Ventus is actually a big reason that Sora first received the keyblade when it refused Riku, but it still came unto his own. The light in Sora's heart proved strong enough to help him reclaim it when Riku stole it from him in Hollow Bastion

Ventus is actually the only reason Sora can duel-wield keyblades, so if he wakes up, no more dual-wielding for Sora! but watch he'll prolly say "my friends are my power" again at some point
