During an interview with Oprah today, J.K. Rowling stated that she does not have plans for an 8th Harry Potter book, but she said that she won't say that there won't be one.

So basically, she's thinking about writing it!

YES! That would be soooo awesome but then again HOW would they top Harry Potter 7?

Oh great, another two hour long rant by my friend on how I don't really like harry potter.

Yes, I don't like HP, for me its a bit too slow. Ever since the 5th book came out my friend who is obsessed with it ask me if I will get the new book. As always I say now and she proceeds to whine about it for two hours.

I love Harry Potter, but I don't really see the point in having an eighth book. I mean, what conflict is there to solve? The series is over, so it should stay over, imo.

Awesome. I was looking forward to a Harry Potter 8 (even though it seemed unlikely that there would be one) but now this thread gives me more hopes :)

i like the harry potter books (much prefer the films), but an 8th would be pointless.

i like what yu-gi-oh did and put a few random series in with sub-plots and it was still really good (cmon makers of Avatar TLA, i want more!!!!!), but it wouldn't work in a book very well

I kinda hope she doesn't, the Deathly Hallows was an adequate ending, but she needed Hogwarts as the same plot catalyst there as in the first 6 books to effectively tell the story the same way. Especially if you noticed Hogwarts is really interlinked with the story a lot

It wouldn't really bother me either way...

I was too little to even understand when the movies came out. The only one I even sort of remember or understand was the second, where the big spiders came. I started screaming and crying in the theater, and my aunt had to carry me outside, because I was too afraid to go back in. xD

What if this book wasn't a direct sequel to HP7's plot?

What if it were a prequel? I was thinking J.K. would write a book about James Potter's adventures in Hogwarts.

Or, she could write a book about Harry's son.

If she wrote a prequel about James, I think I'd puke. srsly.

O_O Okay..not good.

Well, I just hope that she writes SOMETHING, even if it is not a book, that further explains what happened in the 19 years after Harry killed Voldemort.

I never read Harry Potter. I wasn't obligated to. So I didn't.

So? Sue me...

I never read them, and I probably never will unless I need something to read... which I don't, cause I'm sure that there are far better books out there.

That would be cool but why? I mean It would probably be somewhat good, but idk. I love James, Sirius and Lupin. But I don't think Rowling should make a 8th Harry Potter book, if it was of James, Sirius and Lupin...it wouldn't really be Harry Potter would it? I love the books, but I don't think I'll buy any one. I don't know. Maybe if she does write a new one, it'll be good.

lol my cousin did the same thing when we saw that movie on the theatre!

I just closed my eyes :P

I don't see how an eighth book is possible, unless

Voldemort continues to live on through Harry's kids or something like that.

(that one came out in 2002, right?)

I was about five-ish...

I thought they were real xD

That's what terrified me xD

@ JF. Yeah, you're right. A book about James wouldn't make it "Harry Potter"

@Tricia The 8th book possibly could be a follow-up. J.K. was supposed to be writing an encyclopedia about all of the stuff in Harry Potter, including the stuff that happens after the epilogue. I'm guessing that if she does write an 8th book, it would explain more details about Harry's, Ron's, and Hermoine's life after Voldemort's death.

i wouldnt mind a prequel about the marauders, how they met, etc. maybe not a long book, but yknow.

and a sequel could have a completely different plot than the others, not involving voldemort at all. idk. i think she should write a sequel with the young'ns because i love teddy and i want to marry him and make babies with him wut

so basically maybe not a 'harry potter' book, but a sequel-- as in, not in the series and not really involving harry potter so much anymore as the main main character.

I swear to god, 1 page into the first harry potter book and I was asleep.

The movies are better idk why.

But I've lost interest. An prequel would be nice though.

If they made it into a movie/shot

the books were so much better than the movies lol. theres so much invisible foreshadowing it kills me with awesome everytime i read them.

A prequel would be nice I guess. But I would also like to read what would happen to Harry's, Ron's, and Herminoe's kids

I guess it would be kinda nice to see How their kids grow up etc. But isn't that what fan fiction stories are for?

Lol The first book was pretty boring. I really can't read the first two without trying to kill myself the whole time. The third one was..idk. I like the rest of the books though. The movies, to me anyway were totally horrible. Only the first two movies were somewhat close to the books and I hated those two books.. ._.

I still want to see the last movie though. lol
