  1. So getting that FE:if bundle! Exactly what I wanted. But y u no talk 'bout Bravely Second. >_
  2. RBY announced for eShop. They actually implemented wireless trading. Holy crap. O_O Oh yeah, Poken Fighters covered as well. And Super Mystery Dungeon. Of course, the true highlight was Pokemon Picross. Free to start guys! /shot
  3. Competetive. Cooperative is okay if its like a team-deathmatch style where you don't really need to work together, you just need everyone to be somewhat competent. Anything that requires actual planning and cooperation with others (Monster Hunter, MMOs), no thanks. I don't really have the desire to work with people when playing a video game, and it is just kinda boring, IMO. I must say that, overall, I don't really do much multiplayer outside of Mario Kart and Smash Bros. Most of what I play are RPGs.
  4. What I want to see: Fire Emblem Fates (special 2 in 1 edition or special new 3DS system... or both would be awesome) Genei Ibun Roku #FE (please let the localized name be easier to remember) Bravely Second localization info What I would like to see: New Mario Kart 8 DLC Smash Character announcement Amiibo restocks (I want Robin gosh dangit) Yeah, just any of the above would be great. ^_^
  5. Aww, you guys are great! Honestly, I wouldn't have ever wanted to be a part of the staff if I didn't love this place and the people in it. ^_^
  6. Thanks. They called me back today, and my laptop has been fixed (I'll be picking it up tomorrow). I told them to go ahead and send in the broken hard drive to see if the data could be recovered, after the technician I was talking assured me that the possibilities of success were very good. At this point, it was either regret the data loss, or regret the money spent. In the long run, I think the loss of my files would have cause much more regret than the loss of the money. At least this happened at a time when I had a lot of disposable income, a few years before or from now and I probably wouldn't have been able to afford it. Thanks to everyone whose responded. While I'm still pretty upset that this happened, and that I didn't have back ups of the files that are so important, I feel better about it. I'll keep you all posted on what happens. I'll know in about a week if they data recovery was successful or not.
  7. I'll vote on them fairly often. Sometimes, if the question doesn't apply to me, I won't answer.
  8. Your currency is a bit stronger, so 700€ ends up being more than $700, but it is still a very large amount. Could buy a decent laptop with that much money. I thought I was in the same situation as you, having an older version on an external device. But I searched through every single jump drive we own, and its not there. I would have just accepted the lost data if I at least had some version of it, but nope. Honestly, I don't really know if these files are worth the price. I mean, I never thought I would have to put a price tag on them. I do have enough to pay right now. Since my job is part time, it will be four paychecks (one every two weeks), before I've regained all the money. .... *sigh* I definitely need to think about it more. I know that know one can truly give me a definitive answer on what I should do, but I thought hearing other people's inputs would be helpful nonetheless. I feel like such an idiot, I know very well that I should've backed up my files, but I just didn't. Now, either way, I'll pay the price.
  9. I admit... I came here prepared to remove this.
  10. Thanks guys. Right now I'm leaning towards paying the money. They said they'll give me the broken drive back if I decide not to, but I'm afraid that just letting it sit might make it less likely to be recoverable (don't know if that's something that can actually happen, but...). I'm trying to remain hopeful about this, but honestly it has already reached nightmare level. The last option I have is basically the ultimate desperation choice. If this fails, it's all over. If the discs have been damaged (which is a possibility whenever a failed hard drive makes clicking sounds) it's all over. It sounds like there's a very good chance this will work, but with how everything's gone so far it's hard to find hope... Oh, I'm already on top of that. The day I took the laptop in to the professional, I also bought a 3TB external hard drive. It was on sale, so it cost $100. It's enough space for both my brother and I to store backups on it. I'm also going to have a jump drive where I save important documents (like the writings I talked about in the opening). Data recovery aside, it's only about $100 for them to install a new hard drive in my laptop. So I'll just do that for now. If I do try to have them rescue my data, then a new laptop won't be in the cards for awhile. But now that I'm going to be paranoid about this stuff for the rest of my life, I won't have to worry about this situation from happening again.
  11. EDIT: see post 12 for final update. Recently, with absolutely no hint prior (that I picked up on, at least), my laptop's hard drive failed. Just happened two days ago. At 8 in the morning it was working fine. At noon, nothing. Just a laptop that couldn't boot and a hard drive making a sickening click sound. Took it to my college's tech support center (also where I work). No good. Took it to a professional. Their opinion? It has catastrophically, mechanically failed. The thing was just barely 3 years old, and I've always taken good care of it. My laptop has been dropped maybe twice since I've had it, both times it was a dog knocking off where I had set it. Neither of those occurrences were recent. The only hope I have to recover the data is sending it in to a company that specializes in recovering data from hard drives. This will cost $700. The professional that I talked to told me that he had seen hard drives that had been run over by cars be recovered, so mine (having been decently taken care of) has a pretty good chance of being recoverable. But the possibility of failure still exists. Most, if not all, of the money will be refunded if data recovery is impossible. I wouldn't even consider paying that much, but... All of my writings that I've done over the course of two and half years were on there. They are a diary of sorts. I thought I had them backed up, I did. But I've gone through every flash drive I own, and its not there. Thinking it's all gone makes me sick. I poured so much of who I was, of what I've felt into that. I had meant it to be something I would keep for years to come. There's some other data on there that I still want as well, but it pales in comparison. I can pay the price, but it's just so much. I feel short of breath just thinking about it. Any thoughts on what I should do?
  12. Just sounds like your device/the game glitched for a second. Probably just a one time thing. If it happens consistently, then there's probably something wrong with your download of the game. If it happens in other games, probably something wrong with your phone. Don't know how you would fix it, though.
  13. Hmm, wow, people don't know doge? I thought it was super well known due to its popularity. Here's an example of a doge meme: I've personally always liked doge. Not so much because I think its funny, but because I think the dog is cute. Anyway, I actually like it when localizations add reference and stuff. Not like they completely changed the meaning of what was being said, just put it a more entertaining way.
  14. Hmm... It's pretty good, but definitely not for everyone. There are many scenes where characters (men and women) are wearing little in the way of clothes. No outright nudity, but close to it as you can get. The story line is crazy, but it has interesting ideas (clothing and lack thereof are actually used symbolically in a pretty clever way). Awesome actions scenes, super intense. Firaga Sensei has a good review of it here: http://kh13.com/forum/topic/86376-review-kill-la-kill/
  15. I mean, I don't really see anything out of the ordinary in regards to Aqua. In the KH fanbase specifically it might seem weird, but I'd chalk that up to the fact that the series has an enormous yaoi shipping crowd, and that there are very few female characters. In context of all fanbases, though, I don't think this situation is anything special. There's always large groups of people that get obsessed with attractive female characters, in pretty much every game I've seen. Take Cynthia from Pokemon, for example. As for the fan art... people just make messed up stuff. Plus, keep in mind the rules of the internet (*coughrulecoughthirtyfourcough*).
  16. Kill la Kill reference. Lol, Delphox=Ryoko, Chesnaught=Mako, and Greninja=Nudist Beach Teacher guy.
  17. I like most of the songs in the movie, but I do love a good villain song. And I love Oogie Boogie's voice, so... Yeah, Oogie Boogie's song is my favorite. This is Halloween a close second.
  18. *sigh* Has been a long week indeed.
  19. Some of the features do sound nice, but not worth $10 a month. Heck, with how much I use Youtube (not very), I wouldn't pay $10 a year. Plus, This.
  20. [img=picture url here] You can also right click on the image and just paste it into the comment. If you have trouble right clicking to paste on KH13 (I think that's a problem some people have, I don't know what causes it), press the Ctrl and V keys at the same time. That will paste it where your cursor is at in the comment. For example, I've just copied and pasted the picture here: The problem you might be having with the image tags is that the url you have leads to the imgur page with the image, not the actual image. Right click on the picture and select "View Image" (or something similar, depends on the browser) which will take you to a page with just the image. Copy that URL. For this image: http://i.imgur.com/YnwuI3V.gif and with image tags that becomes As you can see, that URL works with the image tags.
  21. I'm more upset by the fact that they've reused the Xillia graphics engine 4 times now (Xillia, Xillia 2, Zestiria, Berseria), when it's really not that impressive. The character models are good, but the colors are all muted and the environments aren't too exciting. Oh, and that they've been gutting content that was normally in the older games to sell it as overpriced DLC. Don't know if Zestiria is improved in this regard, but Xillia had like 4 costumes to unlock in game. Abyss had at least 4 per character. (Abyss spoilers) Vesperia had even more. Graces battle system wasn't my favorite, but I don't dislike it as much as you do. I can accept the series having two styles of combat, though I agree that I don't want the more traditional style to go away.
  22. I didn't like the attack, so I never bothered. I was able to beat everything but Julius.
  23. Well tonight I went to my school's Homecoming dance... rave... thing. I wasn't going to go, but two people I met this week convinced me to go. I was uncomfortable at first, but I ended up having an okay time. It wasn't super fun, but probably the most fun I've had with people that I barely know. I'm glad I went, at any rate. Was funny, there were people dressed up super fancy, and there were people like me, just wearing jeans. Saw someone I knew from high school as well. She graduated a year before me. She's dating one of my coworkers. Was actually kinda funny, she introduced us to each other, so he comes up to shake my hand and says "Hi there, I'm you're boss." Then we both just turn and smile at her. (Maybe that's not that funny if you weren't there, I dunno. I enjoyed it at least.)
  24. ^^There's basically two types of feminists. Those that actually do want equal rights for everyone and believe that men and women are equal, and those who pretty much just hate men and will make any BS excuse to put men down or play the victim. The second group is, in a bitter stroke of irony, just as bad as what they claim to be fighting against. Unfortunately, the internet, among other things, has let the second group do lots of damage to the public image of the first. EDIT: I do agree with the argument against the "you shouldn't hit a woman", though. You shouldn't hit anyone unless its to defend yourself. But if you need to defend yourself, do so. It doesn't matter if they're a man, woman, whatever. If you're threatening me and I feel unsafe, I'm going to hit you as hard as I can, whatever the heck your age, gender, or race is.
