Actually, Dragon Quest is from the Enix side of the company. It's also just as big, if not bigger, than Final Fantasy out in Japan. Final Fantasy actually took inspiration from the Dragon Quest games, since Dragon Quest was pretty much the grandfather of JRPGs. Just throwing that out there. That aside, I agree with you.

FF did save SquareSoft, although DQ was also important for making the JRPG formula popular. DQ is pretty overlooked outside Japan, though. I kinda wish it would get equal attention alongside FF, considering how incredibly important both were in the history of RPGs.
