This theory was thought up by yours truly. And like the title says, could Vanitas have been Xehanort's 13th Vessel? Would love to know all your thoughts and if you're feeling extra generous, you could support me too

Vanitas is not the 13th vessel, but only an established one. Most probably, the 13th vessel is Lea.

I believe Vanitas will be the thirteenth darkness. He isn't one now, but Master Xehanort will make him one I believe in KH3.

I don't believe Vanitas is the 13th seeker of darkness, but I believe he's one of them.

 

Also, you can't tell me they put Vanitas in DDD briefly for no reason. I took that as foreshadowing.

Not only is that hinted in the 0.2 opening, but with the importance of Xehanort finding Ventus after the events of Birth by Sleep, I feel as though Aqua having to save both Terra and Ventus makes her stakes as a Guardian of Light even larger!

I agree with this 100%  Vanitas is most likely a SoD, but not the 13th one.  However, Ventus is definitly an option.  Having his heart inside Sora, Ventus's body is just sitting in Castle Oblivion completely defenseless.  It would be perfectly easy for Xehanort to possess it since he'd have no opposition from Ventus (unlike Terra).  Plus, it'd be super interesting for Aqua to not only have to save Terra, but Ven too!  Like you said, it makes the stakes so much larger, and thus more thrilling.  (Plus, maybe it'll mean that Roxas and/or Xion will take Ven's place as a GoL and give them a role in this whole thing, since they're most likely coming back)

Vanitas is definitely a SoD but i dont think it matters what number he is, as of right now the confirmed seekers of darkness are Xehanort (duh), Ansem, Xemnas, Young Xehanort, Vanitas, Saix, Braig or Xigbar, and "Terranort"

 

Thats 8 somewhat cofirmed as of now, in kh3 its most likely well see new faces for the rest of the seekers or Xehanort is gonna pull some major plot twist where idk firetruckin Kairi is turned into a SoD lol jk but who knows
