My first KH game was the original Chain of Memories for the GBA. Technically it wasn't mine though, it was my sisters copy; thus I was only allowed to play it when she let me. I was never able to finish it on her copy before she got rid of it, only getting about to where Axel frees Namine. My first impressions then were really positive. I actually really liked the gameplay because of how different it was from anything I had tried to that point. I didn't know it was a sequel, so I was constantly trying and theorizing what was going on and who these people were. I thought it all was a great mystery to try and figure out just what the heck had gone on in the games past and what was going on now. I didn't know anything about what was going on, and that made things really awesome when I was a kid. It was the first time I REALLY started to think of a game or story analytically, which led to some crazy theories back then! But this game made me realize at the time that the fun of playing a game or reading a story didn't stop at the surface of what the game presented. The real fun for me now is actually analyzing, theorizing and trying to figure things out in the created world. Looking at it now, I find it funny that I never saw it as a dark game. Now when I play CoM, I get the tragedy and the sadness of it all. When I was a kid, I seemed to not have noticed. I remember for some reason at the time thinking incorrectly that 1, Vexen was a girl, and 2, that he was in charge of everyone else. I don't know why I thought this, but it made those moments when he was being threatened by Marluxia and then killed by Axel all the more dramatic and tense. You can also imagine my shock when I played Re:CoM and found out both these things to be false. More so about him not being a girl though, that genuinely shocked me for some reason....I remember pausing the game at the time and looking it up online just to be extra sure HAHAHAH :lol: :lol: :lol:!!! I thought the introduction of Disney characters was novel and really unique. I had never watched the nightmare before Christmas so I actually thought the plot in the game was what the movies plot was like. Again, rude awakening when I actually saw it but what ever. This game was also the first time I had ever encountered a cuss word in a game. I was young at the time and remember thinking, 'OMG DID HE JUST SAY THAT??!!??' I also remember trying to rationalize it like thinking, 'Maybe he didn't mean it' or something cause I was still at the point where I thought anyone who cussed had a terrible character. And I remember really liking Axel in this game (again, me not realizing how dark it was.) and not wanting my fav character to be bad. He is also the reason I'm really into KH at all. I stopped following KH after that game for a few years, and didn't even remember the title. But Axe was so memorable in my mind that years later, I would find myself bored, watching my sister and her friend playing KH2 and seeing a familiar red head clapping and introducing himself to Roxas. I remember jumping and saying, 'Its HIM! Its that guy, what is he doing here?! What is going on?!? Can I play?' And the rest of my obsession is history. Its actually ironic, because the first line that got me really back into KH was Axel saying, 'Don't you remember? Its me, you know, Axel.' To this day I still cant believe how perfect that reintroduction to this series was. What about you guys? Don't be afraid to give long answers, I really wanna read about other peoples exps and how you felt getting your first taste of this series.

Ive never thought of the story of coming to lets destroy all the darkness, but lets stop these people who are using it to harm others. In KH2, Riku even says something like this to Xemnas. That the dark isn't bad, its just the monsters and evil people inside it, and those who use the darkness in bad ways. I always thought that line was meant to drive that point in. And to tell us that that was the real reason they were going to destroy these seekers of darkness. Not because they wielded darkness, but because they aimed to hurt others with it.

Of all the characters, who is it to you? I personally think its Roxas. He lived only long enough to become his own person, make friends and memories, then be forced to disappear. I do think that given enough time, he would've followed Xion and gone back willingly, but the fact that he was not only forced to, but also intended to not be told makes me tear up a bit. I hated that DiZ thought a blissful dream would make up for it. Could you imagine how scary a death that would've been? To think you were an ordinary boy, then be taken away and forced to what in your mind equated to die for no reason that you knew. I think if he had been told from the start that he wouldn't disappear but be whole, and given time he would've accepted and come to sora willingly. And to think that the only reason this didn't happen is because of DiZs impatience and hatred for nobodies and his apprentices made me hate him quite a bit. When he apologized to Roxas in KH2, I actually got a bit teary eyed. I flat out cried first time Roxas disappeared, and hated Sora for a bit of the first part of the game because I didn't really understand all the story yet and thought it was selfish to sacrifice Roxas to wake up. I don't think Sora would've wanted this either, do you? Wanted a life to end so he could keep living? It doesn't seem like Sora to do that. But that's just me, who is it for you?

Originally? I think it was back in 2009 or 2010. That was back before I sorta got locked out of my account, when I was just 'Fates Chance'.

The theme of too much light is just as bad as too much dark is touched on with Eraqus. He was so blinded by the light and the shunning of darkness that he raised his blade against an innocent like Ven who was a being of only light. Ven had no control over what happened to him and rather than work to find a way to preserve Vens life, Eraqus attacked him straight out for having even the potential of being a weapon. His hatred of the darkness, his unwavering love of the light blinded him into doing something even he regretted. Its funny, I actually think Master Xehanort said it best. Light and darkness exist in a balance, and that darkness cannot be destroyed only channeled. And he and Riku are perfect examples of different ways of channeling darkness. One chose to let it control him, accepted it and channeled it into power and obsession. The other, channeled it to become a weapon to use alongside the light, not succumbing to it, but not rejecting it either. Aware of it, in control of it, and seeking to use it when necessary. That balance however is so fragile, its not a huge surprise that so many are tempted and succumb to the power of darkness and allow it to consume and control them. I think at somepoint in the KH history, people began to associate Darkness with evil because of those who succumbed. Like Riku said in KH 2: Xemnas asked why they were afraid of the dark, Riku replied, "Because of who's lurking inside it." Its not the Dark that is bad, just whats waiting to hurt us inside it. I guess people- rather than trying for that perfect balance- decided it was better and easier to just reject it out right; which wasn't the answer either.Think back when you were little, and you were afraid of the dark. Ask your self, was it really the dark itself you were afraid of? Or was it what you thought lurked inside it. Light and dark are neutral forces, its how we use them that decides the meaning of good and evil.

If we see them, I think they will probably not be focused on much. I am expecting maybe we could get a cameo or they meet them briefly and at most they have a few lines, but I doubt they will be anywhere near as visible and a part of the story like say Even, Ienzo, Dilan, Aelous, Braig, Isa and Axel. If the other members do appear, I am more curious WHERE sora and co would run across them... What worlds would they be from? Will they be from new worlds, or old ones, or perhaps they haven't yet formed back into full people yet... What I would find hilarious though is if like, SE worked them into the next final fantasy game or something some how. I could just imagine someone who looks like Larxene being a supporting character and occasionly making subtle references to Kingdom Hearts!! Maybe talk about how the main character annoys her just like some OTHER boy she once fought against LOL!! How great would that be!!!

Ok, I recently have been shopping around for an Org. 13 cosplay coat and while doing so I have noticed that a lot of people make them out of like a leather material. Seeing this I began to wonder, why leather? I cant remember if it was stated anywhere that they were leather coats, and the cloth ones I have found look so much more similar to the ones in the game. The leather ones look so different from the game, I really wonder why so many have gone that route in their designs. I always thought they were cloth coats, but again I cant remember if it was ever stated that they were or weren't. Does anyone know or remember SE saying what they were made of?

As I recall that said conversation did take place. Herc and Phil talked about the new recruit and phil mentioned Roxas and Herc said something along the lines of the new recruit was delayed and wouldn't be there for some time. And Phil said "Who have I been training then?!" Next time Roxas showed up, Phil said something like it didn't matter who he was or where he came from. It was a great scene, I wish phil would've made more reference to Roxas or a recruit in KH2- unless im forgetting something. I hope they do that at some point.

I just watched the Kingdom Hearts 2.5 launch trailer and at the end of it, my first thought was, "God, I love this fandom." And watching that video just made me smile and laugh and feel so happy in a way I haven't felt in a while. I love this fandom, I love Kingdom Hearts. I love that I've had the opportunity to be here on this site, to meet and talk to people who love and share a passion for this game. I love the people here who, even though ive never met, gave so much kindness to me over the years, and I treasure the conversations, the arguments, the debates, and the exploration of topics that have to do with this fantastical game. I just love this fandom, and I love its fans! You all are just so awesome! The reason I'm here now saying all this is, a few months ago, I joined the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. I'll be leaving to go to boot camp in May, and after 8 weeks, I'll be leaving to go to my training school. This year is going to be just insanely busy, and scary at times, and just hard all around. And in the time I've had to enjoy many things in my life for possibly the last time for years to come, I realized something. I realized how much I'm going to miss this place, this fandom, this forum, and playing Kingdom Hearts. I don't know after I leave when the next time I'll be able to get on here on a consistent basis, or play this game I love so much. So I know I don't leave for a while, but I just wanna say to everyone here, thanks for the great memories! Thanks for all the great conversations, and arguments, and rage debates, and exploration of topics. Thanks for fangirl/boying out, and sharing excitement and joy for this game through out the years. I remember in Days that scene where Axel is in the library and he finds a book about Namine. God I wish I could read that book. She really is one of the last remaining complete mysteries in the series. If they never go into more detail about her, I will be so disappointed.

IDK why its not letting me quote here: Flaming Lea "#6 ...Roxas isn't Vens nobody." I never said he was. I just said since his heart was inside him. Nomura has said Roxas can dual wield because of Ventus, and that Roxas looks the way he does because of Ven. I just think it's curious that his 'inactive heart' is causing all these other things to happen to Roxas and yet he doesn't have any memories from it- especially when he was first born. Even if Vens heart is inactive, it was active enough to give him an appearance, why wouldn't Roxas have any even lingering memories from what remains of Vens heart- especially when Roxas had nothing when he was born. I still find it odd... And I wasn't looking for a straight up answer to Namine, I was hoping for more of a theories discussion. Though I never really thought of Sora walking around as being just a heart. I always thought of it as you needed at least a soul and a body to be sentient and walking around. I think I need to revisit BBS again and freshen up on Vens story near the end. Regardless, I still want to know what anyones theories are on what Namine is and why she wasn't a zombie when she was born.

Ive been on this forum as Fates Chance since i think 2010, but i forgot my password and the email was supposed to get to get a new one went to an email i haven't used in 2 years and never deleted and forgot the password for as well, sooooo i just decided to just make a new account! I am now Fates Chance XIII! So if any of the veterans of this site who see this and recognize or remember my old username, Fates Chance XIII is still the old Fates Chance.
