KH3 is the game that was pushed around far too much until it fell under the weight of strict stipulations

Engine change, Square hogging resources, Disney being stingy, having to conclude so many plot threads, setting up future events, tight schedules, and keeping up to the series traditions (this last one was definitely not accomplished)

As soon as the engine changed happened square should have given it an extra year

KH3 wasn't delayed because of dev issues

It kinda reminds me of the development process of Sonic games in a way

We all know that

Ahahha ohno, now I'm a fan of two horrifically developed franchises

Creative developers coming up with great ideas only for the higher ups to force them to compromise due to budget and time limitations until the end product is merely a shadow of what was meant to be

And squeenix's legendary business practices

What a perfect storm

But KH3 got through its hell mostly safe

It's aughhh it's a fine standalone game, great even

Props for making a working game having to deal with all that Square

They should go back to using older properties for the films, these modern ones just aren't worth the hassle

KH1 had a good mix of film ages

There were ones that were pretty recent like hercules and tarzan, there were a couple of renaissance ones (aladdin and little mermaid) and some older stuff - Alice in wonderland, pinnocchio. Then you've got the odd but welcomed inclusion of nightmare before christmas

KH3 I don't think has quite the variation

Recent - Tangled, Frozen, Big hero six,
Live action - Pirates
90s/00s - monsters Inc, Toy Story, Hercules
Older - Winnie the Pooh

I would say that's a good variation

Both in therms of when they came out and what kind of places they are

Winnie the Pooh is the oldest thing and it's miniscule

So otherwise it's Toy Story at 1995

Yeah, but then you gotta remember that they went with 3D movies only, except for Hercules and Winnie

So it really is a nice variation from the movies they chose

I'd say it's very safe, I guess. And I understand why. They wanted it to bring in people

The higher ups definitely ran with the opportunity of a console KH game

It's especially obvious where they had their attention dedicated too when you see all the recapping involved in KH3

bc the sales are apparently only 10-15%

They must have known it wouldn't be so popular on there but they did it anyway. Maybe again, to try and expand its reach
I don't think they would ditch it in future

What were the sales on xbox?

I feel like if it's low, then they are ditching it

I think I saw HMK put it well.. Money is money, so xbox likely isn't going to be dumped, no matter how miniscule

i think the last time i checked the sales, it were 8 million sales i guess

Ehh, if they made a bunch of xbox copies that never got sold, then it's a waste of time and money

But I don't know how many they shipped and how many got sold

So can't say what happened there
