In KH2 the heartless in the immediate vicinity are real, but everything else is props

^

They "spawn in" when you get near them

Which is how KH3 did it too

Yeah, but they made the props believable to be real heartless

Except the shadows are fake all the time, I'll give you that

Music is the exact same

They reused sinister shadows

Which is a thumbs down in my book

are we talking the thousand heartless in kh3?

i hated it

I would have preferred a remix of sinister shadows than the exact reuse for sure

it was nostalgia bait, and not good bait at all

But, eh

Thing is there was little lead up to it

If it was an isolated case I wouldn't mind but there are a lot of reuses

wrong quid

Hollow bastion was established in KH2 from the get go as having heartless trouble, it's like one of the first things Sora does; protect the bailey

there was inconsequential cutscenes before it

But mechanically I don't have any problem with KH3's, the problems are more on the narrative level. In KH2 it was a great setpiece where Sora had to take 1000 heartless out by himself. No Donald to cure you, no Goofy to help you with attacks, it was a test of your strength.

The placement in the story is also fundamental, serving as a good break between two major plot reveals. On a more subjective note, it also happened in my favorite world in the series, and the music was exceptional, with the battle having its own theme.

In KH3 we have the same theme, not even a remixed one. The battle comes right after a baffling repeat of the Terranort cutscene, and the battle feels repetitive due to not placing you into a different situation than normal, but just being more of what KH3 had done throught the entire game: mob fights with many enemies. No Reaction Commands to mow them down, just the same transformations you had used throught the game

In short, in KH2 it felt like a change of pace, while in KH3 it feels like more of the same

One correction, it comes before

It happens before Terranort

Just pointing out, it comes bef-

lmao

Devils wave is after

but yes the rest of that

I understand
