The reason why they allowed PS4 and PC crossplay is likely because it was before crossplay was put into the public eye

Once it was in the public eye, they said no

And years prior, when there was a chance for crossplay, back in the last gen, MS was the one to say no to it

Yeah.. I can see MS trying to continue playing nice and being friendly to Nintendo, giving them their games, evne(Like Cuphead or recently, Hellblade)
