I recently sold my PS4 earlier last month intending to get either the PS4 Slim or Pro when it was announced. But since then Nintendo have announced the Switch and with the strong 3rd party developers on board including Square Enix and being able to take home console games on the go, I'm seriously considering making the 'switch' to the Switch.

I rarely played on my PS4 buying the occasional casual game and I did'nt even complete one game on it this year so far. I feel having the Switch would peak my interest in gaming again with being able to take these games on the go as a big factor - even when someone wants to watch TV in the living room I can then switch devices and still play the game and talk to that person instead of having to go to my room to play it. Maybe people can relate to this but I think the reason I haven't gamed much this year is because I find it, and do get, very lonely through just playing games by myself and it makes me feel isolated. The Switch will take that away allowing me to get out of my bedroom and allowing me to talk to other people at the same time. So the console sounds very refreshing. But I know 2.8 and 3 is for the PS4 and not the Switch.

Please don't feel offended by this but people saying, "You need to play 2.8 it's so necessary." The thing is, I've played DDD on a 3DS already and with x Back Cover, someone will eventually upload the movie to YouTube and I can watch it on there. And since 0.2 BBS will be a few hours long, yes I'll be missing out on the gameplay but I can also watch the few hours of gameplay on YouTube too. I'm not saying it's not worth the £40/£50 but it doesn't seem 100% necessary to buy for myself; yes I know DDD is on a bigger screen in HD but I've already played it. As for KH3 there is signs it may come to the Switch with Square Enix as 3rd party developers and the Switch supporting the unreal engine but I also have my brothers old Xbox One in a dusty cupboard somewhere. I could always pull the Xbox out and play KH3 and FFXV on this when the time comes. However I've never really played with an Xbox controller so the controls will feel strange to me and possibly make the games less enjoyable.

So those are my reasons for the games and consoles. Taking all this into account should I buy another PS4 or the Switch? Personally after being able to reflect on writing this I think my heart is saying the Switch for my wellbeing with the console allowing me to game more socially on the go. But what do you guys think? Thanks for reading.

It's all personal preference. As long as you get to play the games you want to play, what console you get doesn't matter.

Hmmm...it really sounds like you're in for a tough choice. However, the opinion that I can offer to you is this. Perhaps wait it out a couple of months until more details come out about the Switch. When that happens if you like what's been said and seen about the Switch, then i'd say go for that. :) As Myth said above it's really just all preference.

You should base it on this: Will you truly be happy with your decision? And will you actually have fun gaming on whichever device you think you want?

I know that's rumours and speculation of Kingdom Hearts III coming to the Switch but until I hear official confirmation I would continue to assume KH3 is only coming to PS4 and XBONE. While the Switch looks great there could be many things that are a deterrent like poor battery life. If I were you, I'd wait for Switch to come out and see what people think of it and if it's not what you're expecting, the PS4 will likely be even cheaper or have really good deals.

If you want HD2.8 and KH3 and save money as well as space, get the PS4 Slim.

Nintendo Switch hands down. The Big N will always win in my book thanks to insane first party support and innovative ideas, which will keep them relevant and competing with PC if PS4 and Xbox One don't cut the "Specs War" crap out very soon.

PC. I can teach you the parts and what you'll need to do depending on what you want to gain and how pretty you want your experience.

Best part is, you can use it as a workstation and hook it up to your TV. Steam always offers discounts, and Steam Summer Sales are crazy. Controller options are vast (Steam controller, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Elite), the library is vast, SE is getting more and more friendly with PC, Emulators are a thing, and the catalog is much much larger than the current gen consoles, so there'll always be SOMETHING for everyone.

Search up some MMORPGs, Free to Play or paid, that you might like to play with your friends as well. PC is huge on that.

I understand your need for taking your game off the TV to socialize. For PC, there are two popular options: Windows 7-10 have a feature called "Remote Desktop", where you can over your internet or locally stream video and all processes from one PC and just inputs from another. If you already have a laptop, this comes at no extra charge, meaning if your laptop is at least decent enough to run remote desktop, and maybe your internet service is good enough to stream, you'll have minimal-lag gaming experience off your TV.

If you decide to get an NVIDIA GPU, you can use NVIDIA GameStream simply by downloading the application, sending yourself an invite, and playing on your Chrome browser via your laptop (if you have one)

A paid option, which costs a bit more, is the NVIDIA Sheild Portable or NVIDIA Sheild Tablet which again requires an NVIDIA GPU. The separate peripheral will allow you to take your games ANYWHERE with an internet connection, streamed straight from your PC. Don't worry if the game you want doesn't show up on the supported list - you can add it and configure your controller through NVIDIA Experience or Steam.

Is there any other game that interest's you beyond 2.8,KH3 and 15?Going just by early next year you have so many titles like Persona 5,Gravity rush 2,Nier Automata,Horizon zero dawn on top of the 7 remake and Ni no Kuni 2 at some point.

If most of these games don't interest you it's best just to get a switch.

I don't have a PS4 yet and was planning on getting one to get Final Fantasy XV, but I am seriously considering getting the Switch first.  There isn't much for the PS4 that I'm very interested in just yet, and as you and others have mentioned there's going to be many third party developers on the Switch that I'm highly interested in.  I'm also a huge Zelda fan and can't wait to get Breath of the Wild.

Maybe you could decide on getting both, but just stagger out both purchases?  Like, say, get the PS4 slim first, and them mid to late next year, once you hear from others on whether the Switch is good or not, you could consider purchasing it then?  The Switch also probably won't be as expensive if you wait a while after launch.

There's also this: how much did you enjoy your PS4?  Are you missing it greatly?  Would you regret not getting another one?  If you find yourself missing it a lot it's probably worth getting again.  If you hardly notice that it's gone, then it might not be a bad idea to just save up for the Switch.  It all really depends on how much enjoyment you anticipate getting out of each console, and if you want to try getting both and staggering them out to save up.

In the end I'm probably going to get both, but I most likely am going to get the Switch first.
