X/Kye/Key/Chi Symbolism that blew my mind.
Okay so, maybe this has already been talked about but you know how MX says that the 'X' is an ancient letter that symbolizes death and endings right? Though if you look into it, you see that letter, pronounced that way is from ancient greek. But you'll also see that it doesnt symbolize death or endings in ancient greek. That sybolism actually belongs to the greek letter Theta (which looks like a 0 with a line in it.). This symbolism was to the point where theta is comparable to our skull and crossbones today. So when I discovered this I was kinda confused and thought, "Well who says he's even refering to our worlds ancient languages anyways" But I also discovered something else about 'X' and it kinda blew my mind. "In Plato's Timaeus, it is explained that the two bands that form the soul of the world cross each other like the letter Χ." (A Timaeus btw is just one of "Plato's dialogues, mostly in the form of a long monologue given by the title character Timaeus of Locri, written c. 360 BC. The work puts forward speculation on the nature of the physical world and human beings") I find this really interesting that if 'X' doesnt symbolize death, that plato symbolism is still really interesting to put on the X as we see it in the series. Just thought I'd share

Chirithys name
Okay, now I acknowledge that i am very behind on the story of UX but I was just wondering if the meaning behind Chirithys name was ever sussed out. I mean, with how important names have been in this series theres gotta be something behind it right? And with the whole "X/kye/key/chi" thing theres gotta be something there right?

I actually feel bad for playing KH3
You can still like something with it's flaws though. You can acknowledge the faults and still be having fun. Dont let the criticism ruin what you did like. I mean there are flaws with every KH game, and post every KH game there has been this sorta thing with people weighing in. Even if you agree with the criticisms of the game on a second play through, but are still having fun, let your self have the fun! This happened to me with KH2s opening. I genuinely liked KH2s opening and playing as Roxas. It was the first KH game I played all the way through (started with CoM only played like half cause it wasnt mine) and the mystery and story of Roxas friends and the weird things going on arround town, IDK, I genuinely liked it. But everyone just kept saying how boring and stupid it was and I started to think maybe I was wrong and couldnt get all that people would say out of my mind when replaying it. Until finally I just said, "Ya know what, it has flaws, it has problems and those criticisms are true in a lot of places. But, I dont care" and let myself enjoy it again. If you really enjoyed KH3, even if you find truth in the the critics words, but still find joy when you play it, keep playing it. Focus of the happy feelings when you play. And if the critics words come up in your head, even if you agree with them, just remember you're still having fun so whats it matter? Hope you can find the joy in something you like again.

Kingdom Hearts 4
Fates Chance- KHCD replied to kingdomhearts4's topic Kingdom Hearts III & Kingdom Hearts III Re MindTo give the foretellers more character because they're setting them up as important and yet I barely care about any of them even after having watched backcover and UX. They are following up some pretty amazing villains so if they drop the ball I will be very sad. Also to have UX have more relevance to the story because they keep saying how important the stuff is but it hasnt really played a big role in the games yet. It looks like they're setting that up to be the next saga so I hope they ramp it up a bit. Also give us time with all the characters together. I want to see them talk, I want to see them fight together, laugh together ect. I dont want any of our old main or main secondary characters (TAV, ARX, Isa, Namine the old Org members) to fall into being background or irrelevant or minor characters. I want them to have purpose and growth and reason to still be in the game and if not be given proper write offs or at the very least good reasons why they cant be in the plot any more with satisfying conclusions. Which I understand is going to be hard especially for those who have been main characters in their own right or even main secondary characters like Axel (it really donned on me after KH3 how freaking huge the cast is now) so fingers crossed they dont mess it up. My hope is that we have an avengers style series, where the main numbered games focus on Sora, but we also get smaller games with other characters as the playable character working towards what ever is coming next before all coming together for the Avengers style numbered games with sora at the center again. I am all for BBS style games as well to accomplish this. where you have multiple characters who are all setting off on their own adventures to helpwith the plot that intertwine and are connected. I would love that. Also I want more of the 9-12 org members. I want to see more about Larxene and Marluxia, and Luxord and Demyx. They never explained anything about why they joined back up or what any of their motivations were in KH3 so I wants to know MORE SE!!

The KH3 moment that made me scream, "WHAT?!"
- Kingdom Hearts 3 DLC
Fates Chance- KHCD replied to kingdomhearts4's topic Kingdom Hearts III & Kingdom Hearts III Re MindI want more of everything but top of my list is: More of twilight town The TwilightTown gang because they were really important then just fell off the face of the earth and Sora never spoke with them again even though there was set up. I kept waiting for us to go back... Lea and Kairi training- Why do people hate Kingdom Hearts 3D?
Oh god *flashbacks to 2012* Never thought I'd see one these again anytime soon lol! For me it is the time travel and the further convolution of the plot. KH in general before 3D had a complicated but still easily understandable plot, lore, all of which fit very closely together and followed its rules really well. With the time travel added into it and all the complexity that came with it, KH descended into the convoluted label. Not only descended but embraced it proudly and has never let go. And in doing so gave itself a lot more lore and weird rules to keep track of as well as outs for things. And keeping track of a this lore and rules for how things work became much more headache inducing and frustrating instead of complex, deep but understandable if you have a half hour. Now I cant help but feel like a crazy person trying to explain how this all works to people who aren't familiar with it all. Like that meme with the guy with the crazy hair and the board connected by red tape. It really raised the barrier to entry for this series too. Pre 3D, you could basically jump in anywhere and be drawn in, confused but still intrigued and become invested to play the other games to get the fuller picture of the story. Post 3D, or if you started with 3D I really really doubt that could be the case anymore. There is so much complicated lore and rules now that i cant imagine someone jumping in and not immediately going 'WHAT IS HAPPENING I DONT UNDERSTAND?!?!' because now they have to catch up on so much freaking complexity. And 3D has now saddled all future games with having to give time over to recapping this convolution. I dont hate 3D as a KH fan and as a game by itself. I still play it, I love the game play, I loved the flow motion which now makes it so that every time I go play another KH game I palpably long for it. I loved how it brought good visuals for a KH game to the DS. (And at the time cursed SE for not having a Days remake planned fir the 3DS because now I saw what it couldve been) I loved the development of the characters- Riku, Sora, Lea, Yen Sid. I loved a lot of the worlds though I wish some of them had got more attention and time (hunchback*cough*). But the direction in which it sent the series is what I really dislike about it.- Opinion on Kairi in KH3
Fates Chance- KHCD replied to The 13th moogle's topic Kingdom Hearts III & Kingdom Hearts III Re MindIm really hoping that this is all elaborate set up for the next KH game to focus on Kairi and have her be the playable character (ala BBS or Days). I mean how freaking hyped would people be if after KH3 where we got next to nothing for her and are deeply frustrated the next game gets dropped and we see her and Riku setting off on an adventure to find him and set up the next saga of the series. That'd be some serious emotional manipulation but you know what, I'd be down for that. I'd love for that to be the case. We've played as Riku who is now a master and if we ever play as again they would need to make up a very good reasom why he's at lv 1 again. And we've played as Sora multiple times and who is now (spoilers) I'd honestly even be okay with a BBS style game where you play as all three separately if they didnt want a Kairi only focused follow up game. I'd play the heck out of either.- does namine .....?
Now this has always been my running theory but I think how they found worlds was they sent the dusks or lesser nobodies out into what ever medium the heartless use to travel to worlds and follow them. When the heartless lead them to a new world and begin appearing there, they'd report back and tell the higher ups about it thus enabling the Org to use DCs (which are basically just shortcuts) to get there. Reason I always thought they would do this is because of what their goals were in going to the worlds: collect hearts. If they followed the heartless to the worlds, then they would finally be in a place they could be fought and have the hearts collected. I mean, honestly they could've just sent Roxas to the Realm of Darkness and had him fight Heartless there and not bothered with sending him to other worlds, but Heartless are a lot stronger there which is riskier. This would also allow them to keep tabs on the heartlesses movements in the realm of light and the state of the worlds. Not for any care of the worlds, but for any future plans they may have. Again, just a theory, but I think it makes the most sense.- does namine .....?
I dont think its tied to the black coats really, they just provide protection against the darkness in the corridors and in the realm of darkness as well as their other abilities. As for Riku, that is exactly what happend. In TWTNW, right at the end when they think they've won, Riku says he'll create a path for them to get home. He holds out his hand to make a portal and nothing happens. Confused Riku looks at his hands and then Mickey- by way of explanation-says that he doesnt belong to the dark anymore. Which tells us why a somebody would be able to make those. Nobodies are ae to because they are creatures of darkness and of the in between. So they can travel via those methods. But it still gives no explaination to why Ienzo cant do it anymore. And then theres how Lea got to the MT in the first place, he just sorta showed up. If I'm right in my theory that you can only use a DC to go some where you already know about (coming from how they are used in Days where Roxas is told about a new world then has a portal made for him, after which he uses his own, as well as when he says, "Ive been everywhere I know how to get to" -it really makes you wonder how he got there. Maybe they'll go into more detail in the 3D novel if we get an english version on that. But unless they are suggesting that Lea as a recompleted being still belonged to the dark somehow like in Rikus situation, I cant see this as any less than a plot hole right now. A small one, but one they brought attention to by having Ienzo saying that and contradicting what they set up. Or maybe after you become recompleted you can use it for a small amount of time after and then it fades away. I hope they soon teach the keybearers how to make corridors of light like in UX though. And I think recompleted nobodies do retain some ability to use magic even if they arent keybearers. Like with Lea and his Chakrams in 3D, so I hope all the 3-6 members can maybe do some stuff again.- does namine .....?
Weird thing is though is that in DDD he was still able to summon his chakrams and he open dark corridors. Remember how he got to disney castle? And Mickey tells him how traveling like that was reckless? Riku was able to summon the DCs when he 'belonged to the dark' in KH2 and then lost the ability at the end of KH2. Remember he tried and nothing happened? This is something I've really been trying to figure out since Ienzo said that.- Would you read a novel from Saïxs' point of view?
I'll take that as a no then? Lol! I like expansions on stories like how they been doing in the novels. It's more of the characters I love and getting to see things through their POV and learn more about them. Especially if they didnt get as much focus in the game. Like Axel and Riku and Namine in the KH2 novel. Not everyones cuppa tea though so no prob.- What are your favorite KH3 theories?
What are you guys favorite theories so far? I really like the Blain is a time traveled Eraqus theory because I think it would be so sad that he would've grownup and then became a master to Ven and it would add so many layers to the scene where Eraqus goes to strike Ven down.- Marluxia and Larxenes age and memories
- THAT dreameater of 'you know who's shouldnt be there SPOILERS
- Supposed Pokémon Gen VIII (MAY NOT BE REAL)
Yeah, they usually stick to pretty gender neutral names. I remember hearing about Crown and Scepter (i think) as possible next names which i think would be better if they were going for a royal theme. I'm not a huge fan of King and Queen as names for gen 8. I'll still buy one either way, but it'll definitely depend on whats exclusive to each. Whoa! Wait! Dude, if this was real, what if they made each one gender locked? Like you could only play as a girl in one and a boy in the other and that was why they named them gendered like this? (Assuming this was real of course) And being a boy or girl really affected the story some how? Like they were completely different games story wise. That'd be pretty interesting though I think some people would be angry with that. I think it'd be cool.- Fandom thing that is extremely funny to me
Does anyone else find it extremely funny that internet fandoms (fan art, fan fic ect) is old enough now that older fans in the fandom will reference things about how the fandom used to be and younger or newer fans- who may not have even been BORN yet when the older fans got into the fandom- get confused or surprised and the older fans will then tell them all about it? Like a grandparent telling the youngsters to gather round for a 'back in my day' story! XD Like about how there were once INTENSE FLAME WARS about certain things in the fandom but that peoples opinions changed and now the fandoms attitudes on this thing are completely different. And how the new fans missed all this. Or even just ship names, or terms that used to be used to describe things that weren't known yet (ex, BHK- blonde haired kid for when we didnt know who Roxas was, or how Unversed was mistranslated as Unbirths which caused months and months of theories of what that could mean, or the term 'Lemon' or 'Citrus Scale' in the fan fic community) It's just kind funny to me that we've reached that point where the fandom feels like it has a history now that gets passed down. I kinda feel bad for newer fans though who are just discovering these games- or anything really -where we older fans had it in it's hayday where everyone was talking about it and theorizing and stuff. It's just not the same experience.- Your kingdom hearts collection
Do any of you guys have KH collections? Manga, consoles, novels, special editions ect? I thought it'd be cool to share with everyone what we've got and what we'd love to have some day. I dont have pics (all my stuffs in storage at home cause I'm in the Navy) but I have: The japanese novels/books of: KH1, Days (2 of 3), BBS, 3D, CoM (side Riku). The another report that came with the Japanese KH2 final mix. Manga: All of the original run of the KH2 (before printing ceased), the old KH1 and CoM. And all the days manga. Still need to get all the new KH2 manga. Games: A few special editions with the art book of I think it was 1.5? And KH3 deluxe edition. Props: I have an Oblivion, oathkeeper and Kingdom key What I'd love to have most: The special edition GB SP for the original CoM. They cost like 350 on ebay but one day...Also the special edition psp for bbs, the ds for Days and 3D. And lastly, most of all the promotional poster for 358/2 days. I was actually given one by the store I got my copy in. It was the first KH game that released after I became a fan, the first one I waited for, followed every scrap of news and updates and theories. But I didnt know what preorders were (facepalm). I went into this store once or twice a week leading up to release to talk with other fans and the staff. And on release day, I went in and they were sold out and they wouldnt be getting another shipment for a week or so. I was really sad, but then the manager was like, "You know, just one sec", went to the back and handed me an extra store promo poster they had been sent! They knew how excited I was for the game from me coming in so often and said they would save me a copy when it came in. (They earned a lifelong customer after that!) I cherished that poster until one day when i was moving it got damaged beyond repair. I was devastated. I'd love to have that poster again. What about yall?- Possibility of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix to be ported to the Nintendo Switch
It would be so amazing to be able to play all kh games on a single portable console. Even if they didnt remake Days and Coded and just ported them to the switch and made the interface copatable with one screen like they did with 3D, I would be happy. I'd of course die for remakes of them both, but if they couldnt do that and we just got the port with the new cutscenes from the movie added in, it would be so amazing. I even would like to have the original CoM on the switch just to preserve it. It came out 15yrs ago now, and I still play it from time to time. It's a decent game and deserves to be remembered as the original with all the differences from when they remade it. I really do love how a lot of older games are getting ports to modern consoles so people can still play them and they can be introduced to new fans.- What got you into Kingdom Hearts?
I actually remember seeing a trailer for KH1 in some store when I was like 7 and I dont know why but I remember thinking it was a Disney cross over movie! XD I didnt realize it was a game until I saw the original CoM in a game store. I can remember this so clearly, picking it up, thinking the box art was cool, and putting it right back down!! I wasnt in to much back then other than pokemon and mario ect so I had no interest. My sister bought it though, and the reason we were in that game store was we were going to Brazil for like a month or 2 to visit family. So there I was, 9 yrs old, on a plane with a dead gameboy and my sister was playing this new game. I watched her for a while and kept bugging her to let me try and she finally did! I'd never played KH1 and the thing that got me hooked was the mystery (because I had no idea what the heck was going on), the story, the characters (Axel was my favorite) and especially the theme of memories/true and false memories, and losing/forgetting memories and things that are important to you. I kinda blame CoM for how much I've treasured and valued memories my entire life. It put the idea in my head and I remember thinking alot that whole time in Brazil about what memories mean, and why they're important, and stuff. But then my sis took the game back and I never got to play it again cause she sold it and I couldnt remember what it was called. I remember for a while after, everytime I went to a game store I'd look at every game box in the GBA section trying to find that box art but I never could find it. Years pass, arround I think 2008, my sis and her friend are playing a ps2 game in our living room. I walk in and decided to hang out. It seemed pretty lame at first glance, some blonde boy beating up white monsters on some stage. My sister wins and suddenly, the camera pans to a man in a black coat and my eyes went wide. "I've seen that somewhere before...but where??" i think He's clapping, walking forward and begins to speak. Trying to remember where I've seen this before the man says, "You really dont remember? It's me! Ya know, Axel!" And he takes off his hood and I see a familiar face, the face of a favorite character from a long time ago. From a game I forgot the name of but couldnt stop thinking about even years latter. And I flipped the HECK OUT!! I jumped out of my chair and began pointing and talking over the cutscene, "Bette! Bette!! (my sis) It's that guy, its that GUY!! From that gameboy game!! What's he doing here?!" Played through KH2 and thought that was the end and kinda came to terms with that. Saw they were releasing a remade version of CoM and I remember begging for it for Christmas, got that and loved seeing Axel back where I first met him. (Was surprised to discover Vexen was a dude. Yes, I thought he was a woman until that point.) I didnt know if KH2 would ever get a sequal, it seemed like they couldve ended it there and I wasnt in the fandom more than just looking up fan art every now and then (because I didnt know fan forums were a thing) until I discovered a game was coming out centered on Axel and Roxas time in the Org!! (Dont remember how though) Found the fan forums where I could talk and theorize with other fans, get news and updates and that was where I think I realized the series had me forever. And I've been hooked ever since. I kinda love that after all this time Axel- the character that helped get me invested in this game series and was my reintroduction to this series- has remained my favorite character. And just how I got reintroduced to it in general honestly, it was too perfect! Cant wait to read everyone elses KH stories!- Have you read and do you like the KH light novels?
I personally really like how they've become. KH1s was kinda bad, but by the time I read KH2s and Days I think they got it figured out and now I love them!! What about you?- Do you ever wish there was a KH Convention?
Like not just a con with KH stuff or one pannel or something, I mean a no joke KH centered Con. I think that would be so awesome if once a year, KH fans from all over could converge on a single place for a day or two and meet other fans and maybe have a couple guests, lots of merch from artists in an artists alley, or maybe even like feature artists work that could be nominated and voted on by the community through out the year and the winners would get to have their stuff printed out big and displayed. Maybe have like a concert with KH music or remixes that people can dance to, woth themed drinks and food, and a cosplay contest....(day dreams about it being real) IDK, this is something I've been thinking about for a while and I think the fandom is big enough now and global enough that it would be worth doing. Kind of like how Harry Potter has its own convention. What do you guys think? And what else would you want to happen at this KH Con if it were real?- Possibility of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix to be ported to the Nintendo Switch
Only fan translations. https://khenglish.wordpress.com/index/somewhere-in-time/ Here's a good one. I havent read it in a very long time, and I was wrong about when it takes place. It takes place after Axel has just got back from CO. Their relationship and Roxas personality and even Axels personality aittle bit are very different from how they became in Days at this point. Give it a read, you'll see what I mean. - Kingdom Hearts 3 DLC
