Nomura clarifies the status of "Frozen" in Kingdom Hearts III, discusses working with Disney

Within several interviews with co-director of the Kingdom Hearts series, Tai Yasue, there have been strong hints that he would like to see a world in Kingdom Hearts III based around the successful Disney film, Frozen, leading to speculation that it was all but confirmed.
 
The recent interview with Tetsuya Nomura in Famitsu Weekly, however, debunks the notion that world selection is set in stone just yet.

 
It's worth noting that, when asked, Nomura admitted that he did enjoy Frozen and also looks forward to Disney's next feature film, Big Hero 6. In addition, the interview revealed that, in spite of no longer feeling truly limited to being "Disney-like" and moving the series into more original territory, there is still a deep appreciation for the Disney content of the games and the inspiration that they provide.

 
He also mentions that he is excited by the appointment of John Lasseter (director of Toy Story and Cars), has been appointed as chief creative officer at Disney.

Nomura is investigating developments to allow more people to experience Kingdom Hearts χ[chi]

Tetsuya Nomura has revealed, in the September 25, 2014 issue of Famitsu Weekly (which contained an in-depth interview with the Kingdom Hearts series director), that he is investigating ways to allow more people to experience Kingdom Hearts χ[chi]. Currently, Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] is a Japanese-only title, and only for PC web browsers.
 
However, with it recently being confirmed that the stories of Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] and Kingdom Hearts III are heavily tied together, it makes sense that Square Enix would like to expand the audience of the game. Nomura also confirmed that the Kingdom Hearts Re:coded HD Cinematic Story Videos in Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX would contain an addition based on Kingdom Hearts χ[chi]'s "Tome of Prophecy", and that the Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] story would be continued between the release of HD 2.5 ReMIX and Kingdom Hearts III.
 
It is currently unknown specifically what Nomura is referring to, so leave a comment below with your thoughts! Do you think Nomura could be planning to release the game in English, or do you think that they might be considering porting the game to other consoles or platforms?

As you would know, with Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX containing Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX containing Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded, Kingdom Hearts 3D is left as the only major game in the series without a HD remaster. Famitsu have announced that following on from the September 25, 2014 issue of Famitsu Weekly, which contained an in-depth interview with the Kingdom Hearts series director Tetsuya Nomura, Kingdom Hearts will again appear in next week's issue of the magazine, releasing on October 2, 2014.

Square Enix has announced the Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 & 2.5 ReMIX Original Soundtrack Box via an official website for the product, a collection containing both of the recently announced HD soundtracks, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX Original Soundtrack and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX Original Soundtrack. Like the individual soundtracks, the collection will release on November 26, 2014.

Kingdom Hearts Keyblade Keychains revealed

Square Enix Japan's Merchandise Manager, Hidemi Matsuzuka has posted photos of Kingdom Hearts II themed Keyblade Keychains on their official Facebook page. The Keyblades they're based off include Sleeping Lion, Ultima Weapon and Fenrir. Once Square Enix announces a release date for these keychains we will let you know. Update 2: Square Enix have announced a November 22, 2014 release date for the keychains on their e-STORE. They will cost ¥1,960 (tax included) (roughly $17.89 US). They're available for pre-order on the following pages:

New cards, missions, avatars and a boss added to Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] following September 25 maintenance

A 4 hour maintenance for Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] has just finished and along with it, new cards, missions, avatars and events have been added to the game. 2 new Raise Draw cards are available, alongside new avatars featuring Neku and Shiki from The World Ends With You and a new Key Scene #20 card are now available as a part of the KINGDOM box of October, now available for purchase. A new Raid Boss called Trick Master and subspecies has appeared. Also, a ultimate SR+ Sora card is shown, as well as a new story has been added to the Coliseum and the Mog Trade has been updated. New gift missions, raid missions and field punitive missions have also been added to the game.

Tetsuya Nomura to attend New York Comic Con 2014

Director of the Kingdom Hearts series, Tetsuya Nomura has revealed in the latest issue of Famitsu Weekly that he will be attending New York Comic Con 2014. Nomura attended San Diego Comic-Con 2014 earlier this year to sign autographs, and it's likely that he's doing the same at New York Comic Con. Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX, which releases on December 2, 2014 in North America, will also likely have a playable demo and trailer. New York Comic Con takes place on October 9-12, 2014 at the Javits Center, New York City. More details about the event can be found at it's official website. Thanks go to @sqexgal for the tip.
 
Update: Square Enix have confirmed Tetsuya Nomura will be holding autograph sessions at the Square Enix Merchandise Booth. The sessions will be held on Friday, October 10th, 2014 and Saturday, October 11th, 2014. Like at San Diego Comic-Con 2014, those who purchase qualifying Play Arts -Kai- figures at the Square Enix Booth (#1813) can receive tickets to attend the autograph session on the ticket. Tetsuya Nomura will be at the booth signing exclusive art cards.

Amazon.co.jp have released seven sample pages for the official upcoming Ultimania companion book for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX, titled Kingdom Hearts Series Memorial Ultimania that will release in Japan on October 2, 2014.
