You have to be in some form of education 2 years after 16 though, but something like an apprenticeship counts

The law did change recently to say everyone needed to be in education until 18,but if you don't want to no one will stop you. There's nothing they can really do and no strict records are kept like the ones in school

Huh really?

Hmm

Technically you can drop out at 16 but hardly anybody drops out

Yeah, I know a ton of people who went to sixth form for a week and then dropped out

<- 24 years old and still a student 4Head :linkusAYAYA:

And frankly, schools need to stop focusing on college/career readiness

Maybe it changed now? My year was the first year when the law changed, so I guess nothing was really in place to check up on truants like they do in school

It’s doing more harm than good

Yeah these days, individual teachers definitely push the apprenticeship route than uni, although the main message is "go to uni"

if you got your a-levels apprenticeship is a joke

For us, it’s “take and pass AP classes, get a scholarship, go to collage, get a job in what you majored in”

Easier said then done

Seems like a lot of unnecessary stuff in the US

personally i prefer an apprenticeship before the uni, bc it's safer

in case you should fail uni/college

The US statistically has pretty shitty education compared to other countries sooo

Idk

thisll end well

Yeah, that makes more sense liftea

A levels are a joke fullstop

No rule 12 needed, they're an unnecessary drain on the mental health of kids and the new a levels are even worse for that

I think the difficulty curve is too much for a lot of kids

Yeah, it's a huge step up from gcse

University is easier than a levels

That is the most dizgusting excuse of a tropical storm ive seen

Agree
