i will say the "strand" system was fun
i liked finding random ladders across the place, and then feeling like I was part of a community in leaving random ladders or whatever else anywhere else.
Kinda lost all its impact though after I made like 4 bridge segments from scratch all on my own though since nobody else seemed to care about them.

But the game was just a repetitive mess. Walk here, walk there. You walk here but then it starts to rain and then youre stuff takes damage, unless you used 90% of your space to hold repair-canisters, which even when they ran out you still held onto them because they could be recycled.
Then there were all of the random encounters with the shadow people that just happened, only making it frustrating as your baby cried and your gear took more and more damage, and if you slipped up once everything was pretty much just gone, unless you took up another 90% of your storage space for blood guns then you could just go through and kill all the shadow people, all while trying to raise your ranks with random ass people across the land, who for some reason never give you enough likes to raise you up to the next level.

It's a game of minor to moderate inconveniences.
The story is so slow in anything happening, and whatever story there was just wasn't worth it. There was no payoff, the sense of community it strived for was weak, and its storytelling was obscure, vague, and lame.

You have to paralyze those people each time whenever you want to enter the raider camps, because if you just kill them, you have to go on a whole journey throughout all of those inconveniences to make it so it doesn't literally destroy your map

and the people you deliver stuff for are just artificial means to make the game longer, and it's just shameless about it

the whole game is based around that "Strand" system, but it wasn't worth it.
Plus, any semblance of challenge with navigating the terrain was wasted. If you crouched, everything was fine. You just didn't fall

I mean you're not necessarily wrong but that sounds like fun more than tedium to me personally I think I just find tedium enjoyable I loved running around everywhere and i cant wait to play it agian

Strand type gameplay will likely never catch on ever

it's a diluted form of like harvest moon or animal crossing. You put effort into something repetitively, but theres no payoff. You get a hologram that says thanks, and thats that.
at least in games like stardew valley, you can sell your crops and make a profit

My biggest issue with it as a game is that it just didn’t look that fun in it’s combat, I mean I get every game doesn’t have to always feel so superb to play but with how 90% of it is gonna be tediousness it feels like there should be some kinda relief in having a good sense of enjoyment in combat

Like as a story it could’ve just been told in another medium

combat was average to me, tbh. Just a lot of making people fall over

And something like crouching get around easier it would be much much slower and it sounds just as bad of an argument as people who say the kupo coin that they have to use it

Personally I don't really understand that the it's there so you have to use that idea that just makes absolutely no sense to me

but the kupo coin isn't given to you. Crouching is just an inherent gameplay feature, like most games seem to have a crouch

I mean you can Crouch you can also play the game blindfolded

and it doesn't slow you down at all, cause you can crouch and run

It's still overall faster to use vehicles and other stuff but that is an option

I can understand why people don't like it though it's very much a game that you hate or love

yeah I can use a vehicle
then it starts to rain
And then the shadow people come
and then I have to abandon the vehicle to sneak through

i have to crouch to stay quiet

You have several ways of dealing with them also you can do the sneaking your way through that's one sometimes

And now whether you find that fun or not is a different

The gameplay is okay but the story left an absolute garbage taste in my mouth I never want to play it again

mgsv was a game
idk, I feel like it could've been more. I feel like V was a good base

But if a story is lets me down that much I cant enjoy the game play at all

If you treated as a standalone game at work's decently but if you treated as a metal gear game it's really gets bad personally I think
