What does Xehanort mean with this sentence?

Posted

So I recently refinished Terra's story in KH BBS, and I noticed something: during the cutscene before the final fight Xehanort says : "I swore I would survive... and be there to see what awaited beyond the Keyblade War!"

Here's a video with the scene I'm talking about (go to around 5:52:10) :

Now... what does he mean? Am I misunderstanding or is he implying that he was living even before the keyblade war? This shouldn't be possible, since we know he grew up in the destiny islands. Am I missing something?

His old age is a huge weakness as seen how Terra easily kicks his ass despite him obviously being stronger and smarter his stamina is low. Because of this Terra was a perfect candidate as a new host someone filled with darkness and a strong body that could put him back into his prime.

Of course that doesn't exactly go to plan he even admits in DDD that he strayed from his true goal.

Nah, he just means he swore himself he would be alive to witness the Keyblade War. And since he got pretty old in BBS he chose Terra's body as his new body, so he has more time.

So he's talking about the second keyblade war, the one that will happen in KH3?

Yes exactly. He actually thought he would get the War in BBS, but since that failed he took Terra's body to survive the wait for the one in KH3.

Oooh I see, now it makes more sense. Thank you :D

You know, this sounds a lot like what Luxu said his duty was. His duty was to have fate take its course and the Keyblade War be fought and to see what lies beyond it.

Similar, but with one key difference. Xehanort wants to start a new Keyblade War, Luxu's orders where just to not interfere in the one that was already coming.

Yeah I remember that. That's what I find rather interesting.

A lot of people are thinking they're the same person because of the keyblade and that similarity, or at the very least Luxu was evil and the traitor, But after the lastest trailer, I don't think he's a bad guy. Something about the way he asked "what about the others? Makes him seem like he cares about them. But unlike Terra, his loyalty to his master outweighed his loyalty to his friends.

Yeah that seems so. Makes me looking forward to HD2.8 more.

I think that maybe Luxu is master xehanort. We know that Luxu's goal was to outlive everyone who would die in the keyblade war. Also re watching this scene I was wondering how would Xehanort know how to transfer his heart into another being? Could he have done it before? or could it have been Luxu who did it to Xehanort because needed a vessel that would have great darkness in them. LOL I could be pulling at strings here but this thought just came into my head.

He is actually talking about the BBS one. He took Terra's body when the x-blade was being forged. He didn't know it would fail though.

Well, by the time Birth By Sleep comes around, Xehanort has become pretty old! And as such, during his youth, he probably instructed himself in the ancient history of the Keyblade War, and then he got the ambition of wanting to witness a new one, ya know?  So that he could be able to witness what happens beyond it, ya know? :)

Dunno. I think he just meant he would survive to witness the next keyblade war, whenever it is. But I guess he could've also meant the BBS one, no idea when he realized it failed.

This is something I brought up before luxu was introduced. I believe luxu and xehanort have a connection. Its not farfetched that luxu transplanted his heart and got another life. Perhaps he transplanted his heart into young xehanort and is the reason he is who he is. The keyblade war is connected. If you think he was referring to the BBS war that ain't thinking outside the box. This series has do many references to future content. I assure you he was refering to khx

He didn't see or live during the first keyblade war,he only learnt about it from his Master which led him to try and recreate it but his old age is not helping hence he swore to survive and the only way to do so is by discarding his old body and possess a new one
