  1. Ummm smokers are paying for it? You act like the hospitals getting business is somehow putting them out of business. Does everyone assume that every person who goes to the hospital does not pay for their own insurance? If you are paying for your own insurance or you have insurance that is not medicaid you are paying for your own negative health. And in that case, I think that other people should butt the hell out of it. Also once again: obesity is killing people faster than cigarettes. Obesity is draining hospitals far more if that's your argument, so we should pass more food laws and outlaw food that is bad for you. Why can't fast food places serve carrots and apples only? Why can they serve a Frappe with over 800 calories? Your logic can just as easily be used against you. If your argument is that smokers are draining hospitals, then being fat should be a federal offense. Risk of almost every health problem is increased dramatically by being obese, yet 1 in 3 Americans are obese. Not even 1 in 5 Americans smoke. Literally more health problems are caused by obesity than smoking.
  2. People don't need to eat fast food. Fast food is not necessary to survival. We should ban fast food. Also alcohol is not necessary for survival, or many other things. Smoking is a hobby, it's an activity, if you justify charging more for it because it's "bad for you" then one could easily justify charging more for video games because they are addicting. Fast food has more negative effects than positive. Banning alcohol has been done, might want to look up the results of that. All it did was encourage drinking of non-tested substances, and made a lot of people rich through illegal bootlegging. Literally fast food will kill you faster than cigarettes, that is a fact. Cigarettes can take decades to kill you even if you smoke a lot, fast food can literally kill you in a few years if you eat as much as some people smoke. Alcohol can kill you much faster than cigarettes as well. Also smoking is not as addictive as people make it out to be. Take it from someone who has smoked: it takes years before you get so addicted you can't live without them. It's easier to quit smoking after 4 years than it is to quit drinking soda. The problem also becomes if you just force people to choose "good ideas" they aren't really good. If people have no other options they aren't really doing good, they are just following the only options they have. They are not learning to make good choices. Forcing people to quit smoking does not make them want to quit more. And at the end of the day: it is no one's business what I do to my body. I have the right to my body and most people who promote against smoking don't actually know that much about smoking beyond what they have been told. I am all for banning smoking in enclosed areas and inside public buildings, but beyond that if you are exposed to second hand smoke, it's your own damn fault. Smokers smoke in confined areas and places that they are permitted to, if you are exposed to it, it's because you enter those areas willingly on a fairly regular basis. If you don't like what other people do with their body, then just ignore it. Honestly though, the more you limit people's rights to their body, the more that the government will try to get away with limiting. Really though the argument of that taxes and laws are trying to get people to quit smoking is bull. The government doesn't want people to quit. If they did, they would approve quitting methods such as patches to be covered by insurance. They would fund more programs to help people quit. The reality is, they want to convince everyone smoking is bad so they can get away with taxing it more and making more money. And everyone will go "well at least they are taxing something that is bad for you" and keep that mentality until they start doing the same with something you like doing. I mean hey, they have been constantly trying to convince the public that video games are bad for you. What is going to stop them from one day trying to tax that more, then suddenly it'll be a big deal.
  3. First of all, I thank you for not walking up to smokers and telling them to stop smoking. You have no idea how freaking annoying it is. The problem though with your comparison is that I have a right to my body and what I choose to do to it. By your logic we should ban fast food outright because fast food has zero health properties at all and is ultimately bad for you. We should deny obese people into restaurants because they are only fueling their obesity. We should ban alcohol because it damages liver. My point is: people have the right to their body and what they choose to do to it, and it doesn't concern you. The issue with it is that people should be allowed to make their own bad choices without other people butting in. I am only quitting though because I need to because of the military training I am about to undergo. People can be addicted to a lot of things, technically speaking sugar is slightly addictive and people can be mentally addicted to just about anything. My problem is that we DO live in a world where our choices are being limited more and more, and the justification for these limitations is getting skimpier and skimpier. You can't serve soda in public school anymore, you can't smoke weed (which has almost no negative health effects at all), you can't drink under the age of 18 anymore, and all for our "health" that honestly the government who is issuing these laws doesn't give a damn about. And now they want to go after a woman's right to abortion. Do you not see that our country is ALWAYS trying to limit what we can and can't do with our bodies, and every inch they are given, they take a mile? So what if smoking is a "bad" choice, people have the right to make it. Try being a smoker. You light a cigarette up in a place that isn't your home and you are sure to find someone. And that mentality is literally how the government gets away with an over 500% tax on cigarettes. Hoping that people like you will think that way and ignore the blatant money laundering. Obesity leads to more preventable death than smoking. Oh god, I have heard this argument so many times. First of all, only if people are living on medicaid will it come out of government taxes, so that isn't everyone. Secondly more people end up in the hospital for preventable death causes due to obesity, which I might add is a higher percentage of people living on government services, yet you don't see anyone shutting down McDonalds. There are so many more things that people are using to blatantly rip off the tax dollars of Americans over that go completely unpunished. Not to mention that vaporizers have reduced negative adverse health effects caused by cigarettes caused to others, fires and have reduced the negative effects of cigarettes all aright, but now people want those gone too. Let's be honest here: people act like they care about other's health but it's just because people become infuriated seeing people make choices that they themselves don't believe people should have.
  4. Bronies are so quick to say "every fandom has bad rep" but really there are tons of fandoms who don't go to the extremes bronies go to. Look, I have nothing against you as a person, and so long as you don't do anything to me personally to get under my grill, I'll be cool with you, but I merely don't want anything to do with that fandom. They have done things to me that I can not forgive. I tried to give them a chance over 3 times, yeah not doing that again.
  5. Okay, I would first like to go on record saying that I actually switched to vapor because I actually don't like smoking that much and I am trying to quit, as is my wife (who still smokes). Also that my father died because of smoking, so I do not really like the long term effects of smoking. That being said: I feel that anti-smoking laws are not protecting non-smokers anymore. I understood not smoking in public areas, and I understood not smoking in closed spaces due to second hand smoke, but really a lot of the recent things regarding smoking I do not believe are to protect other people from second hand smoke, they are pushed by non-smokers to police other people's lives. For example, the recent increase on taxes for cigarettes is bull. In my old state (NY) cigarettes could cost as much as $14 a pack. This tax hype was only introduced because no one feels sorry for smokers. If smokers speak against it, they are instantly met with "well it's bad for you anyways, and second hand smoke!" It's just being used to justify charging smokers more money for something they enjoy doing. Let's get this out of the way: if you preach anti-smoking to smokers, you're an asshole. I am not going to sugarcoat that. I am sorry, but I can not tell you how many people come up to me and my wife and go "you know how bad that is for you?" NO WAY!? All this time I thought it would give me super powers! Not a single smoker is unaware smoking is bad for you. Smokers know it's bad for you, but it is their choice what they want to do with their bodies. Why is it not rude to come up to smokers and tell them what they shouldn't do, but it is rude to go up to fat people and tell them the dangers of diabetes and being overweight? It's a stupid double standard and it doesn't help anyone. You are not going to convince people to quit smoking by shaming them. However, FINALLY we get vaporizers and E-cigs which literally ELIMINATE SECOND HAND SMOKE AND THE SMELL OF CIGARETTES. So you'd think we finally have a good balance? Smokers can now enjoy non-smoker areas without the need to expose everyone to the smell of cigarettes and second hand smoke. Everyone's happy, right? Well not so much. Now people want to push to ban vaporizers and E-cigs from the same places as cigarettes. There isn't a lot of definitive proof that e-cigs or vaporizers cause second hand effects because they don't burn tobacco. I find the push to ban them pretentious. It has nothing to do anymore with protecting non-smokers and has everything to do with that non-smokers just don't want to see smokers.
  6. First of all, you should re-read the rules of the thread. You're not supposed to try and dispute people's opinions here. The thing is though, the clopping thing is not funny. It's gross, and in many parts of the world, it's illegal. I am appalled about stuff in my fandoms that is that gross and the moment I see it, I speak out against it. The problem is, a lot of bronies don't. And saying that yiffing exists isn't much of a saving grace. Yiffing is also gross, and in my opinion wrong as well. So saying because one existed prior doesn't suddenly make clopping any better. This is what I hate about bronies too, their defending of clop. But most of all, I hate the mentality you are putting out the most. Why? because the brony fandom is CONSTANTLY trying to give itself a free pass for all the dumb shit it does and make excuses for it. Look, if you see people in your fandom doing something stupid, you should speak up, not go "oh well they don't make up the majority" and let them continue. Know why a lot of other fandoms who are even bigger than bronies manage to keep better reputations? Because they discourage behavior like that. I'll quote you both since you're both talking to me. Let's just set the record straight: I was not only in the brony fandom, but I was on a lot of their major hubs and even ran one with over 10,000 users at one point. So I am not basing this on small incidents. Look, you may find a few good people, hell I have too. I got a few buddies I grabbed out of the fandom that I held onto, but you want to know what the rest of my experience was like? I am going to lay this flat out: bronies do not actually get that much hate. Most people want to ignore them. I very rarely got people joining just to troll bronies. On top of this, if bronies shut up about being bronies everywhere they went, they wouldn't have an issue. Many people believe it or not didn't know what bronies were and would have been content with that. The problem is bronies (now remember I am using bronies as a general term here for lack of a better word and I understand there will always be exceptions) have a victim complex. I have seen many of them liken themselves to homosexuals coming out of the closet and others acting like the whole world hates them. Here's the truth: neither of those two things are true. There are actually no where near as many brony-haters as there are bronies. How can you possibly take that much offense to a group that hates you when you drastically outnumber them? No, the reason why people get mad at bronies on other sites is because bronies have a habit of trying to take over non-brony spaces and not leaving well-enough alone. But I digress, here is what I got to endure in the brony fandom: Death threats. Sexist and racial slurs. Constant organized revenge schemes against me for banning people for legitimate reasons. Rumors being spread about me and my loved ones. Threats so bad that I literally had to delete my accounts and change my skype. JUSTIFICATION of those threats. (Yes, groups of people on these sites literally tried to tell me that "maybe you deserved those threats".) Theft of my art, my friends art, and even my girlfriend at the time's art. Blatant disregard of that theft. Found a girlfriend in the fandom, ended up cheating on me (and no not an internet girlfriend a real life one) A guy marrying a Twilight Sparkle plushie. Threads literally almost every day about clopping despite being against the rules. Porn posted on a regular basis on a site made for kids 13+ People literally complaining that their porn was taken down. Lazy co-worker staff members who don't do their job. Backstabbing left and right. 3 pedophiles roaming our site. When I stressed the need to report it to the authorities, literally people were too worried about if bronies would look like pedophiles for reporting them if they made the news. YES, people were more worried about bronies looking bad than stopping known pedophiles. This is only on one site too. The issue is that bronies want too hard to be known they are bronies. If bronies donate to charity, they have to make sure it's under the brony umbrella and make sure everyone knows it was them. Bronies want to be recognized so badly that it makes me sick. You can say what you want about that fandom to defend it, but after what that fandom has done to me, and the example it has set, it's going to take more than "not everyone is like that" to convince me to give them another chance. The sad part is, this is the THIRD time I had given them another chance because they have done stuff like this to me before, and I am at the point where I see little reason in giving them more chances. KH fans have never done this to me, Nintendo fans haven't, not even Homestuckians (which apparently people hate quite a bit). Only fandom I have ever had this happen was bronies. Sorry if it comes off as "closed minded" to just lump them all together, but really in my situation, can you blame me? I can not even go to certain places because there is a crazy guy who was stalking me because he was out to get me and harm me, and for what? Because he got fired from a pony website. A lot of the people in the brony fandom, let's be honest: are not exactly there socially. Many of them seem to lack proper social etiquette. At the end of the day, here is where I stand on them: If a brony is at a non-brony con and people are giving them shit just because it's not a brony con, I will gladly defend said brony. Only because I believe people can share space. Just like if there are bronies here, I will not assume you are instant assholes. So long as you're cool with me, I'll be cool with you. And you respect that I do not have a good opinion of the fandom itself, but that doesn't mean I will not have a good opinion of you. There is more to you than belonging to a fandom and you should recognize that. However if I see bronies in non-brony spaces attempting to take over said spaces, I step in. This is a KH forum for example, you shouldn't yell to get an MLP board added, etc. There are sites for you and sites for KH fans, use them. I don't want to hear about clop. Period. If you don't bring it up, I won't criticize you for it. Because really, I shouldn't be able to criticize anyone for clop, because I shouldn't know you do it because it shouldn't be publicly discussed. No one wants to know what you are pleasing yourself to, so if you are upset that I am criticizing you for liking clop, you have only yourself to blame for that, because the only way I could know you're doing it, is you. I will treat every brony as everyone else upfront, until they give me reason to be weary of them. Granted, I can admit that when I first meet someone and the most important thing they feel to tell me when first meeting them is "I'm a brony", that can be a little bit of a caution flag. I intend on being "fair" to bronies as much as I can, but I certainly will not stand up for their fandom. I'll tolerate them, and I'll be willing to look past them being bronies at points, but I am not touching their fandom with a borrowed pole, and I am not about to stand up for them except in incidents of shared spaces.
  7. The show is alright (sort of going downhill a bit) but bronies really give this fake mantra about how they are such a loving community when they aren't. They are inhospitable to anyone who shares different beliefs than they do and also insanely sexist. Bronies are like a club of all the "friendzoned" "nice guys" who constantly complain they can't find a girlfriend. To make it worse they seem to have this fantasy they are going to find a woman that is like one of their favorite characters. If a female enters their space, they all start to kiss the ground she walks on and will give her free passes to behave in deplorable manners for attention. Many girls join that fanbase just to garner free attention for the most trivial of things.
  8. Bronies are by far one of the worst fandoms I have ever encountered. Their "love and tolerate" motto is merely a facade. After being in their community for a considerable amount of time, I can honestly say they are spiteful, angry, sexist, and really just all around bad people. Their artists are ego-maniacs a lot of the time, and charge insane amounts for as little work as possible. To top it all off, bronies feel that EVERYTHING is fair use, even when it isn't. They have this mentality that everything is okay to rip off (art theft is rampant in that community) and do not care if they are destroying anyone's livelihood. After spending years on their sites, I can safely say that a majority of brony communities are hostile towards non-extremist fans, and many of their sites are riddled with users making power grabs to get more sway in the brony community. Honestly though, I have had bronies threaten to kill me for the most benign of crap. I recently got a guy fired from a brony website for not doing his job correctly, the staff told him that I reported him and he came to me and threatened to kill my family with an AK-47 and went on about how I had formed a "powerful enemy". Shortly after he was telling the entire site about me. I was legitimately so concerned for my safety, I deleted all my account and made a new email/skype. If that all wasn't bad enough, their obsession with clopping is disturbing. Any brony will insist "it's not the whole fandom" but a lot of the evidence clearly shows that it's a very popular activity among them considering how much porn is produced. This would all be fine and dandy if it were not for the fact that discussion of clopping seems to be permitted on any social medium they inhabit, regardless of age restrictions. I recall being on sites that were rated PG13, and right out on public walls people would post long detailed discussions about clopping, defending their weird masturbation habits. Look bro, I don't care what you are tugging to, the issue is: the world doesn't need to know about it. Bronies are far too open with their sexual exploits, to the point where they attempt to justify it in every single way possible. There are even people who made videos using "science" to try and make clopping sound normal. I can honestly say, after observing that fandom up close, within their own fandom I am glad I never called myself a brony, and I can say with confidence that it is a fandom that is poison. I have lost a good real life friend to this brony obsession. All his free time is wasted on brony crap, all his social functions involve ponies, he is going no where with his life. His apartment lacks furniture for 2 years now, but he wastes money on bronycons.
  9. Sadly no... I am not active enough, nor do I post enough for anyone to get to know me. Would I like friends? Sure.
  10. I doubt I would want to dump money into the failing handheld that is the Vita simply to play KH on the go. If I was really interested in that, there is already Birth by Sleep, and really I could wait for the DragonBox Pyra and hope it can handle it.
  11. Actually 2K only published Bioshock. The company that made them (Irrational Games) announced they would not be developing more Bioshock in 2014, and the company has since become defunct. They laid off a majority of their employees, closed the company down and they are going off to go back to doing smaller titles as a small group again. Also guys, 2K is MOSTLY A publisher, and they have locations all over the world. This is just them trimming the fat. Considering how long games take to get to Australia, and how low their sales are because of censorship (some of the heaviest in the world) I imagine 2K just didn't see it as profitable to keep doing business there.
  12. Yeah, hell we may even be seeing the end of tablets soon, as apparently recent reports have shown that even the iPad is declining in sales. With how people are about tech these days, they are ready for the next big thing as soon as possible, but I get excited when old devices retire simply because that's when everyone starts figuring out how to modify them and do extra fun stuff with them because they are no longer worried about updates that will break their work or voiding warranties.
  13. Well keep in mind, at the TIME it was released its resolution was amazing. The system was way ahead of its time, but unfortunately smartphones became a big thing shortly after, making everything the PSP could do obsolete. However I still keep on because of the fact that it's an amazing system to mod. It supports so much in terms of emulation. It's probably the best portable emulator you can get.
  14. That is one thing I like about the PS3 theme builder over the PSP, it supports more dynamic themes and gives you a little more control over them. The PSP theme builder is rather primitive, and the PSP's resolution is soooooo tiny that it makes all those nice high res icons look like crap. :c
  15. Yeah, for fun I am going to make a PSP theme to go with it. It really sucks though that Sony kind of killed the customization of their systems with the Vita and PS4... I miss being able to do this. :c
  16. The background? No. It's literally just the load screen image from Heart of the swarm, the icons however I had to make myself. I WISH I could draw like that. Also, I did a little update.
  17. So I have been fooling around with the PS3 theme builder after I was messing with my PSP theme, and I decided I wanted to try my hand at making a full theme (and put my degree in graphic design to work, I suppose). I am still in the very early alpha stages, because building an entire theme is a lot of work, and I'm only a few hours into designing the icons and such. The final product is going to have a complete icon set, cursors, sounds, and the works. I'll probably update this thread later on with what build it is currently on, and eventually I think I may remake the KH2 Final Mix theme because really, the theme they gave us for completing the game is just kind of a wallpaper... But this theme is Starcraft 2, particularly Heart of the Swarm. Below is a current preview of what it looks like, followed by a download link, and if I get time, a video of what it looks like on your PS3 (but I'm sure many of you can check for yourself). As I said, this is a VERY early alpha, intended only for testing purposes for those willing to try it, and will hopefully lead to me making future themes if I feel it's well received. Last Update: 1/31/2015 8:55PM Preview Image: Note: the little white dots do not appear on the actual theme, for some reason the preview generator does that! Download Link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7wbh17q6hgrwt7j/Kerrigan.p3t How to Install: First you're going to need obviously: -A PS3 and dualshock 3 controller (duh) -A flashdrive that is formatted and compatible with your system -A computer to copy the files to the flashdrive from -The theme file itself. 1. Create a new folder on the root of your flashdrive called "PS3" 2. Inside that folder create a secondary folder called "THEME" (both of these are important, as the PS3 won't recognize the theme without these!) 3. Paste the .p3t into the "THEME" folder 4. Insert the flashdrive into your PS3 5. Under Theme Settings go to install, and the flashdrive should pop up with the theme 6. Install the theme, then select it from the menu 7. Enjoy! Changelog: v0.1Alpha: Initial version. Background, Users, and power icons added, also test for custom cursor (appears to still be broken) added. v0.2Alpha: -Added settings, music, video, tv/video services, and network icons. -Modified Power icon's appearance to clean it up a bit. -Changed all Icons colorscale to purple to match theme. v0.3Alpha: -Added game icon and friends icon v0.4Alpha: -Added system update, game settings, bluray settings, music settings and chat settings icons -working on adding PSP support v0.5Alpha: - Added system settings, theme settings, time settings, accessory settings, and printer settings icon. Other Info: Will this mess up my PS3? No. Creating custom themes is completely supported by Sony, and they even offer guides on how to install and create them. It is completely safe to install. Are you going to make other themes? Possibly. Can I make a theme request? Possibly in the near future. Though keep in mind these take a long time to make, so I won't be doing a ton of requests, but I may accept commissions to make some. Where did you get the icons? I borrowed some of the border from the actual game and modified it myself, so more or less, they are custom made. Can I modify this theme? Yes, so long as I am accredited for my work. How do you make these? A full fledged tutorial would be tedious to explain, but here is the abridged version: I use a program for creating PS3 themes, which is free to download combined with photoshop, a cursor editor, a sound converter and more. There are a number of programs required to make PS3 themes in full, but there are a number of tutorials and guides online on how to make them. The annoying part is that the PS3 is VERY picky about file formats, sizes, etc. It has to be EXACTLY as the system wants it or it won't accept it. For example, the preview icon MUST be 64x64 saved as a 8bit png with 128 dither for web format. If it is ANYTHING slightly different from that, the program will return an error and won't accept it. It requires a lot of patience. Why are you posting this? To give my work away, and to sort of keep a record of my changes, so I can see my progress.
  18. I need this so bad! I hatttteee the Gummi ship achievements, I still haven't gotten all of them on Final Mix one yet!
  19. I own a PS3, PS2, Gamecube, Wii, Wii U, PSP, PS4, 3DS, DS Lite, and of course, PC. Honestly though I plan on holding onto my older consoles. For starters, the Wii is perfect for emulating SNES/MegaDrive/NES while creating the old experience of sitting on the couch with the controller (especially since I have the classic controller!); the PSP as we all know is great for emulating in general, and it's pretty hard to find a way to play those PS1 titles on the move, not to mention, I've clocked countless hours into Disgaea. I also have a DSTwo Flash card for my 3DS to emulate NDS games on it, so I am all stocked up when it comes to retro. At heart, I'll always be a retro guy, so having a good plethora of devices to either play natively or emulate is always up my ally. Yeah, I know my PC can emulate PS2 even without issues, but I just don't like being hunched in front of a computer screen to play my old console games. Oh and for those on the fence about the Wii U, I will say this: you can use the old homebrew channel on the Wii mode out of the box, adding emulator support, and since in Wii U mode it can play GBA and soon DS games, the idea of a homebrew channel getting put on the Wii U mode means we might be able to do DS games quite nicely on the Wii U.
  20. My desktop, no offense, but the site isn't exactly very mobile optimized.
  21. One can dream, but Square Enix will quickly step on those dreams and then murder your family, watch you cry then piss on you. Why can we never get anything good from the Chrono Trigger franchise!? The DS remake sold really well, and the original game is beloved. Come on, Square Enix, you keep complaining that every game that fans want would be "too expensive" (literally their excuse for not remaking 7) but something that is more or less promised cash is something you keep passing up on. Me thinks that Square Enix hates money.

  23. I definitely was not as thrilled about 1.5 in America that's for sure. I mean these numbers make sense for those places, but as it states above these are North American sales, so it kind of still doesn't make sense how Re:CoM and KH1 which definitely were not as loved as 2 and BBS sold more.
  24. I suppose you're right there, I guess the fact that people hadn't played it helped boost sales?
