I've wondered a lot what the jp fanbase think, like do they have the same criticisms and a similar split

I heard its basically the same

I think they do, to some extent

I certainly think they have problems with the plot and the conclusion aspect falling short

japan has more criticism about the story apparently, bc they have no speedrunners who talk about the combat

I think it's because Japan has a lot of anime and manga and such and since they have a lot of content that appeals to the lowest common denominator demographic, they appreciate stories that go beyond and offer a lot more than just the basics, either by having tight pacing, complex character interactions and dynamics, and a good interweaving of theme and storytelling, with maybe a tiny bit of fanservice.

Guess what KH3 didn't have.

We have a lot of common denominator shit here too, I guess this is why jrpgs are so valued

Because there all the stuff we consider weeb is the standard, so they appreciate stories that go beyong weeb tropes due to the oversaturation of it
