The fiscal year in Japan runs from April 1st to March 31st. Either game could come out at opposite ends of the year.

As everyone's debating when precisely we are going to get a release date, I decided to do some investigating and find out when release dates were announced for KH games in the past. I found a very interesting pattern. Every single Kingdom Hearts game has had its Japanese release date announced no earlier than 2-4 months in advance. For instance, KH2's Japanese release date was announced in September 2005, less than 3 months before its release in December of the same year. Well, not much, but depending on your position, it could give us an idea on when exactly we can expect that revelation: If Square decides to stick to this pattern (and they may not; for all we know they could change their marketing strategy), then it's pretty likely we're not going to get it at D23 on Sunday. If you believe we will get a release date announcement at D23 in Tokyo, then theoretically, the game could come out as early as January 2016. If you believe the game won't come out until the end of 2016 at the earliest, then we probably won't get a final announcement until later next year. Once we get some more information on Sunday, then we should get a clearer picture, but I just thought this info would be interesting to share!

They're both main titles in two of Square's flagship series, and neither dented the sales of the other. For all we know, they could release at opposite ends of the year. Also, Japanese release dates for KH games are not announced until around 3-4 months before physical release. (In fact, DDDs Japanese release date was not even confirmed until 2 months before it got released in Japan) If we do indeed get a release date at D23 at Tokyo in November, then we could (don't want to get anyone's hopes up!) get the game as early as February next year.

Kingdom Hearts II was released less than 3 months before Final Fantasy XII in Japan.

I could be completely wrong about this, but I believe there are a few Disney fan sites that upload live streams of some the events, so we may be able to watch it live. Even if not, if a trailer is shown, then Square will most likely upload it to YouTube shortly after the presentation, like they did with E3 and D23 Japan 2013

Popularity of a movie or how successful it was doesn't necessarily dictate whether it will appear in Kingdom Hearts; Tron was considered a huge disappointment by Disney, and that didn't stop it from appearing in KH2. I'd argue there are more important factors that go into deciding what worlds to include than simply success; adaptability of the story, possibilities for combat, clear villain, party members, etc. We're running out of new worlds to include in the series, and the Black Cauldron has everything going for it in regards to those factors. If we can have a world based on a direct-to-video movie that not many people have ever seen (Country of the Musketeers), then a Black Cauldron world is entirely possible.

I very much doubt it. We may get a release window, but release dates for every game in the series have never been announced any earlier than 3-4 months before physical release. If we are getting a release date this year, then I'd expect them to announce it at either D23 in November, or Jump Festa in December. I'd say realistically, it's more likely we'll get a release window at one of these two events.

I desperately want Cedric the Sorcerer from Sofia the First in KH3 as a villain alongside Maleficent and Pete, but there's probably a 0.00001% chance of that ever happening! >_<

I would love to see Cedric the Sorcerer from Sofia the First appear in KH3 - either as a villain to accompany Maleficent and Pete, or even perhaps as Merlin's apprentice to replace the role of the Fairy Godmother as summon appraiser Considering the summon charms in KH2 look very similar to the Amulet of Avalor, I don't think that would be a bad idea, to be honest! ...Or maybe I'm just biased because Cedric is my favourite Disney character of all time! :tongue:

Release dates for Kingdom Hearts games are almost always announced no earlier than 3-4 before the game launches; it's possible that's the case with KH3 as well

The battle quotes are usually the last day of recording, because you can blow your vocal chords, so he's probably not recorded those yet

Hey folks, I was recently watching this Q&A at Florida Supercon July 2014 with Bill Farmer, the voice of Goofy, and he mentions in it that he's been recording lines for the 'third installment of the Kingdom Hearts series'. I know that a lot of people believed he was confused with 3D or the remixes when he mentioned it on Twitter, but the fact he specifically says 'third installment' is greatly reassuring to me. Add the fact that Haley Joel Osment believed voice acting would begin in the summer of 2014 at the earliest, and this is pretty convincing to me that voice acting has been in progress for at least a year. Square would never confirm it, even it it was true. Denial is never proof.

The voices heard in the video are way too convincing for it to be a fake. You can very clearly hear Sora and Master Xehanort (possibly Riku and YMX), and the dialogue is way too specific to have been taken from anything else and spliced together. The majority of people I've spoken to on YouTube, Gamefaqs etc. are convinced it's real on that basis alone. Exactly what event this was filmed at is anyone's guess, but I can surmise from the audio alone that an event definitely did happen; faking video and photoshopping pictures are one thing: but faking voice recordings? One would have to be extremely talented in order to pull that off; I don't buy it one bit.

How can you be so certain the trailer is fake?
