With the first review of the English copy of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue now out and done by Game Informer, this means that now the game has been completed. In their review, Game Informer has confirmed that in Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep - A Fragmentary Passage-, once you complete the game in any mode, you will automatically unlock Critical Mode and you'll be able to replay the game on Critical Mode.

But dang, seriously, Critical Mode isn't available from the get go? That makes me sad! Dream Drop Distance suffered the same predicament when it came out! In order to unlock Critical Mode, I had to beat the game in Proud Mode! But hey, I don't mind, this is Kingdom Hearts! Just wish Critical Mode would be an option from the start! X3

I honestly was not expecting them to bother adding Critical Mode to 0.2, i was definitely expecting it in KH3, but this is a nice surprise! Ever since they first did Critical Mode in BBS i loved it. Its so much more of a challenge over Proud. Just one more reason to be excited for this release!

Considering the length of the game is only about 3-4 hours, the extra challenge is awesome.

Cool Challenge bro. If i only had PS4 also i´m not that hardcore to play it on critical.

So you just gotta basically beat the game just once on any mode to unlock Crit? Kinda sucks that you can't choose it from the start but glad to see it will be there!

I know, right? I am kinda bummed that it CM is not available from the get-go. I usually like to go for the hardest mode in the KH games when they get released lol. But whatever, at least now that I know a CM will be in KH 0.2 there will possibly be a "Zero EXP" ability for people like me who loves to play the games at Lvl 1 lol.

Well tbh Critical Mode in BBS was not really any different than Proud Mode difficulty-wise aside from maybe the damage output and how much damage enemies did to you early in-game as well as limited health bar. I'd say BBS has the easiest Critical Mode difficulty out of all the KH games. Everything felt so easy even when I played CM for the first time in that game lol. ANd yeah, was not expecting a CM difficulty to be in KH 0.2. That's really interesting and good news to hear.

That's right! Haha, you're an expert on Lvl. 1 playthroughs, so I'm sure you'll conquer 0.2 just fine!

 

But yeah, I dunno, this is something that shouldn't be handled like this. I wish Critical Mode was available from the start! But hey, this'll just make me wanna play the game again, and that's good and all, so hey, no probs!

 

I just hope Kingdom Hearts III has Critical Mode from the get go! Proud is just too easy for me!

I am planning to start on Beginner like I usually do so I can get a feel for the game then go up in difficulty slowly.
