I'd the say the gameplay is it's strong suit in the later part as the beginning is only difficult due to the lack of demons to recruit and fuse, as for the plot it's kinda slow going point to point, just stick with it as it pays off

Definitely play more into it, however the persona series is what people are aware of so i'm sure it will catch on eventually hopefully
