What they’re saying is that you’ll be able to use the PS4 recording feature in blocked areas/scenes. Meaning you’ll be able to record/stream during the Days, Re:Coded, and Back Cover movies, and towards the end of KH 0.2.

So does this mean that the opening song of Kingdom Hearts 2 and 358 Days will no longer get blocked on YouTube?

They need to focus on the real issue and release the JP audio for overseas fans.

I never understood the need to block them anyway... Those who want to record footage can do so without that function and bypass the restriction, so those scenes are not a secret and does not prevent them from being shown.

Must be some strange contractual stuff again like with the music in games. But it's good that this was lifted now.

No, it seems like they're saying they're removing the blocked scenes for the movies and the latter part of 0.2.

No, that'll probably still get blocked.  IIRC, the rights for the songs are owned by Universal, not Square Enix.

Oh.  I had no idea this was going on with the PS4.

It wasn't fully Square Enix that wanted them blocked, it's Disney's. The cutscenes were SE, but Disney didn't want the movies to be able being shared.

No. That's copyrighted by UMG, not Square Enix.

Not the subject in question, no. But there ARE free expansions that add a new cutscenes to 358/2, and a cinematic adaptation of KH1.
