I really think it’s because of COVID, because of the lack of workers in many businesses and social distancing regulations these businesses might have it difficult. So that’s probably the reason.

covid doesn't impact a team of 2 people, the game was the least profitable of SE mobile games for a few years already and now that end of story is in sight they can call it a day

Square Enix also did a lot to help work continue despite covid restrictions in all their services
