  1. Meh. If he is in it, I hope it's not a major role. Vader already dominated six Star Wars movies, I really want them to give different characters more chance to shine. Rogue One would also be a great place to plant the seeds of the First Order, like maybe a young Captain Phasma or some other nod to indicate that they didn't just spring up out of nowhere in Ep. VII. Making it another Darth Vader movie would kind of kill a lot of that. Also, if you want to be reminded of why Darth Vader is a badass, you can just go watch the original trilogy again. Good luck finding a modern Disney movie on Netflix.
  2. Hrm... in that case, I'd honestly say skip it. I originally tried playing it on 360, and it's just not at all suited for a controller. I've also heard though can't confirm that the PS3 version of Skyrim is by far the buggiest, which for a Bethesda game is saying a lot.
  3. I mean, you might as well. It's reasonably cheap these days, something like $30-40 for the Legendary Edition, and that's when it's not on sale. Or you can get the standard for like $10-20. I haven't played it much because it's just not my kind of game, but I will say the game works infinitely better on PC just because Bethesda games tend to be much easier to control with mouse and keyboard (plus mods are great, obviously). If you're into sword and sorcery type games and you've got a machine that can handle it and mods, then I'd say go for it.
  4. Personally I just keep all mine next to the consoles they belong to, since I have everything set up in my living room. You could probably just get a good sized plastic tub for like $10 and keep them all in a closet or under a bed, that's what a friend of mine does with his dozens of controllers.
  5. Well of course, if Sora were to ever actually learn any important details, he might be less of a totally unremarkable boy, and WE CAN'T HAVE THAT.
  6. You're making quite a leap there. I never said the prequels were pointless, they covered a different time that was previously alluded to in Star Wars canon that had never been touched before. (I don't they they covered that time particularly well, but that's beside the point). Movies based on the Dark Times really can't do that- the universe has been fleshed out by now, much more that it was back in 1999. The most they can do is improve the backstory of existing characters, like Rogue Squadron or Han Solo. And that's what they're doing. Improving backstory of existing characters and also not a movie, so I fail to see how it's relevant. Also I already said I'd be down for a Tarkin movie. I don't see how. She very clearly is not in any of IV-IV, so she either is in hiding the entire time or she's dead. This is the kind of thing I'm talking about- say they do make a Shaak Ti movie, nothing she could possibly do is going to have any bearing on anything important. The original trilogy still happens whether or not she does anything, unless they retcon shit again, and that would just be the worst. I never even brought up The Clone Wars. And yes, I do think it's a travesty, but it's hardly the only bad thing Lucas is responsible for. Just look at all of Ep. II. Or most of Ep. III. Or the near constant re-editing of the originals. He made a lot of bad decisions.
  7. Same. I love the character designs and the jerky animations of all the lesser Nobodies and the OG Org were like the best villains in the series for me.
  8. Exactly. They are killed. Vader and the Empire wipes them all out except Obi Wan and Yoda, and Luke ends up being the last hope for the Jedi. There's not much wiggle room there. They can tell whatever story they want, but it's going to end with any remaining Jedi being killed, the Empire rises to full strength, and then Ep. IV starts. No matter what, it's all not going to matter. Fleshing out previously referred to characters and events is the only real way to go (Rogue One, Han Solo prequel, I would personally kill for a Tarkin movie, etc.) but there's a hard limit on that stuff. (Also it should go without saying that just because George Lucas wanted to do something does not make it a good idea. He wanted to (and got to do) a lot of stupid shit that ended up being terrible.)
  9. Yeah, I noticed there was a big holiday sale right now. Honestly, I'm mostly just holding out until after Christmas; my family is likely to be getting me video games cuz they're nice and they'll be friggin' pissed if I buy the same game they already bought me.
  10. Owning a brand new PS4 is pretty sweet. Not having any games for it is kind of the pits.
  11. I dunno, it depends on what else Sora can do. He's already got tons of insane acrobatic shotlock-y theme-park-ride-summoning Keyblade-transforming abilities just from what the early footage has shown; does he even really need Drive forms anymore?
  12. I absolutely love that they're making what essentially amount to expanded universe movies- not that they're gonna based on the EU at all probably, but just the idea of tons of side stories to flesh out the universe and on the big screen just makes my mouth water. And agreed, an Obi-Wan movie would be great. Dunno about much else in between III and IV though; we already know how it's all going to turn out so there's this huge sense of inevitability.
  13. I wish every car company would advertise by re-dubbing anime.
  14. It's about friggin time they started crowd-funding Psychonauts 2. It's like the perfect game for that kind of thing.
  15. Because human beings always stereotype everyone else. Never mind that almost no one matches any given stereotype and different people like different things no matter how similar they seem to others; stereotyping is just easier. Call of Duty is one of the biggest most successful franchises in the industry, and teens play a lot of video games, therefore you obviously must play CoD.
  16. Oh good, both Opposing Force and Blue Shift are rad (Opposing Force significantly more so because it actually has new content, while Blue Shift just kinda copies all the weapons and enemy types from HL1, though it's still worth it if only because of the fat balding Canadian security guards). And good luck with the whiplash of going from Black Mesa back to late 90s shooter games. Those polygons'll mess you up something fierce.
  17. Now to get caught up on 8 years of waiting for the next Half-Life game. Also, would definitely recommend Opposing Force, it's a great expansion with tons of awesome new weapons and enemies. (Plus, it had a main character named Shepard coincidentally 8 years before Mass Effect.)
  18. Just because they were dark doesn't mean they weren't for kids. What was appropriate for children centuries ago is a lot more mature than what we think of today as children's stories. You're right about Snow White and Pinocchio, and Cinderella's step-sisters cut their feet up to try and fit into Cinderella's shoe and later got their eyes pecked out by birds. It's dark shit, but fairy tales are like that. Parents always try to scare their kids into being good, and in the past, that meant telling them they'd get firetrucked up by supernatural forces if they didn't behave. Point is, Disney adapted those into more family friendly versions. No parent in the mid-1900s wanted to take their kid to a cartoon- something that was explicitly for children, remember- that was going to show people getting raped, murdered or mutilated. Standards had changed, so Disney changed the stories. They were still aimed at kids, though, and always had been.
  19. Without actually watching the video: because it was originally was. Early cartoons were typically directed at young people, mostly very simple and wacky- look an any Mickey Mouse cartoon from the 30s. Even feature films for a long time were adaptations of fairy tales (Snow White, Pinocchio, Cinderella), which are more or less cautionary tales for children. Over time as animation became more refined and more accessible, cartoons branched off into different genres and styles. Animation just still has that stigma of being kiddie stuff. (Same thing with comic books; there's a reason people used to call them funny books, y'know.) After watching the video: don't agree with every point he made, but I sure as shit appreciate the A Scanner Darkly footage in the background.
  20. Tetris taught me how to stuff lots of weirdly shaped objects into small spaces, a skill which has proven invaluable in adult life. Thanks, Russia!
  21. If you ever want to win an argument on the internet, just lock the topic before the other person gets the chance to respond. It's effective and makes you look totally cool and respectable.
  22. Yeah, and somehow that makes her the best video game character ever written. The article comes off as them just jerking off about Lightning; there's no mention of her negative qualities that are actually negative, or any actual mention of fan reception or industry reception at all, the article just posits that Lighting is great, Square is great, everything is great, great great and we love it! (Also worth noting, she is not "ground breaking". Juhani from KotOR was an excellently written cold, harsh female character with a softer side way back on 2004.)
  23. It's just kind of a shitty analysis. There's no mention of anything that might be wrong with Lightning as a character, she's just perfect in every way. And if she's flawed, that just makes her even more perfect. And somehow that makes Square Enix the best game company for some reason.
  24. I don't know what he's talking about, he did whatever he felt like doing for the prequels (and much of Ep. VI). The man had total creative control over the movies; all he got to do was experiment. Problem is most of his ideas were terrible, so yeah, people complained about it. Funny how people criticize you when you keep firetrucking up for three straight movies.
