Remember when that Sly Cooper movie was teased all the way back in the ancient year of 2014? Well either that is still on the fence or it has been broken down and rebuilt as this upcoming animated series by Sony and Technicolor Animation Productions. No details on a release date nor for voice cast roles are available at this time.

 

Here's what we know about the show so far:

 

The series will follow Sly Cooper and his two best friends, the muscular hippo Murray and the intelligent turtle Bentley, as they steal and try to save Sly's city while being on the run from Inspector Carmelita Fox.

 

The show will also feature a few of Sly Cooper's villains and promises to retain the franchise's blend of action and humor. No release date for the show has been set yet and there are no details regarding the voice cast.

 

Also, by word of Sandrine Nguyen, Managing Director, Technicolor Animation Productions:

 

There is no doubt that teenagers will be happy to rediscover their beloved game as a series, while younger kids will be charmed by the debonair raccoon and his exciting universe.

 

I, for one, was hooked the minute I read that this would be handled by Technicolor because they are the same team behind the Sonic Boom cartoon, and if this is anything like the Sonic Boom cartoon (which is insanely funny and entertaining and I recommend both fans of Sonic and cartoons in general to check it out), it will be a sure-fire hit that will hopefully breed interest for even more Sly stuff in the future. We do still need a Sly 5 after all. Fingers crossed.  :wacko:

Huh, I never knew that Sly had faded away from popularity. I always assumed that the next sequel was just being kept under wraps!

 

So, a cartoon, eh? That's pretty awesome! I'm sure that it'll boost Sly back up into popularity, and then it won't be long till a fifth Sly is announced!

Eh, I worded that kinda weird in the first iteration of the post, so ignore that. A franchise can't be waning in popularity if it hasn't even had a full game in three years.

 

Still, more Sly stuff is still a good thing.

I really can't wait! I'd much rather have Sly 5, but I'll be happy to see a show too, especially since they said they're aiming it at fans of the original games along with kids!

It's been said that there are no plans for a Sly 5, so odds are that the series could have just ended off on the cliffhanger ending 4 had if this cartoon wasn't being made. Sucker Punch stopped caring about it after 3, Sanzaru got the rights and made 4, and now they don't want to make a fifth. Hopefully this can get popular and make them change their minds.

Oh this is sweet news! If this cartoon does well, the Sly Cooper series may make its triumphant return. It's well overdue.

First a failed movie, now a cartoon? I just want another game!

I haven't gotten around to watching all the Sonic Boom episodes, but from what I have seen the show was way better than the games. So since it's the same company, I have high hopes for this Sly show, however I do want to stay optimistic about it since I don't want it to end up being bad. If this is a way to take Sly and give him more life, then I hope it does a good job. The movie never happened, and I don't even know if I want it to anymore, so at least we have the show to give more Sly adventures out there. I just hope this show does well and Sony thinks "Hey, let's make Sly 5 already!"

A series is in my opinion always better than a movie it gives the creators more time to develop characters, most video game movies fail because they cant put in everything that would make the movie awesome in the same way as the game

As I mentioned, this cartoon could possibly be an indicator of Sony "testing the waters" so to speak for interest in new Sly properties. This is not a sure thing obviously, but whether or not that is their intention, and whether or not Sucker Punch/Sanzaru has any plans and/or intention to make a new Sly game, this still still prove well to get Sly some much needed buzz.

 

But yeah, we need Sly 5 because Thieves in Time's secret ending was too much for all of us to handle without possibility of a follow-up pls help us based Sanzaru

Well, I find it weird that even though Sly 4 was well received, Sanzaru doesn't seem too keen on making another entry. And if they didn't plan on doing another one, then they shouldn't have left the 4th one on a cliffhanger ending! But well, let's see how this cartoon series fares!

Well, with a series, it can definitely be a means of seeing if a property still has great profit going for it, ya know? What I'm curious about is that if this show is a hit, will they keep on doing it?
