Kingdom Hearts series' music ranking has fallen behind at Classic FM's Hall of Fame 2017

This year's Hall of Fame hosted by Classic FM has come to a close and the results from the polls are in. Kingdom Hearts, including "The Other Promise" composed by Yoko Shimomura, has ranked #119 out of 300 this year. This is still impressive for the Kingdom Hearts series, though its ranking is significantly lower than it had been in previous years. In Hall of Fame 2016 Kingdom Hearts ranked no. 31, while in 2015 the series ranked no. 30.

 

Other musical compositions that have been showcased in the Kingdom Hearts series have also made it into the top 300 list for Hall of Fame 2017, including the following:

• "A Night on the Bare Mountain" ranked at no. 269
• "Pirates of the Carribean: Curse of the Black Pearl" ranked at no. 206
• "Final Fantasy Series (including One-Winged Angel)" ranked at no. 49
• "Nutcracker" ranked at no. 34
• "Symphony no. 6 in F Major Op.68 (Pastoral)" ranked at no. 7

Congratulations are in order to Yoko Shimomura and her success in making Classic FM's Hall of Fame list once more! May she have continued success in the Kingdom Hearts franchise and the entirety of her musical career.

Correct me if i am wrong but are a lot of these songs that are ranked so high not already existing ones? Should game music not be original composed? I mean it sounds like Cheating if you ise music from the nutcracker and get this high up. All a game creater has to do to get on this list is to use music from mozart

 

Nonetheless kh music is still amazing and it deserves to be on the list

You are correct: the other songs listed are existing musical pieces that were played in Kingdom Hearts.  They are not being considered video game music, but instead the original pieces that they are.  Classic FM features classical music in general and is not limited to video games, so it was indeed the Nutcracker itself that scored so high, not its appearance in any game.  That's why it's pretty impressive that Kingdom Hearts made it as high as it did, to be honest, considering this poll was for all classical music in general, not video game specific.

I'm glad to see that Star Wars made it so high, that was my #1 choice! Didn't vote since it wouldn't let me, but it was still what I wanted to see. It definitely deserved higher though. I'm disappointed that Rogue One didn't even make it in the top 300 though... Don't remember what my third choice would have been.

Well, the important thing to take from here is that Kingdom Hearts is still going strong on the list of Classic Fms Hall Of Fame! And even should it fall behind, I will always love Shimomura's work, as her musical pieces are awe inspiring!
