, simply listening to everyone else's chatter. The sudden bumps had nearly knocked her out of her seat, but she managed to grip something to keep her balance each time. Cid might be a legendary hero, but it doesn't seem like he's the perfect pilot a lot of people make him out to be... Millicent noted. I suppose that not everyone lives up to the lofty expectations of their legends, after all. Not even Cid.

Once the ship had landed, she followed the rest of the students outside. Some of the other students were clearly excited by the idea of this test, and even Millicent found herself feeling a bit anxious. Why do I keep getting worried like this? I'll do fine, and I'm sure my teammates will do their best as well. She then remembered that the results of the test barely mattered to her. Maybe I've just been spending too much time here...She suppressed a smile at the thought. It had been a while since she'd felt comfortable with any group larger than the one consisting of herself and her partner.

Willow disembarked off the ship after landing, awaiting further instructions, but Johnny lingered on the airship.Something was definitely up.

For being a "legendary pilot", Cid had messed up a bit on the way there, not to mention whatever had happened to Laz.Johnny wasn't convinced everything was as hunky-dory as everyone else thought. He was going to get to the bottom of this.Johnny tapped on his pouch when no one was looking, and a fairy flew out."What's up, John?" the tiny fairy said."I want you to investigate the ship, see what's going on," Johnny said. "You felt those shakes and bumps as much as I did. I want to know if it's something with the ship or something else entirely."The tiny fairy saluted him, "Aye, aye, sir!" With that, the fairy darted off into the ship.

Anton was petting and focusing on the white Chocobo, so he didn't notice at all that Solisa blushed. He assumed she had no idea about the answer. "So you don't know either. Oh well...guess I'll have to ask Cid when I get the chance."

Anton ordered a small steak, eating it slowly and respectfully, an habit he got from his family.

In both of the times when the ship started to lurch, Anton cast aero on himself to regain balance, making it weak at purpose in order to prevent the spell from harming him and the others.

He was alerted at first, but was carefree after Solisa's reaction. "I suppose that's the reason I never heard about his skills as a pilot..."

When Ms. Genka welcomed the class to the site, Anton smiled. "Finally." Anton followed  Ms. Genka.

Elsa told Aaron that she would rather stay up on the upper deck than go eat near that prissy face Sara. So when he left, she just sighed. "I wish i was back with my family... I wish my daughter was with me..." She muttered to herself, her hands clenching into fists again. Then she started to feel the sudden bumps and held onto the railing as best as she could. Elsa tried her best not to scream, but she let out a few as the bumps got a bit worse. Her Gaster Blaster friend Ricky also held onto the railing, though he stayed absolutely calm. What's going on?! I thought he said that this ship was working fine!, she thought, feeling rather angry that she almost could have died from falling off.

When they arrived at the exam site, she saw Ms. Genka and Cid take the students off the ship. She soon followed after them and pushed pass both, though she gave Ms. Genka a little more of a shove because she was still mad at her. Then Ricky soon followed after Elsa, flying straight past the two adults. So this where we are having the exams..., she thought as she stared in awe at the silver dome. They both walked toward it with the others, listening to every word that her teacher said.

Edited by KHUndertaleFan25

Kelon was walking towards the dome along with the others, still wondering what happened earlier, realizing that the shakes were probably not normal. He had a feeling that it was the start of their troubles. He kept his sight on the dome, as he folded his arms. He had time to figure out the rest later, as he needed to focus on the task at hand right now. The exam was his top priority, and an opportunity to find out if anything was wrong, and he didn't care if he failed, as long as he does his part, it'll be worth it.

Laz caught her missing daggers that Ms. Genka returned.  Well, it solves that problem.  However, she was still certain that something had happened, but with no proof, she had no choice but to put that thought on hold.  I'll figure it out later.  For now, the Anthros followed the rest towards the shining dome, with her previous excitement returning.

"Shall we begin?"

Ms. Genka and the classmates then walked in the large dome. Solisa looked around, amazed by the immense space inside. Bright lights were shining from the ceiling down on to the hard metallic ground. Everyone's feet made a 'clank' sound every time they made a step on the floor. Ahead were two large pillars with a door on each one. Both pillars were facing each other from at least 7 feet away. (I think. xD)

"So what's all this about?" Sara said. Ms. Genka then stopped and turned around, facing the classroom while standing in the middle of the two pillars.

"This is where your Combat Exam will start. See these doors?" Ms. Genka pointed to the one on the left with her staff, then the other on the right the same way.

"Both teams will enter these doors at the same time. Team 1 will go in the right door and Team 2 will enter the left door. Each door leads to a dungeon with rooms that is designed to challenge your strength, speed, intellect, and cooperation. Of course, you will be judged on those subjects and it will affect your score. You can use your magic, weapons, or anything you need to use or desire to use in these challenges. Now these dungeons are completely different from each other, so it would be pointless to inform the other team if any of you were planning to. These dungeons will contain different monsters, so be prepared.

Now then...Let's begin." Ms. Genka then raised her staff, and the doors opened by themselves. "I wish you all good luck going into the exams. Do your best."

Solisa and Sara made a quick glare at each other. They both nodded and looked back at their team.

Solisa grinned and gave a thumbs up. "Let's give it all we've got, 'kay? We got this in the bag." She said.

Sara looked at her team with a stern expression, then smirked and closed her eyes. "Just stay outta my way, ya'll hear?" She said.

Both girls then looked back at their respective doors, kneeled down a little like they were racing.

"LET'S GO!" The two of them dashed away at the same time in the doors, heading in.

The Combat Exams had finally begun.

Kelon looked onward towards his door sternly, with his arms folded, and walked towards it. He was still looking out for anything suspicious, and now he was about to keep an eye on everyone and everything. He needed to get passed this exam, with success or not, he needed to make sure that there was nothing sinister in-store. He wasn't going t blow his cover, so he was going to play along with the exam to make sure that nothing falls out. He walked through his team's door to get inside to prepare for the exam.

Elsa and her Gaster Blaster pet Ricky were amazed by how everything worked. Then when they saw Solisa and Sara run into the rooms, they both looked at each other. "Let's do this, Ricky!" Elsa said cheerfully. Ricky nodded, feeling happy that his owner was happy. She soon followed after Solisa and Kelon, Ricky following close behind.

The Combat Exams had finally begun.

Anton was relieved upon hearing how the exam will work. So this isn't going to be a combat between the two team? That's nice. Won't have to worry about critically injuring the other team...not to mention Sara and Solisa's rivalry. Although, the exam can still have a team battle at the final stage...

After Sara's remark, Anton talked to the rest of the group: "So what part of 'you will be judged based on cooperation as well' she didn't get?" He said it loud enough so Sara will hear it as well.

Afterwards, he walked through the left door, ready for the exam.

She followed her team as she gets her weapons ready. (hope we'll pass the exam.) she thought while looking around. Grace chucked quietly when Solisa and Sara ran, competing to each others. "When will they ever get along?" She whispered herself.

Electricity and excitement flowed through Aaron's body. This, proving himself, had been the moment he'd been waiting for. And the moments leading up to the fight were ever so nerve wracking.

He beamed with confidence straight ahead, dying to start.

Laz was quite impressed with the massive glowing dome.  Hm, I wonder if this place is made of orichalcum?  It looks like it...

Once everyone was fully inside, Ms. Genka explained what they'd be doing for the exams.  Ooh, traversing through a dungeon eh?  My specialty! the bluenette thought giddily, a beaming smile forming on her face, I hope there'll be treasure to get!  Super exciting!  And there'll be monsters to fight; double exciting!

She saw the two girls up in front glaring at each other before turning back to their teams.  "Let's give it all we've got, 'kay? We got this in the bag," Solisa told them and grinned, giving them a thumbs up.  Then, the black mage knelt down as if preparing for a race, and once the doors opened, she yelled, "LET'S GO!" and dashed inside.

Seeing that her teamates were getting their weapons - and summon - ready, Laz smirked as she started running and easily passed by Solisa.  "Hehe, sorry, but I've been running since I was teeny!" the Anthros laughed and explained after seeing Solisa's shocked expression.  She soon stopped though once she entered the first room, and let her companions catch up.  As her eye took in everything, the only word Laz could think of was, Wow...

Aaron, finally snapping out of his daze, noticed all of the others on his team dashed on ahead.

"Hey, wait up!" Aaron shouted, and ran up towards them through the unknown...

Edited by Clouded Sun

Willow casually ran after Sara and her other teammates, "Wait! What about teamwork? That's more important than a race!" Willow glanced around as she went forward, trying to judge the dungeon that now surrounded her.
"I sure hope I don't hit any traps..."

Tay flew back to Johnny, "I didn't see anything out of place."
"You sure?"
"Anything I could get into, yeah."
"Alright, that's all I can ask," Johnny said, and the tiny fairy flew back into the pouch.
Johnny then stood by Ms. Genka and began to talk, "It's a bit funny. Those two automatically just ran in, not a care in the world. Speed really isn't everything, I'm surprised they still haven't caught that."

The final exam is a journey through a dungeon? That's much more practical than what I'd imagined it would be... Our teams have a good balance of roles, so this should go well. Millicent thought to herself after Ms. Genka described the rules. Although, that depends on if everyone decides to cooperate... Of course, once the doors opened, Sara ran ahead all by herself. I guess that teamwork isn't valued by everyone if it's not a life-or-death situation. Millicent held back a sigh as she tried to catch up to her teammates. "Anton and Willow are both right. We should be trying to work as a team, not trying to see who can get through first. The test was set up with teams in mind, meaning that if we're going to get through this, we can't try to do everything on our own." She warned everyone, though the statement was really directed at Sara.

  • Author

Ms. Genka chuckled at Johnny's comment. "True. But their movements and expressions told me otherwise. Solisa expressed more excitement and anticipation than competition. Her will to adventure was just beaming from her grin." Ms. Genka straightened her glasses. "However, the same can't be said for Sara. She seems to want to stand out more, wanting to win at anything that seemed like a competitive sport, especially against Solisa." The teacher then turned around. "But of course, we can't judge them too soon." Ms. Genka began to walk forward in her direction. "Come on. We'll watch them from the Control room."

Team 1

The members of Team One entered the first dungeon shortly. The design looked to be a ruins-styled section with the walls looking rocky, small vines growing from the cracks, and the floors made of yellow stone. The stairs that led down to the floor has the same stone design  "Woah...This looks dope!" Solisa exclaimed as she looked around. With each step down, her head turned left and right with amazement. But once her foot touched the stone floor, the block went down and the room was pitch black. Total darkness. "Wh-What the!? Hang on ya'll!" A snap sound could be heard. A flame of light then shine in front of Solisa's face. Her hand was fully engulfed in orange flames. "Don't worry. It doesn't hurt my hand. I'm used to doin' this." She said. "Is everybody alright?"

Team 2

Sara had ran ahead from the others, although she heard what everyone else said about 'working together'. Great...This'll get annoying hella quick. She thought to herself.

The first room the second team entered looked to be outside. Two walls of grass looked to be an entrance of some type of maze. "Well, it's about time you got here!" She said while tapping her foot with her arms crossed. She stood in front of the entrance, waiting for everyone. "If we're gonna work together, you can't keep me waitin' ya know." She said.
