at leat we got Black Knight to make up for shitty rings

Black Knight actually had a decent story in the first half and an awesome story in the second half

it's a really super good story. it's my favorite arc in the archie series!

Probably one of the best stories of the dark age and a better story than every game after it

this line made me want to end his fight as fast as possible

Yeah, it was awesome

And Merlina was actually a very nice villain, her motivations made sense and you could understand where she was coming from perfectly

She comes off so cute and supportive and then BAM

villain

But still sided with Sonic because he rightfully put the immediatist side before the nebulous long term one

The story wasn't afraid to take itself seriously and was willing to have themes and a narrative that built up towards a climax right after a great plotwist that came after a false early climax

That's still crazy to me

on top of that

all the other sonic characters fit in so well and dont come off as awkward inserts

amy being the lady of the lake

knuckles, blaze, and shadow being the knights of the round

tails as your blacksmith

Tails' Believe in Myself remix for his Blacksmith shop was so amazing

actually sad we didnt get a third storybook game

And yeah, all the characters feel well established and natural

tails SA2 version of "Believe in myself" is the worst version of his theme to me

Probably because they were conceived as actual functioning entities on the world they were inhabiting instead of internet memes that wasted screentime
