There's a difference between offending and provoking. That being said, the majority of muslims condemns the act of a few insane individuals who hijack religion to push their ideas unto other people. Just like Christianity has mortal sins, so do we. The first one is murder. So yeah. Other than that, nothing unites like a common enemy...

Also, to teach compassion. We get to eat/drink again after sundown. 2/3 of the world is not that lucky. So it's a time for reflection, gratitude, self-discipline and compassion.
