Because Sora is in a gang of people who like to concentrate on cards from different anime TV shows, and he happened to get Pokemon&It's symbolization about his mother, technically she's always with him (as he exists because of her and shares attributes), but at the same time he finds it extremely hard to see her, which is why he's concentrating on the card. She is the card, and no matter how hard he tries to see her, he can't. Because he ditched her back at the island.& the owner of the avatar loves symbolism, and is very philosophical, getting their degree in RMPS and the religious and philosophical arts, going on to study it and moving to India to become at peace with oneself.
