Personal opinion yeah; way he was written for one, and I think the 3D design isn't as strong as 1-3.

Design wise, and it also just felt awkward playing his side, but that's just me

If I were to rank the Sora's
KH2 > KH3 > KH1/COM > DDD

I don't count Re: Coded cause that was Data Sora, and I don't count BBS cause he was barely in it. And he was like 4 lol

I find COM Sora the most interesting in terms of character

Honestly, if you think about it, COM was pretty damn disturbing

Seeing Sora slowly become more and more obsessed with Naminé to the point where he lashes out at his friends and forgets Kairi was spooky
We've dealt with mentally unwell characters before (Cloud, Squall, exc.), but it's not often we get to WATCH our protagonist go insane

Kh1 > kh2 > kh3 > com > ddd

Sora is DAMN lucky Naminé was never actually evil

That game in general is filled with extensional horror. And there's actually a GOOD number of onscreen deaths to boot

The entire Riku Replica subplot alone is probably one of the darkest things in the entire series

Yup. That's why i like his story in both com and kh3

And Sora has a literal identity crisis

Not to mention Vexen's death right in front of sora's eyes or repliku's death

He literally BEGS Naminé at one point to basically break his heart to save herself.
Even after finding out he had been manipulated the entire time .
And even knowing that he'd become a catatonic puppet like Repliku.

Even Marluxia and Larxene are disturbed by how dedicated he is to this big lie
