There's a novel and then I believe the audio is a sequel to the novel both are set up for a seemingly bigger story. It's not that bad I think one issue is a lot of people get the cliff notes version and nothing else

it also gets a little tricky sometimes when these characters can also have decades of history with dozens of writers for them, and a director wants to combine specific aspects and stories together

yeah sometimes you can only do so much. if the director is not open to those suggestions then you're screwed either way lol

Like the trunks are because of Corenswet, or there's a whole 10 minute video of him and Gunn arguing about a scene

Corenswet on the other than was able to shine because the script allowed him to and he was also allowed to just give thoughts or fight some ideas

Both Cavill and Corenswet knows Superman but Cavill was not able to get to shine in any way because the character was just written in a monotonous way

The last two big screen actors for Superman shows both versions and its kinda funny

Absolutely but that also only gets you so far

because they can also chime in and be like "hey this doesnt seem right" or "hey what if we tried this?" which often happens in these cases, mostly for the better

it should be the director/writer's job to know source material and adapt it properly to the point that actors are able to convey the right things through their work

Could it help? Sure. But that doesn't mean they have to.

All I said was that an actor doesn't need to read or watch the source material. An actors job is to act out the script they are given.
