Final Fantasy XV's Delay Worries Me...

Posted

Hey everyone, how's it going!?  So then, as you undoubtedly all know, it seems that the delay rumors for Final Fantasy XV proved to be true, and we'll be getting the game on November instead of next month!  This is something that has the Final Fantasy fans like ourselves all riled up, but I do understand Tabata's reasoning for the delay!  He wants to ensure XV is the most perfect Final Fantasy to date, and to that end, I can understand his reasons for delaying the game.  And well, I am a Final Fantasy fan, but I can honestly wait to play the game, ya know?

However, what does worry me about this delay is Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue's state!  Since XV and 2.8 will be so close to each other, XV will most undoubtedly overshadow 2.8, and thus, the sales for said game shall diminish greatly, and that's something that worries me!  What also worries me is that we could see a delay for 2.8 as well, since it's so close to Final Fantasy XV, but I pray this isn't the case!

And what worries me even more is Kingdom Hearts III's status in all this!  I mean yes, I know that KHIII and FFXV are handled by different people, but with XV's delay, this means that the Tokyo Team that would be helping with KHIII's development would still be working on XV until November, and KHIII's progress would probably be a tad bit slow, ya know?  This really worries me, because I'm really hoping we get Kingdom Hearts III as the 15th Anniversary game of the series next year, ya know?

What about all of you?  Do you feel the same way I do, or are you worry-free?

I see no logical reason why it would. even if they were made by the same group, they aren't  scrapping anything, there just touching it up. which wouldnt involve the whole team, just a small portion of it, 5 people at most.

Your concerns are definitely valid. Honestly I'm just pissed because they had this giant ass amazing event just for the release date and they ended up delaying it which is just a massive fail. Luckily I'm patient with this game, but for hardcore FF fans I can only imagine the shit they're going through right now over this. That's just so stupid the fact they had an entire event just for the release date with a button and confetti and everything.

Square made a huge mistake moving the game to November 29th. Sep 30th was an empty week for AAA titles and now XV has to compete with Pokemon Sun+Moon, Dishonored 2, COD Infinite Warfare, KH2.8, and Battlefield 1. On top of all that, its after black friday. All because they wanted to appease the very small minority of gamers without an internet connection.

all the waiting has numbed me to the pain of more waiting so i'm indifferent towards it. although honestly i wasn't too invested in FFXV so i guess i'm lucky.

i never really expected 2.8 to sell well to begin with so i guess this could just be the final nail in the coffin for it.

The game would have never ran at constant 30 fps by next month. Tabata is a great guy though and leagues ahead of Nomura in terms of caring about his fans. Knowing him he'll make it up to people with another demo or something.

Give the guy a break, he's working on a potential classic xD. And yeah 2.8 will get pushed back by a few weeks more than likely. No big deal though to me since I'm not buying it day one anyway.

Well I do believe that it will be troublesome for 2.8 sales now that Final Fantasy XV is going to be released closed to it I don't think that it will effect the sales that much.  And as long as they don't give a release date to Kingdom Hearts 3 you can't delay it, unless the announcement we will get in December is a release date that could change now it could be a here is the date we will give a release date, kind of similar to Undercover, even though that whole event is kind of worthless now because what people where hoping for was the release date from it and they got added stuff so I don't know if they will do something like that as well with Kingdom Harts 3

They were very confident with the release, they should plan better next time.

And yeah, that epic event just lost its true meaning

Now I won't have it

for my birthday =(

Well, at least that eases my mind a bit more.  But well, ya know, XV is an important game for Square, and as such, that game is a priority, which is why its delay worries me when it comes to where Kingdom Hearts stands in all this! D:

Yeah, I feel really bad for all those fans who waited for so long!  Honestly, I want to play this game, but I haven't been following its development closely, so the wait has felt like nothing to me, ya know?  I can wait a bit more for the game, since I'll probably play it a few months after it releases, ya know?  What worries me is what will happen to Kingdom Hearts because of XV's delay! :

Wow, those are a lot of games to compete with!  Yeah, November's always the month where the major gaming companies throw down their top contenders, so it's going to be interesting to see how XV fares with its competition, ya know?

I really hope that isn't the case!  I really want 2.8 to succeed, because I'm pretty sure much work and thought has been put into the game, and I want as many people to be able to play it as possible, ya know?  I know I'll certainly play it, but I just hope 2.8 doesn't get delayed or anything! D:

XV is going to overshadow 2.8 regardless. It's a brand new game whereas 2.8 is a remake, a beefed up demo, and a movie. Not hating on 2.8 but it has a lot less selling points then FF XV. With that out of the way, I don't think we need to be too worried about 2.8 being delayed, let alone KH3( a title we know nothing about).

Well, yeah, I know...but like I said to Dustin, XV is an important game for Square, and since that game is a priority for them, I'm afraid they'll leave KH on the sidelines! I really hope this isn't the case! :

Yeah, I understand Tabata's reasoning for the delay, and I think it's great he wants to polish up the game, because it shows just how devoted he is to the project! But well, hopefully, 2.8 won't be too affected, ya know? :)

Well, one can only watch and wait for what happens.  Hopefully, we'll get good news in December when it comes to Kingdom Hearts III!  And I hope 2.8 doesn't drown in retail shelves and manages to sell well!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they feel bad about Uncovered as well, since it all turned out to be for naught!  But well, we'll just have to see what happens!

Let's hope there isn't a worst case scenario for us KH fans! X_X

Don't be. Just look at the recent vid they put out for it:

If that doesn't make it worth the wait, I don't know what will.

Yeah, the game definitely looks gorgeous, and I'm more than happy that Tabata and his team have dedicated so much of their lives to making this game as perfect as possible!  As I said, I don't mind the game being delayed, what only worries me is what will happen to KH in the holidays, with 2.8 being close to release after XV! :)

And that's the highly compressed version. SE put a download link to the video on the games official press page and it's over 8 Gigabytes!

As for 2.8, people can afford two games a year and it's a pretty niche title, all things considered. Companies do this all the time.

Oh wow, 8 Gigs for just a video!?  DAMMMNNN!!!! :O

And well, that is true!  Let's just hope 2.8 is met with success! :)

Well, you know, not all of Tokyo Team is working on KH3. Nomura himself stated that only a small percentage of the team is actually working on the game at this point which means that there's no reason that KH3 should be slowed down at all.

People are upset over the delay because of the Uncovered event, but really there's no reason to be angry. At the time of the event, Tabata and his team were under the impression that they'd be able to release the game in September and have it as polished as possible by then. But, obviously, after the event they started noticing some issues and optimizing that would be required if they wanted the game in a perfect state.

"But wait, Tabata himself said he could include this in a Day One Patch, didn't he? There's no reason they should have delayed it!" Sure, maybe for you since you have Internet, but there are some people who don't have Internet or might not have Internet at the time of the game's acquirement. I think I speak for everyone when I say we'd rather insert the disc and play rather than wait for a patch to install, or even worse, not get the patch at all due to the lack of Internet. We assume the majority of customers will have a connection, but really we don't know Square Enix's demographics. Only they do from the information they gather via surveys, consumer research, etc.

Tabata is human too, and humans make mistakes. I think it's perfectly fine to accept his apology and wait another two months (everyone claims they've been waiting 10 years, so you'd think 2 months would be a pretty easy wait lol) for the completely polished game to come out. Not only that, the game comes out nearer to the holidays giving people more time or opportunity to receive the game closer to its release and play it during their designated vacations (if they have one, of course).

As for 2.8, there's no reason Square Enix would delay it. It's clearly not a flagship game for the year and I doubt they're expecting it to sell as well as FFXV anyway, so they probably aren't even worrying about it. They've already garnered attention from its demos at multiple conventions and the trailer released on YouTube, and no further amount of promotional content (not including events like Tokyo Game Show, of course) for the game would be worth it to Square Enix. FFXV will sell well for them as it is, so even if 2.8 doesn't sell as well as expected, it'd be no problem for them.

In short: worrying is a waste of time for this situation. :P

Well, when you put it that way, then there's actually nothing to worry about regarding this situation!  And well, I'm glad Tabata's thinking about all the fans, not just the ones with an internet connection, ya know?

And well, let's just hope everything goes for the best, ya know?  One thing's for sure!  Square's gonna have a mighty fine Christmas this year! :D
