Practically all of the intermission scenes pre arendelle are essentially just the characters going over things we've already known as fans

And Riku is never like "oh, that's Terra possessed by Xehanort!"

Aqua standing stock still while Ven gets bodied twice

Excellent cutscene direction

Thing is tho, the new players having such a small amount of information won't help them in any meaningful way whatsoever

So it's useless to them and it's annoying as hell for the fans

Well, now they know that Terra is possessed for Xehanort

youd think she would go : "Master Yen Sid and Mickey, I may have information on where Terra is. He's currently possessed By Xenanort."

But nope

Which is just information

Nothing is done with that info

Now they just know

"Oh hey, I know who this character is"

Which means nothing because Xehanort is never built up as a serious threat to Sora within the game

"Oh God, what the hell is that dark monster behind him"

instead the gang are all shocked they saw terranort

"Oh God, what's happening"

I still don't understand why Xehanort didn't appear to Sora at all before KBG

KH3 was very light on the KH elements of the franchise

Disney made sure kh3 is more disney oriented than original story

There are two ways you can connect the protagonist and the antagonist: emotionally and/or ideologically

There is also a much weaker one, which is... none at all

I feel like they copped out on KH3

honestly Riku has more of a beef with with Xehanort than Sora does

So, the emotional would be that Xehanort screwed with all his friends... except all of them are saved before the battle
