The story of Gifted is a prototype outline for a game I plan to create in the future. As a brainchild of sorts, I'm finally putting this story in the hands of the people — my awesome friends at KH13. I can't wait to see your characters, reactions, and everything in between! Thanks guys for participating or watching, and enjoy the show!
Everyone is unique in their own way. No matter how similar a trait may be, no two scientists think the same, no two singers sing the same, no two artists draw the same, and no two people are the same. Some say it is the Gift of the Heavens, passed down from their God or Goddess to each person, an imprint on a person spiritually. Others believe it is the natural Gift of the world - just like DNA and fingerprints, so too must this uniqueness be solely idiosyncratic.
What is a Gift?
Every person has something that makes them distinctly themselves. Their "Gift" reflects their personality and potential. Gifts are classified as one of two types:
Ingenium
A Gift that can range from absolutely anything that the person is particularly good at. Dancing, poetry, music, photography, martial arts, archery, fishing — almost anything you can imagine that you'd state “That person has talent” can be a Ingenium Gift. These Gifts are either meant to link to and enhance the personality of a person, or throw a curveball of what you'd expect a person to be like (for example, a person whose Ingenium had to deal with being able to persuade people during public speaking events is actually rather shy and timid). A Ingenium Gift must be very specific in nature. Even if the Ingenium Gift covers a ubiquitous range of artistry (a Jack-of-All-Trades), they must have a specific way of doing it. For a singer, perhaps, the person may be able to sing very well a certain type of genre of music. Or, a person may be able to sing a broader scope of music, but with their own flair.
Potentia
A Gift that represents a supernatural power. These can be magical or physical, from pyrokenesis to pure brute strength. The powers may or may not reflect anything about a person, but as a person grows, their Potentia Gift grows too. This is mostly attributed to the “experience” they've had, including quality of life or lack thereof, whether they've made good or bad choices, their obstacles and how they've overcome them, etc. A Potentia Gift then becomes more helpful or more destructive, and can often times lead people with ill intent to become consumed in their greed to evolve it into something disastrously destructive.
Everyone possesses both an Ingenium Gift and a Potentia Gift. Under special circumstances at birth, a person may obtain two Ingenium Gifts. Often times, however, this leads to a disability among said person.
Sectilis
The world of Sectilis is beautiful, vast and varied. The world consists of 37% water, 40% of which is directly drinkable, but thanks to certain advancements in science, all of the water in the world can be accessed. Four major continents span the land: Rinde, Lieth, Pollis, and Scient, each with a different backstory, culture, and general natural beauty.
Rinde is the first established continent on Sectilis. Full of trees, wildlife and untouched natural habitat, the Rinde continent is also the number one continent for exported natural resources. Rinde spans a beautiful culture, appreciated by religious and scientific minds alike, including waterfalls, rivers, coastal beaches, and rich islands. As much as Rinde is beautiful, it is also dangerous. Monsters and vicious animals prowl the night, tearing apart the unsuspecting person who trespass their territory. It is said that dragons inhabit a certain island on the land, and those who have tried to chart the land have never returned. Rapid waters have enough pressure to crush any creature that comes across it.
Lieth is a continent whose rough start and heavy endeavor reflect upon the fruits of labor. Lieth was a barren land, destitute and vast. At first, Lieth was uninhabitable by any creature other than sand monsters, who were competitive among one another to survive. However, through persistence, people built civilization among the land. It provided a new look to Lieth, a once barren land that became a mechanized world of artificial beauty that hosted monsters and animals alike. But the yet uninhabitable places on Lieth remained a grave danger, as the monsters who previously inhabited the land have resided in the habitat after millennia of adaptation… And they've grown even stronger.
Pollis, although considered a continent, is actually not a large land mass. Instead, it is the mass of islands clumped together across Sectilis. Scientists believe that the continent used to be just one land mass, but constant tremors shook these lands apart. Volcanoes, resorts, and tropical territory dot the islands of Pollis, yet each culture and set of natural resources is vastly different. While one island may bear beans and rice, for example, another is the perfect place to grow bananas. Therefore, there is a different taste of life in each and every place in Pollis.
Scient is an ancient and mysterious land, which beyond some tribes, is mostly uninhabited. The continent is littered with inexplicable phenomenon, powerful creatures, hieroglyphs, and ancient structures. Beyond science and religion, this continent is a world of wonder in and of itself.
Religious Belief
Those who believe in a God or Gods believe that they have blessed people with Gifts. The Gods’ Gifts are reminiscent of their calling in life, and in choosing to follow this calling, the Gods will eternally bless them.
The most common religious beliefs include
Belzivue
A religion in which a single God who has love for all whom believe in him. He blesses each and every child with the Gifts, given at birth and said to be cultured and ready to behold during the Ethereal Soaking. The Ethereal Soaking can occur at any age, but mostly when a child comes about an age of five, in which they begin what is called the “Ripening”. Those who come of age at 16-18, or the “Crescent Age” must then begin a pilgrimage to a sacred land, one of five places in the world said to host the holy God’s spirit, who will guide you to your calling and keep peace to the world. Those who follow the religion are known as “Belliths” of God, and those who do not are regarded, to these “Belliths” as “Boruths,” unholy and sinful people who do not walk the way of God.
Lillianth
A religion that involves multiple Gods who have each taken a liking to certain people. A certain person or family is said to have been blessed by a God. Under that God, they are instructed to do good, bad, or indifferent to please them, and that God will show mercy. “Lillianths” believe that one day, their God will descend upon the world and give them good fortune. Gods in this religion include:
Jesuit - The Savior of Time. In the War of the Gods, before the world was created, time was fought over. Time cultured everything; the evolution of the planets, the alignments of the stars —everything was influenced by time. Those who had power over Time had the most influence upon the universe, until the neutral God Jesuit heralded the World that the Gods would watch over. In it, time would be distributed equally, and the disastrous flow of the planets that the universe was in would keep the universe from crumbling. Jesuit was credited with creating the world and watching the over the Gods. Those who follow Jesuit are said to one day save the world.
Ino - The Maiden of Beauty. Ino believed that slow, simple cultivation created the most beautiful of things. Before the War, she desired for all in the universe to grow and react slowly and beautifully. Ino only blessed women, but these women were said to be among the most beautiful of the world. Their Gifts grew slowly and freely, and as time went on, they became much more powerful than the masses. In short, women who followed Ino are often both beautiful and powerful.
Infern - The Beseecher of Chaos. Infern recognizes the power that chaos and conflict bring. Infern wanted control over time in order to strengthen the universe. As meteors clashed and asteroids crumbled, he believed that the matter in the world would grow stronger as time passed. Those who follow Infern are said to have great bursts of power, and become rulers of political and militaristic endeavor. They are also quickly skilled at their craft.
Collian - The Sentinel of Order. Collian believes that the even flow of time will keep from disaster. Before the war, Collian wanted to protect the old order of time. Those who follow Collian are the protectors of the people, and hold their duty as those who keep that which disrupts at bay.
Detra - The Wanderer of Wisdom. Detra believes that time must be paced with new discovery. All that stays the same is irrelevant - but new discovery represented new answers, and new questions bred her mind to follow the will that discovery brought. Detra wanted time to herself as a tool that would help her not only discover new things, but revisit the old. Those who follow Detra are adventurous explorers, who seek power through knowledge about the world.
Croianth
A religion that bases Gods as spirits of nature. The Gifts are granted by each God based on certain rituals and offerings given to the God after birth. This offering promises a tie to said God based on what the offering is and where it is offered. Often times, this influences the person’s Gifts. Throughout the life of the person who follows beneath a God, that person will constantly encounter a certain talisman that represents them.
Common Gods include:
Traius - God of Plants
Stratus - Goddess of the Stars
Burius - God of the Soil
Hydrius - Goddess of the Water
Firius - Goddess of the Flame
Helius - God of the Air
Tartius - God of the Wild
Darlius - Goddess of the End
Although the Gods in Croianth have certain preferences, the people who believe in Croianth, or Croianthists, believe that it is important to recognize all the gods of nature in Sectilis. If the God was unsatisfied, they were believed to have caused natural disasters.
Science
Scientific feats are evolving, mostly on the continent of Lieth. Ways in which power can be enhanced, for example, or where medicine is improving are constantly being discovered. Science has created advanced weaponry (flaming blades and robotic arms come as more advanced structures) as well as common day-to-day necessities (cell phones that can project holograms and send "attachments", as packages through digital signals, and near-instantaneous transportation across Lieth).. Scientific theory also spans through Sectilis, including theory about the planet’s creation. Scientific paragons believe that the Planet grants people Gifts for various reasons, including environment, culture, and quite possibly the Planet's “health”. Scientists are unsure of how Sectilis in particular is being affected, but throughout research can develop a theory that the planet does have a sort of “well-being” or “health”.
Science outside of Lieth is far less typical, however. Rather than advanced tech, there are typical medieval and Rennaissance-like technology. Old fashioned swords, spears, guns, and daggers are the most common, crafted by blacksmiths. Although there are many blacksmiths, those with The Ingenium Gift are believed to be geniuses, albeit only few in the world. However, these weren't simply forged in the old way - these weapons are magically enhanced, thanks to the abundance of natural resources and those with a very specific Potentia Gift. There are also weapons believed to be divine scattered across Sectilis, according to those with religious beliefs.
Magic
Magic is a phenomenon that neither science nor religion explains very well. Extracts of the planet are found all over Sectilis, but Rinde by far has the most magical deposits in all of the charted parts of Sectilis. Gods and divine beings are said to hold the least aptitude for magic, with some only able to absorb and fire minor casts while others aren't compatible at all.
To be taught to weild Magic, people go to special masters who often have the Potentia Gift to weild and conjure their own magic. The person goes through rigorous environmental endurance tests guided by the masters, taught to recognize the magical deposits of Sectilis, and taught to craft magic before being taught how to use it. This training takes months to master, and often times, disciples decide to learn one branch of magic then rest before taking on another discipline. The sheer amount of effort is exhausting at best, and most times draining.
Known Magic from the Planet include Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Ice, Lightning, and Plasma, from easiest to weild and craft to hardest.
Species
Sectilis has a variety of species across the planet, but among the most intelligent are the Ryuh, Gin, and Toria.
Ryuh - Humanoid beings. They are the most adventurous and curious out of all the species, and also have the broadest range of knowledge. As such, human beliefs are varied, and have adapted to every habitat.
Gin - Giant beings. A very well versed species in power, brute force, and tactical intellect. This race is known for its survival ability and acute sense for tapping into the power of nature.
Toria - Animalistic beings. A species that is the most attune with nature. This species have a sixth sense, thanks to whatever animalistic trait they display. For example, a Panther-Tori may have more acute night vision along with a black tail or ears.
Other beings across Sectilis include:
Valkyrie - Sub-Divine beings. This species is said to have the closest connection to the Gods, whomever they were. According to legend, their power was just a fraction of the Gods, a power that could destroy an entire country. However, the Valkyrie's power was taxing; their power, although powerful at first, would want with time. Due to emotional distress and sacrifice, it was very rare that they could reach Ascension as minor Gods, but for as much power as they gained, they lost in humanity slowly.
Succubus - Devilish beings. Seductive and sexy females that tempt other species to preserve their life force. Although the Succubi are feared by the other species of Sectilis, they are actually an unfortunate species that has to rely on others to survive. The lifespan of a average Succubi without stimulation is only 3 years, but with a partner, the lifespan can extend to nearly 200 years. A single, primary partner can be formed with a Succubus in a process known as the "Eternia Pact". In turn for providing Stimulation for the Succubus, the Stimulator is granted a tie to the Succubus' life span, causing the Stimulator regardless of species to live a much longer lifespan than normal. The Succubi's Potentia Gift grows stronger with their lifespan extended as well. Succubi always have either a spiked or club-like tail.
Wildlife
Lieth
Heba - A poisonous reptile with the appearance of a salamander. Small and palm-sized, and very competitive of territory and mating.
Boutilis - Beautiful butterfly-like creatures whose clear wings refract light in a way that makes them glow in color. Serves no purpose but looking beautiful.
Kedi - Large tiger-like Liethan cats. Mainly found around Adatoire in a symbiotic relationship (adatoire provides, defense and moisture, and the Kedi protect them from predators), but may stray away from a group if a mother must give birth to kin, or due to lack of food.
Adatoire - Turtle-like amphibians whose shell is made out of the mass of hard rock. It creates and repairs its shell if a significant part of it has broken off by secreting a special gluey liquid. The liquid, after drying, allows the turtle to channel its glue throughout parts of the shell that need it or retract nutrients, like rain, into the turtle's back, like veins and arteries.
Tithl - A hybrid cat-wolf species, as large as 274.32 cm (9 ft) long, and 60 cm (2 feet) wide. Have powerful, sabre-like teeth, and incredible intelligence when hunting prey. Females are very competitive for territory, while males compete for the right to females.
The world of Sectilis is wondrous. You will be able to take part in it and shape your own future. Your choices will make who you are. As you discover the mystery of this wondrous world, you will encounter those with ill intent, fantastical beasts, heartbreak, and difficult choices. For whatever your calling in life, be it love, world domination, the will of your God, or curiosity, may your venture be fortunate.
Rules:
-Cursing is allowed, but really, don't get excessive about it.
-Romance is allowed and encouraged to an extent. You may add intimacy and even pervy comedy (like anime level), but please, not too much. If you have questions about what you can and can't add, please PM me with what you're attempting, and be sure to include the person you want to involve, if there is one, so that I know they're in approval.
-I will be enforcing a two-week posting limit. If you have gone a week and a half without posting, I will warn you. If you have gone two weeks without notifying me, the plot will move on, and I'll make sure to warn you again. If you do not post within a month without notice, your character will be taken control of and/or exited from the RP in whatever way makes sense. If you notify me after the two weeks are up, and have a circumstance in which you couldn't post before and/or can't post, I will take it into consideration, but please make sure to PM me. Anyone that knows me knows I'm very generous when it comes to situations, and if you find that you want to come back, I'll do my best to keep you up to date however possible. In the case that I have been two weeks late, I will excuse anyone since the time I've been gone too.
-No Godmodding. Again, I won't bark down your throat. A simple edit will have me satisfied.
-If you are confused or have any questions, please PM me (not chat). I'll gladly help you out.
-Don't be disrespectful to other RP'ers. This goes without saying, but I want everyone to have a bunch of fun.
-No posting limit. Get as free as you want - this is your story. If I want things to stay on course, I'll notify you.
-STORY HEADINGS (Optional for players, but to avoid confusion in the story, I will make these headers in every post.)

Author's Note
This is a prototype for the story of a video game I plan to begin development on. As such, I'd love feedback by RP'ers and non-RP'ers alike. To those watching and those playing, I'd really appreciate dialogue in the Sign Ups and Discussion. Hit me with constructive criticism, fire me with positive feedback, and don't hold back about anything you like or dislike about the RP.
I'll be running this RP very differently from most other RP's. I will have lots of player influence and I will even be willing to build a side story around a few characters at a time. In these side stories, you can explore your character more, go off with other RP'ers for romantic, expository, or training purposes. You will even be able to add in your own religion, Gods, scientific organizations, races, and other things. PM me if you're interested.
Good luck guys! I'll update the OP with my own character soon after making some edits!

Clouded Sun's Characters
Name: Solace Ardent ("Sol")
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Species: Ryuh
Appearance:
FACE:
Sol has dark hair that travels to the bottom of his chin in length and a strand is parted to the right of his face. He has a slight caramel complexion. Solace is slim, but toned in muscle and has silver eyes normally. He wears black boots studded at the shin, black jeans, a sleeveless dark blue jacket with a gear insignia and sleeveless black tank top, fingerless blue-and-black leather gloves, and a small diamond stud on his right ear.
Ingenium Gift: Adept at cooking. His cuisine shines through hot, exotic pastries and meaty meals.
Potentia Gift: Eyes of the Insomniac: Sol can change his physical ability in battle depending on the color of his eyes, which are silver otherwise. With each ability, however, comes a crippling side effect.
EMERALD: Able to jump higher and run faster, at the cost of physical frailty. He takes hits harder and deals them weaker. To escape some attacks, Sol can also dematerialize into green smoke for a maximum of 1.5 seconds at a time.
Background: Solace grew up a blind child. With scientific advancement reaching an all-time high during his birth in Lieth, scientists wondered if they could not only restore a person's lost body function, like eyesight or hearing, but if they could also implant a Potentia Gift into that person. This practice was considered highly unethical by religious followers and even other scientists in Lieth, but the operation went on anyway to restore the boy's sight. Days after the operation, the laboratory disappeared.
As he grew, Solace began to strangely be much more athletic than his peers, and his eyes would become green whenever playing with other kids at around 10 unconsciously. Over the years, however, Sol has become able to control his Potentia Gift by 16.
Personality: Sol is expressive, but it's hard for him to articulate exactly how he feels. He sometimes makes decisions in the spur of the moment, and often times thinks in the spur of the moment. Solace grew hating responsibility and especially being left in the dark, yet, his basic goodness is always intact.
Weapon, if any: The Ring: Not having a Gift for engineering discouraged Sol a bit, and he came up with many failed experiments despite constant hard work. His only successful creation is The Ring, a brilliant, seemingly unbrilliant piece of jewelry able to emulate the atomic structure of a weapon and create a physical, cyan-glowing 3D replica of it. The Ring is very unstable, however, so after 30 minutes of use, it overheats and the replica shatters until The Ring cools.
Religion, if any: Agnostic. He has... reasons.
Other important info:
-Although his Gift is cooking, he loves to mess around with mechanics. Sadly, his only successful creation is the highly unstable Ring.
-Sol suffers from depression sometimes, where he feels he's not "good enough." He doesn't show it, but instead masks this in his work.
-Sol has vivid dreams and wicked nightmares. An abrupt wake up is not out of the norm.
Character Theme, if any:
Name: Raven Astra
Age: 20

Appearance:
Supporting characters
Elise Waltz
Appearance:
Background: An extroverted fashionista. Loves style, has a huge smile, and apparently has some history with Sol... She grew up with Sol in Kalace. Apparently has some tax troubles.
Ingenium Gift: Has an obvious whim for fashion and interior design with a modern flair.
Currently resides in: Corbenik, Lieth, Nox Poetis Hotel
Prune and Bruce
Prune:
Bruce:
Background: No Brawns and no brain, these two are the duo that policed downtown Kalace. Every day's a new adventure, but nothing will stop them from taking the baddies out and stopping them from trying to take over the world!
Currently resides in: Corbenik, Lieth.
