During the D23 Expo 2017 in Anaheim, California, Kingdom Hearts III was given an official release year of 2018, via a new trailer shown at the event. This follows last month’s Kingdom Hearts III Orchestra Trailer and the recent reveal at D23 of a trailer and of the new Toy Story world officially confirmed to be playable in Kingdom Hearts III. After the game was announced at Sony’s E3 2013 Press Conference, fans have been waiting for a release date and now we can mark our calendars and wait a bit longer! At today’s Level Up! The Walt Disney Company’s Video Game Showcase at D23 Expo 2017, Square Enix has showcased a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts III giving us us a first look at a brand new world set in the Toy Story movie through a trailer. The Toy Story world has been showcased for the first time and is now confirmed to appear in Kingdom Hearts III, which is an exciting addition to the Tangled and Big Hero 6 worlds that have been confirmed previously. After the trailer was shown, Pixar Animation Studio story supervisor Jason Katz and Pixar Animation Studios associate creative director Tasha Sounart came onstage to discuss the new Toy Story world. Tasha Sounart helped work on the Toy Story world with the art style, creative direction, and animation. She said one of her favorite things to work on was to help design the toy versions of Sora, Donald, and Goofy, as well as the Toy Story Keyblade. They also confirmed that the Toy Story world will have a brand new story, never before seen in any of the movies, just like the Big Hero 6 world. To close it off, Nomura said there's more announcements coming and expressed his gratitude. Mascots of toy soldiers from the Toy Story film also came on stage and performed an act. Yeah, the first few minutes were dull, I agree, and I'm a Horizon guy, not a Motorsport guy, so I wasn't really interested in the game. From then on, they showed Metro and my jaw dropped lol.

I care about games, and Xbox showed a lot of them that I like, that is not being a tool, it is being a fanboy. And let me tell you, I'm not a Microsoft fanboy, I'm a games fanboy, and this year Microsoft has won my heart with what they showed. I'm very pumped for the following press conferences.

Kingdom Hearts series' director Tetsuya Nomura was interviewed by Famitsu at the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra - World Tour - concert in Los Angeles. In it, he discusses the concert, the latest trailer for Kingdom Hearts III, and the new patch that will be available for Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX. The interview seems to confirm a new Theatre Mode made available for Kingdom Hearts Final Mix and new cutscenes for Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days with the latest patch. During the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra - World Tour -, a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts III was shown. At the end of it, a message was shown confirming that on July 15th, at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, a new world and a new trailer would be shown for the game.
