Dissidia NT disappointed me massively

Featured Replies

I agree, I tried getting hyped for it since the Arcade announcement... I haven't bought the game and don't see myself buying it in the future (if I wanna play FF characters in fighting games, I'll just stick to Tekken and Smash where they did it right). The combat looks so slow and everything is just so far away and small. And no local multiplayer kills the game.

I don't even have a PS+ subscription, so I can't play online. Even if I could, I'm not sure I'd have much fun with it. You have to grind individual characters to max level just to unlock all of their HP attacks, and that's just stupid to me because I want to try everything, not level-grind every character. People will say that you just use who you're good with, but why do I have to start from scratch to find a new character I might be good with? I almost feel like they shouldn't have included the offline modes if the majority of the game is centered around online play.

I foolishly pre-ordered it and, yeah, it sucks pretty bad. The story isn’t all that interesting, either. Honestly, they should have just remade the PSP games for the PS4 and been done with it.

Okay...So I played the original PSP titles and they were great and all, but did nobody seriously follow the arcade game that's been out in Japan for 3 years? I know it was talked about a lot here, but people can easily miss it. I knew what I was getting into with Dissidia NT and I never once hoped it would be like the PSP titles. What we got was what I expected, as I knew about the Arcade game. Pretty sad this is getting the short end of the stick here because it was highly successful in the arcades in Japan and everyone was begging for it to be put on the PS4.

Here is the thing, watching the game and actually playing it are totally two different things and even then there were problems with the gameplay back then

Secondly, just because you're porting an arcade game doesn't mean the game has the excuse to be bare bones.....it's why arcade fighters like Blazblue and Tekken add additional modes when they jump from arcades to consoles

This game doesn't even have practice mode or local multiplayer even when other arena fighters had it

And you can only use ONE HP attack at a time which is dumb and massively limit the potential for combos

Sure I might want Meteo on Cloud for ranged options when I can't get close but I can't tell you how many times I set up a wall combo into Cross slash.......only to realize I don't have cross slash on me cuz my muscle memory is so used to the originals when I had more than one HP attack

It's really bad that the $60 console game is worse than the Free-to-play mobile game.

You know, I really wanted to get NT, but everything I've read about people saying how bad it is really discouraged me from getting it!

I've been a fan of the Dissidia franchise since the first one released, and Duodecim forever became my favorite! I logged like 500+ hours into Duodecim, it was that fun and addicting! But the thing here is that NT seems to have even less content that either of the two installments, ya know? And that saddens me greatly, especially since Dissidia is such fun to play!

I can only hope that further down along the line, Square releases a complete edition of the game with any new modes that would be integrated into the game, along with all the characters and whatnot, ya know? Oh, and I hope that a one vs. one mode is integrated as well, and then I'll buy the game, ya know?

In the meantime, I'll enjoy myself with Opera Omnia, which is damn good! :D

I should give Opera Omnia a chance as that looked legitimately exciting despite my dislike for mobile gaming

I'm not a fan of mobile gaming myself. The only mobile games I have are on my iPad, and those are Kingdom Rush and it's sequel, which is Frontiers, Kingdom Hearts Union X and Dissida Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia! I'm more of a console and handheld gamer myself, but those four mobile games are ones I thoroughly enjoy!

But back to Opera Omnia, I find you will enjoy that game deeply! It incorporates old school, turn based FF gameplay, but with a twist! You got bravery breaks and wall crushes, and those elements play into the turn based system and give the game a mix of old school FF with that modern Dissidia touch! The story is pretty cool, and there's tons of references to the journeys the characters have gone through in their respective games, and omg, the character roster is amazing, with more being added every month! I think that this Dissidia will easily get past 100 characters! I'm sure you'd take a liking to the game! It even has normal FF enemies like Goblins, Flans and the like in addition to the staple Manikins that the Dissidia series is known for!

So yeah, I think you'll dig Opera Omnia! :)
