Did you restart your computer after making sure it was up-to-date?

It should be fine unless the requirements say you need otherwise.

DirectX is the main plug in that all games on windows use

10 is obviously more recent and more supported, but a P.I.A.

FFXIV might need DirectX 11 iirc

Nope

Unless there is some compatibility setting with it

Win 8 might be able to run DX11

But you'll have to do a search or two to see how your computer handles that

Sadly of all the development I've done games isn't one of them so I kinda don't know much
