X had a actual open world it was huge and like halfway or pretty far to the game you gained a license to use a Mech and this huge World while it feels smaller afterward it's kind of like progress because in the beginning you're a tiny human running around and everything can kill you and you're slowly overcoming the world and now you're flying all over it taking down the biggest of Beasts

Xenoblade 1 and 2 have open world but it's like a linear open world if that makes any sense
